00:00Mr. President, Prime Minister Netanyahu said there's no starvation in Gaza.
00:04Do you agree with that assessment?
00:05I don't know.
00:05I mean, based on television, I would say not particularly because those children look very hungry.
00:10But we're giving a lot of money and a lot of food, and other nations are now stepping up.
00:16I know that this nation is right here.
00:18It's a humanitarian crisis.
00:19Right.
00:19It's an absolute catastrophe.
00:21And nobody wants to see that.
00:23And I think people in Britain are revolted at seeing what they're seeing on their screens.
00:27So we've got to get to that ceasefire, and thank you, Mr. President, for leading on that,
00:32and also to just get more and more aid in.
00:34Again, America's done a lot on this.
00:37A lot of countries have done a lot.
00:38We're now working with Jordan on getting direct aid drops in, but this is a desperate situation.
00:44Mr. President, do you think Israel has done all it can do to avoid civilian casualties in Gaza?
00:49Well, I think nobody's done anything great over there.
00:54The whole place is a mess.
00:55It'll get straightened out, but it's a mess.
00:58They have to get food and safety right now.
01:02And ultimately, look, Hamas did a horrible thing, and they paid a big price, but Hamas did a horrible thing.
01:09But I always said, when you get down to the last 20 or 10, get down to 20, we got a lot of hostages out.
01:15And you helped us, by the way.
01:17But we got a lot of hostages out over the last six months that I've been in.
01:22I've been in office for six months now.
01:23And these hostages have been, I mean, many of them have come to the Oval Office, and they thanked me so profusely.
01:31I said, you don't have to thank me.
01:32I did what I have to do.
01:34But I always said, when you get down to the final 20, they won't release them.
01:38Because that's like their shield, very unfair.
01:41And so something's going to have to be done.
01:43And they were really unwilling to talk.
01:46But I've said that.
01:47You get down to the final 10 or 20.
01:49It turns out to be 20.
01:50I thought that would be the number.
01:52I said, they're not going to be dealing with us.
01:54And, you know, many of the hostages are now dead.
01:57You know that.
01:58And parents come up to me.
02:00A woman came up to me two weeks ago.
02:02She just wants her son back.
02:04And I said, how is he doing?
02:06My son's dead, sir, but he's with them.
02:07And we want the body.
02:09She wanted the body of this young boy, of her young, beautiful son, just as much as if he were alive.
02:15It was just as important.
02:16There was no difference.
02:18And it's a very tragic situation, frankly.
02:23But we got a lot out.
02:25And now, possibly, the fight will have to be a little bit different.
02:29But they have totally changed now.
02:31They don't want to give hostages.
02:34Very unfair.
02:35You have 20 living people, in this case, living.
02:39You have many dead people, too, that they want to get a long time as well.
02:43Yeah.
02:43They have 20 living people.
02:46And I told Israel, I told Bibi, that you have to now maybe do it a different way.
02:52Do you think a ceasefire is even possible, Mr. President?
02:56Yeah, a ceasefire is possible.
02:58But you have to get it.
02:59You have to end it.
03:00You're talking about with Israel.
03:02You're talking about there.
03:03Because we have many ceasefires going on.
03:05The whole world is.
03:07If I weren't around, you'd have right now six major wars going on.
03:11India would be fighting with Pakistan.
03:13You see what we just did yesterday with two nations that we're trading with.
03:19And during the trade, I said, I'm not going to do any trade deal unless you guys settle
03:22your differences.
03:23And we got it settled in 24 hours.
03:25I mean, they just announced it was settled, which is a tremendous thing.
03:29But Serbia, Kosovo is another one.
03:32We have many hot spots that were at war.
03:37I think a very big one was India and Pakistan, because that's, you're talking about two nuclear
03:41nations.
03:41I think a very big one was.
