00:00A young Staten Island girl arrived at her West Brighton home after school on Monday
00:05to find her teen brother drenched in blood before he uttered the chilling words.
00:11I did something bad. Go to your room, sources said.
00:15The girl walked inside and followed blood trails to the bathroom
00:19where she found the boyfriend of the suspect's mother in the bathtub
00:22with his head removed and a knife still in his head, sources told the Post.
00:27She then called 911.
00:30Police arrived at the Cary Avenue home at about 4.20 p.m.
00:34before the bloodied 19-year-old suspect came out with his hands raised and was apprehended.
00:40Authorities then discovered the grisly scene of the slain 45-year-old sanitation worker in the bathroom.
00:46Neither the victim nor the suspect has been publicly identified as of Tuesday morning.
00:51The butchered man was a DSNY worker who was forced to go on disability due to severe vision loss,
00:57a close friend told the Post outside of the taped-off home.
01:01The teen has no criminal history, but sources said he has a history of mental illness,
01:06including schizophrenia and self-harm, going back to 2022.
01:11The sanitation worker and the suspect's mom had been together for nearly six years,
01:16and the family has a history of domestic incident reports, sources also said.
01:20The couple had their ups and downs with the kids, the victim's close friend Luis Ortiz told the Post Monday night.
01:28Ortiz also described the suspect as sweet as pie, but noted he was always going through stuff in school,
01:34naming mental health as an example.
01:37Another neighbor, Mariano Castro, told the Post he never noticed anything amiss between the victim and the girlfriend's son,
01:44noting he recently saw the two in their backyard mowing the lawn and grilling on the barbecue.
01:50As of the morning of October 7th, the suspect has yet to be charged.
