00:00I mean, according to PolitiFact, the day after she was elected in 2018, Letitia James was asked

00:05by a community activist if she was going to sue President Trump. And she replied, quote,

00:09oh, we're going to definitely sue him. We're going to be a real pain in the ass. He's going

00:13to know my name personally. I mean, that's not a great look for somebody who has just been

00:18elected or just been campaigning, who hasn't even looked, I guess, at deeply at any evidence.

00:25Anderson Cooper addressed the fresh indictment of Letitia James Thursday on CNN.

00:30Where he lambasted the New York attorney general for how she handled her previous vow to zero in

00:36on President Trump. It was not a great look, the CNN star said. The anchor discussed James's

00:42conversation with a community activist who asked in 2018 if James was ready to sue the president

00:48just one day after she won the attorney general election. Will you sue him for us? Oh, we're

00:54going to definitely sue him. We're going to be a real pain in the ass. He's going to know my name

00:57personally. I mean, that's not a great look for somebody who has just been elected, who

01:02just been campaigning, who hasn't even looked, I guess, deeply at any evidence, Cooper said.

01:08James then followed through with her agenda and sued the Trump Organization on claims the

01:12company inflated the value of the real estate empire, leading to a judgment against the

01:16president and hundreds of millions in fines. Then, in a twist, $355 million in penalties

01:24was thrown out by a higher court in August after Trump successfully appealed the case.

01:29Now, the tables have turned, and James was indicted on charges of bank fraud in Virginia Thursday.

01:35Democratic politicians are calling it out as political retribution. James, who has denied

01:40any wrongdoing, is also claiming the prosecution is pure politics. These charges are baseless,

01:46and the president's own public statements make clear that his only goal is political retribution

01:51at any cost, James said.
