00:00Hi everyone, happy Valentine's Day. I just turned in another draft to The Open Field,
00:06which is my publisher. This is a book for caregivers on how to care for yourself so
00:12that you can then, in return, be the best caregiver, care partner to your loved one,
00:19your person, anyone that you find yourself caring for. I have just counted that we have about 25
00:27experts and specialists that have lent their voice, that have contributed to this book.
00:34All of these people have, in some way or another, helped me find my footing as a caregiver,
00:41has shaped me into becoming a caregiver, and it really has so much and everything to do with them.
00:49And you might think, my God, you have 25 experts and specialists that you've been working with to
00:55be a caregiver. Okay, a couple things. One, caregiving takes a village. You cannot do this
01:02on your own. And two, I sit in a lot of privilege. I have resources, I have access, and I
01:13have some
01:14energy to be able to write this book. And I think the beauty of this is that I get to
01:23share their expert
01:25insight with all of you. And I am so humbled that I have been given the opportunity to be able
01:34to write
01:35this book in the spirit of helping other caregivers who find themselves in this unexpected journey.
01:42So I just need to say thank you to Maria Shriver. She's my publisher under her publishing house is
01:49the open field. And I will never be able to thank her enough. This process of being able to write
01:58this book
01:58has been one of the greatest gifts that I have been given. And I don't know why I'm going to
02:05start
02:05crying. But that is just how it goes. But it's truly been such a beautiful experience. And I cannot wait
02:14to share this book with all of you.
