00:00My name is Kilmar Abrego Garcia and I always want you to remember that today I can say with pride that I am free.
00:10Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the Maryland man at the center of a immediate firestorm earlier this year,
00:16sounded hopeful back in August after reuniting with his family in the U.S.
00:21When I was detained, I remembered memories with my family, going to the park with them, going to the trampoline with my children.
00:42But now an immigration judge has rejected a bid to reopen the case.
00:46Abrego Garcia's lawyers had claimed their client feared imminent removal to Uganda
00:52after the Department of Homeland Security notified them that he may get deported there.
00:57On October 1st, a judge effectively let the final order of removal stand against Abrego Garcia.
01:03He has 30 days to appeal the ruling.
01:06DHS cheered the decision, tweeting,
01:08This MS-13 gang member, human trafficker, domestic abuser, and child predator will never be loose on American streets.
01:18It all goes back to 2012 when Abrego Garcia fled El Salvador and entered the United States illegally, according to court documents.
01:26He married a U.S. citizen, Jennifer Vasquez Sura, in 2019, and is the father to one biological child and two stepchildren.
01:35It all came crashing down in March of this year, when Abrego Garcia was wrongly deported to Seacot, El Salvador's hellhole megaprison.
01:43The Justice Department admitted this took place in violation of a prior order.
01:48The case garnered national attention.
01:50He was accused of having ties to the notorious gang MS-13,
01:54and Democratic leaders flew to Central America to meet with the asylum seeker.
01:59On June 6th, Abrego Garcia was brought back to the U.S.,
02:02where he faces federal human trafficking charges in Tennessee for allegedly transporting undocumented immigrants.
02:09He pleaded not guilty.
