00:00Sean Diddy Combs is pushing for a near-immediate release from prison as he awaits sentencing.
00:05In a new court filing, his lawyers argued that since Combs was acquitted of the most
00:09serious sex trafficking charges, he should face a much lighter punishment than the more
00:14than seven years recommended by probation officials.
00:17The sentencing memo says Diddy has already endured harsh conditions during his year at
00:22the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
00:25His attorneys claim he's been on constant suicide watch, had limited access to clean
00:29water, and was often served food that was not healthy or edible.
00:34They argue that under those circumstances, his time behind bars has been far more punitive
00:39than the typical sentence of similar offenses.
00:42The filing includes more than 75 letters of support from family, friends, and colleagues,
00:48among them his mother, his children, and even ex-girlfriend Young Miami.
00:53His lawyers say Combs has made the most of his time in custody, sought treatment, and
00:57shown marked improvement in his behavior.
01:01But the disgraced music mogul still faces serious consequences.
01:04Back in July, he was convicted of two counts of prostitution, each carrying up to 10 years
01:09in prison.
01:10During that trial, jurors heard emotional testimony from several women, including ex-girlfriend
01:15Cassie Ventura, who accused him of abuse and assault.
01:19Combs' sentencing is scheduled for October 3rd, and beyond the criminal case, he continues
01:24to fight dozens of civil lawsuits from men and women, accusing him of sexual misconduct
01:30and other illegal activity, allegations he has consistently denied.
