The Powder Blues — Uncut 1979 (Canada, Blues, Swing, Blues Rock)
The debut studio album by the Canadian band from Vancouver, British Columbia, features their signature mix of swing, blues, jazz, rock 'n' roll, and R&B. The original pressing was released in December 1979 on the Blue Wave label. The band was founded in 1978 by brothers Tom and Jack Lavin and keyboardist Willie MacCalder. After a year and a half of performing in local clubs, the musicians self-financed the release of their debut album, Uncut, and in 1980, they toured Canada and the United States. In 1981, The Powder Blues became the most promising band of the year, and their album, Uncut, went double platinum in Canada.
