00:00Pete Buttigieg is the latest Democrat to declare that Joe Biden shouldn't have run for a second
00:05term. Too bad it's far too late to matter. In an interview with Meet the Press, the former
00:12transportation secretary said Biden should not have run in 2024, griping that if he had made
00:18that decision sooner, we might have been better off. Well, maybe if Democrats had pushed him to
00:23drop out sooner, he would have. But they were all too busy pretending nothing was wrong,
00:28while Biden's mental acuity got noticeably worse in the year leading up to the 2024 primaries.
00:34But Buttigieg won't own up to his own role and Biden holding out for so long. Just like everyone
00:39else in the Biden administration, he's insisting everyone was powerless to keep him from running
00:44again, saying it literally was his decision. Nobody else was able to make that decision.
00:51That's provably wrong. Biden was only able to avoid dropping out as long as he did,
00:56because the entire Democratic establishment and many in the media kept insisting he was
01:02the sharpest he'd ever been. Once Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama and other Democratic leaders gave up
01:08the ghost and started pushing for Biden to step aside after his concerning performance in the
01:13presidential debate, Biden had little choice but to exit the race. It's the Democrats own fault that
01:20they ignored mounting and clear evidence that he was experiencing a debilitating loss of mental acuity.
01:26It was their choice to label anyone who did express concern as a conspiracy theorist,
01:31instead of investigating these charges with the seriousness they deserved.
01:35It wasn't hard to figure out that Biden was struggling. There were countless times when he was
01:39visibly confused, frustrated and forgetful. But no Democrats were willing to stand up and stage an
01:45intervention while there was still time to do the right thing for the party and for the country.
01:51Buttigieg himself has insisted as recently as July that he saw no evidence of Biden's mental decline
01:57while he was serving as transportation secretary. Admitting in September of 2025 that Biden shouldn't
02:03have run for a second term is a bit like pointing out that the sky is blue and expecting to be applauded for
02:09it. It doesn't matter that now Buttigieg has acknowledged reality when there are zero stakes.
02:14What matters is what he and other Democratic leaders did back when it actually would have counted.
