00:00President Trump is actually contemplating giving Sean Diddy Combs a full presidential pardon
00:05ahead of his sentencing in October, according to a deadline report.
00:10Back in May, Trump teased the idea of pardoning him in an Oval Office gaggle.
00:14You mentioned once in 2012 that Diddy was a good friend of yours.
00:18Would you ever consider pardoning him?
00:20I don't know. I would certainly look at the facts.
00:23If I think somebody was mistreated, whether they like me or don't like me,
00:27it wouldn't have any impact on me.
00:29That was before Combs was found partially guilty in his high-profile,
00:33two-month sex trafficking trial earlier this month.
00:37Now Deadline reports an administration source has told them
00:40that the president is quote,
00:41seriously considering pardoning the disgraced rap mogul.
00:45Combs had faced a possible life sentence if convicted on the top charges at the trial
00:50in Manhattan federal court that revealed his twisted preference for
00:54freak-offs, grueling, drug-fueled romps,
00:57in which he watched his girlfriend have sex with male escorts.
01:01While prosecutors were hoping he would be convicted of federal sex trafficking and racketeering,
01:06the jury only found Combs guilty of two counts of breaking the Mann Act,
01:10a federal law making it a crime to transport someone across state lines for prostitution.
01:15Other insiders have told Deadline that the verdict has since turned the idea of Diddy receiving a full
01:21presidential pardon from quote,
01:22just another Trump weave, to an actionable event.
01:25The White House said it will not comment on the existence or non-existence of any clemency request,
01:32according to a response from an administration official contacted by Deadline.
01:36The 55-year-old could spend a maximum of 20 years behind bars,
01:41or 10 years for each count on which he was convicted,
01:44but is likely to receive far less time under federal sentencing guidelines
01:48that take into account a defendant's criminal history and other factors.
01:52He is more likely to face somewhere between 15 months and 5 years,
01:56the range that both sides will eventually haggle over.
02:00Combs, who has maintained his innocence, has been behind bars since his September arrest.
02:05He remains at Brooklyn's hellish Metropolitan Detention Center until the October 3rd sentencing.
02:11The judge denied Combs' bid to be released on the grounds that he was acquitted of the most
02:15serious charges in the case, citing that he posed a danger to the community,
02:20considering copious testimony about his violent temper.
02:23The trial featured sensational testimony from 34 witnesses about Combs' penchant for freak-off
02:29sex marathons, including his ex-long-time girlfriend, Cassie Ventura,
02:34and another former gal pal who testified anonymously.
02:38The pair told jurors about how the Bad Boy Records founder got them high on drugs
02:43and then forced them to have sex with male escorts during baby oil-doused sex sessions
02:49that sometimes lasted for days.
02:52They alleged that Combs watched, pleasured himself, and filmed the romps,
02:56and sometimes after threatened to release the footage
02:59to pressure the women to continue partaking in his staged fantasies.
03:03Speaking from the bench after the July 2nd verdict, Judge Samramian said,
03:08it's impossible for the defendant to show he poses no danger to any person.
03:13Prosecutors said they'll likely push for a prison term between 51 and 63 months,
03:18while Combs' camp will be asking the judge to release him on time served.
