00:00We are here with the one, the only, Tom Schwartz. I am so excited to have you here.
00:05You know, how has life since Vanderpump Rules been treating you?
00:10Well, of course, it ending was bittersweet. Not bitter, but just kind of sad. It was the end of
00:16an era, and that was my life, you know? That was my L.A. family, and I think, yeah, I think it was
00:23the right decision, but of course, it's kind of sad, and I feel like the whole generation of people
00:28kind of grew up with us, too, as I've experienced being in the bars, TomTom, Schwartz, and Sandy's,
00:33R.I.P. It's in a better place now. Not that sad it's gone. No, but no, I just was like,
00:41it's cool, because, yeah, being in the bars, I was in there like four or five nights a week a lot of
00:46the time, and I'm getting to experience these beautiful life moments from people who grew up
00:50watching our show. How many people came into TomTom and Schwartz and Sandy's in the past, like, five
00:54years? Like, we just got engaged. We met because we loved your show, or it's like stuff like that.
01:00It's just, yeah, I've helped people propose at the bars to people. Had a lot of divorce parties,
01:06too, which I've hosted. You get it all. Yeah, no, but it's been really fun, and just,
01:12I feel really lucky. I feel like fans have definitely been more open to seeing you on the
01:16Valley than, say, Lala and Sheena. What do you think about that? Does that surprise you at all?
01:20I think it came from, sometimes they were a bit harsh with their feedback. Not so constructive.
01:29We will ban the show. But, like, I think they're just worried about it becoming Vanderpump Rules 2.0,
01:37and it won't ever do that. It's its own thing, its own entity. It's apples and oranges, and, yeah,
01:45I don't think people will have to worry about it becoming Vanderpump Rules 2.0.
01:49Right. It just has its own pulse and its own life, and it's just, it's very different. I love those
01:55two, so, of course, I like, I just watched last night's episode, and Lala's on there, and I'm
02:01friends with Lala. I like seeing them. You know what I mean? Yeah, I don't know, but I get it. I think
02:06it comes, because people really dig the show, The Valley, and they want to keep it The Valley.
02:11Right. But, yeah, I don't think they have to worry about that. Right. I mean, I love to see
02:15crossovers. Yeah. That's me personally. Me too. I love crossovers. So, I'm a fan of seeing them on
02:22the show. I think they're great, and they're entertaining, and they're my friends, but I
02:26also think they're very entertaining on television. Yes. Not everyone agrees with me. We're seeing a lot
02:30of really tough stuff with Jackson. Do you think that rehab and sobriety has changed him, and if so,
02:36what differences are you seeing? Hmm. I wouldn't say it's changed him, but I think it's a step in
02:43the right direction. He has, like, some, and he'll be the first to tell you this, he has some deep-rooted
02:49mental health issues. He's really got some demons that he's got to learn how to wrestle or tame,
02:56and I think, yeah, he's, he's, he's, at least from what I see, he's putting in the work. He's been sober
03:03201 days and everything, but he still has a long way to go. Progress, not perfection, as they say,
03:10but, yeah, I don't know. I, I, I, from what I see, it seems on the surface that he's, he is making
03:17some progress, doing better, or at least trying, but then I talk to, you know, the people that are
03:22closest to him, and they have a completely different story. They're like, he hasn't changed
03:26at all. So, yeah, I guess sometimes I'm just left wondering, but I don't want to lose hope.
03:32Right. Yeah. Eternal optimist. I'm not losing hope. Exactly. But, account, I'm still, accountability,
03:39holding accountability, but not losing hope. Well, you were with Jackson this week's episode
03:43when he was served the divorce papers. Hi, I'm Mr. Kachi. Yes. Yes, Mr. Kachi, you've been served.
03:49Oh, yeah, this is for, uh, I mean. I just watched it. Okay. So, it's so fresh, and I lived it,
03:55but I kind of, I don't know. It was a very, it was a surreal moment. Yeah. Um, heavy and heartfelt.
04:02I'm glad I was there. Mm-hmm. I feel like I kind of put Jax at ease. Um, he knows I'm, you know,
04:08I, I do hold him accountable, but I'm also gonna, in that moment, I was listening and trying to not
04:14judge and just break the news to him easily. I had no idea that was coming, and I guess as good
04:20as getting served can be, it's, I guess it's, it went as, you know, it went as, as good as can be.
04:27Mm-hmm. Yeah. Um, but it was, it was very just raw and real. Right. And, um.
04:33And you kind of put on your, your legal hat, because you were, like, explaining what each point was.
04:38Expeditiously. I love that word when it comes to divorce.
04:40Minimal cost to both parties. Dude, this is great. That's great, right? It's, I like the amicly part,
04:45and I like to not. Expeditiously and out of court is huge. In terms of, like, divorces, that's a love letter.
04:52Um, no, I'm no expert in divorce, and I was very fortunate to have an amicable, respectful one with Katie,
04:59who I love very much. Shout out to Katie. Um, but, uh, this, yeah, this one's a little more complicated.
05:06Mm-hmm. A lot more complicated. For sure. And, um, yeah, I just, I'm just trying to be there for
05:12both of them as much as I can be, but it was rough. Yeah. It was rough. It was awkward, but, um, yeah.
05:19You mentioned before, you know, I love your friendship with Katie. I think you guys are such
05:24great friends, and I, I mean, even watching over Vanderpump, I always enjoyed watching you guys
05:30together. Have you met her new boyfriend? What do you think of him? Nick? Yes. Uh, yeah. Well,
05:35according to Katie, I have a man crush on him, which is really weird, and it's not true,
05:40but I think it was an admiration. He's a rock star. Yeah. Literally a rock star, and, um,
05:46I just like seeing Katie happy. I genuinely, that's coming right from my heart. I mean that
05:51with all of my heart and soul. I like seeing Katie happy, and she seems really happy.
05:56Vanderpump Rules is getting a whole new cast, and people have already spotted them filming
06:00outside of Sir. You know, since, since you're close with Lisa, what do you know about the new
06:04cast, and will we be seeing you make a cameo? Okay. She's been mum about it, but I've talked
06:10to her about it, like how she's feeling about it and everything, and she's like genuinely,
06:14I'm not just saying this because I'm part of it and my name's on it. I feel like that it's
06:19never going to be Vanderpump Rules. Like, you just can't recreate that magic, but it's its
06:23own thing. Um, I think they found their version of lightning in a bottle again. They found a
06:28cast that all actually works there, knows each other, has like real, um, authentic relationships
06:34with one another. Um, also, maybe they, I don't know if they all sleep together like
06:40we did, but hopefully, for the viewers. Yeah, one could only hope. One could only hope.
06:46No, honestly, I, I'm going to watch it. Are you going to watch it? Oh yeah, of course.
06:50I'm totally going to watch it, and I'm going to go in there and probably fangirl out.
06:53Be like, I remember my first TV show. You know what I mean? It's like, no. They came
06:59in, um, some of the cast came into TomTom before they started filming this season, which
07:04I think they're close to wrapping. And, uh, they were just like, do you have any advice
07:08for us? What should we do? I just said, just be authentic. Don't come on, don't come on
07:13with a preconceived notion of who you want to be. Like, don't create a character or a legend
07:18in your own mind. Just be raw and real, off the cuff. Don't like self-script.
07:23Right. Just don't be contrived.
