00:00How did a teenage girl's pet pony end up lunch?
00:03For lions.
00:06Welcome to Weird But True, your stable for the wildest stories from the post.
00:10It's every little girl's dream to get a horse to call her own.
00:13From the 1980s My Little Pony craze...
00:15Beautiful!
00:16Magical!
00:17Fantastical!
00:18To today's Tik Tokers.
00:20Ugh!
00:21I hate people that work at the bank.
00:25Shhh!
00:26I work at the bank.
00:28Make a run for shawty, call him Ed Sheeran, he in love with my body.
00:34The bond between a young woman and her equine friend is nothing short of magical.
00:38That's why some social media users were shocked to find out a mum in Denmark had donated her
00:43daughter's pony to the local zoo to be fed to lions.
00:47No, this wasn't some sort of cruel punishment for not doing her chores.
00:53Her Neal Soul revealed to the Times UK that she gifted her 13-year-old Angelina's Pony to
00:58the Alborg Zoo to be euthanized, slaughtered, and yep, turned into mince meat.
01:05The zoo is hoping to mimic the natural food chain of predators by feeding them smaller animals
01:09in the form of donated pets.
01:11In 2025 alone, they received 22 horses, 137 rabbits, 53 chickens, and 18 guinea pigs.
01:19And get this, Danish citizens who donate are eligible for a tax deduction.
01:24The Alborg Zoo houses three species of dangerous carnivores, Asiatic lions, Sumatran tigers,
01:30and polar bears.
01:31Oh my.
01:32As for Angelina's horse, the German riding pony, which she named Chicago 57, had suffered
01:37from health issues since 2020, and ended up living until the age of 22.
01:42Ultimately, it was little Angie's decision to send her beloved pony off to the slaughter,
01:46but this is where it gets even weirder.
01:49The teenager's mum was so impressed with the process that she tried to bring another
01:52horse to the zoo, but it was turned down because it was too tall to fit inside the zoo's refrigerator,
01:58chilling.
01:59The horse's remains were instead repurposed as dog food.
02:02Hey, it beats the glue factory.
02:04Thankfully, the zoo does not accept cats or dogs.
02:07For those pets, when their time comes, mums and dads everywhere will have to keep sending
02:11them to a farm upstate.
