00:00Hey, guys, how are you?
00:01I know it's a little dark.
00:02Appreciate you coming out there with us.
00:03I thought we had a great visit with the Marines.
00:05They were obviously excited, and I was very excited, too.
00:08But I have to take a few questions before we hit the road.
00:10Mr. Vice President, are you going to Israel?
00:12We might.
00:13We're trying to figure it out.
00:14Obviously, we're going to go and check on how things are going.
00:16And I think somebody from the administration is certainly going to be over there in the next few days.
00:20It might be me, but we're going to figure out how to travel there.
00:23I'm so confident, are you, that this truce can hold, given the events in Israel.
00:27But Pat, what are the last 24 hours?
00:30Well, look, it's going to be complicated.
00:31I mean, the best-paced scenario, meaning if this thing absolutely produces that sustainable,
00:37long-term peace of the president, and I hope that it will, there are going to be fits and
00:41starts.
00:41There are going to be, you know, Hamas is going to fire on Israel.
00:44Israel is going to have to respond, of course.
00:46There are going to be moments where you have people within Gaza where you're not quite sure
00:51what they're actually doing.
00:52So we think that it has the best chance for a sustainable peace.
00:56But even if it does that, it's going to have hills and valleys, and we're going to have
01:00to monitor the situation.
01:01When we talk about Hamas, you're talking about 40 different cells.
01:04It's disjointed.
01:06Some of those cells will probably honor the ceasefire.
01:09Many of those cells, as we saw some evidence of today, will not.
01:13Before we actually can ensure that Hamas is properly disarmed, that's going to require,
01:18as we know, some of these Gulf Arab states to get forces in there to actually apply some law
01:24and order and security keeping on the ground.
01:27So I think it would be kind of absurd for the president to say, well, Hamas is going to be
01:31disarmed three or four days from now.
01:33We don't even have the security infrastructure in place, meaning the Gulf Arab states, our allies,
01:39don't have the security infrastructure in place yet to confirm that Hamas is disarmed,
01:43until you actually go a little bit down the path of this peace mission, of this 20-point peace plan,
01:50we're not going to be able to say with confidence that everybody is doing everything that we want
01:53them to do.
01:54All right, guys, have a good night.
01:55We'll see you tomorrow.
