00:17and opening up about hearing the diehard actor's
00:20dementia diagnosis for the first time.
00:22I was so panicked, and I just remember hearing it
00:26and just not hearing anything else.
00:29It was like I was free falling.
00:31Back in December, on their 17th anniversary,
00:34Emma shared a happier time with Bruce in Turks and Caicos,
00:37along with a heartfelt message about the challenges
00:40she faces as his now caretaker.
00:4317 years of us, anniversaries used to bring excitement.
00:46Now, if I'm honest, they stir up all the feelings,
00:49leaving a heaviness in my heart and a pit in my stomach.
00:52I give myself 30 minutes to sit in the why him, why us,
00:56to feel the anger and grief.
00:58Then I shake it off and return to what is.

01:21And with Emma, he has two little girls, Mabel and Evelyn.

01:30They've grown up with Bruce declining over the years.

01:35It's been an emotional road for the whole family.
01:38In 2022, Bruce retired from acting after initially being diagnosed with aphasia,
01:42a disorder that affects the ability to speak and understand language.
01:46By February 2023, the family revealed his condition had worsened
01:49and that he had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, or FTD.
