00:00i think my favorite scene in the movie is this moment where polly mentions a girl she's seeing
00:05and then caitlin reveals she has an ex-girlfriend it feels like such a moment of like genuine
00:09connection between the two women no it's just um this girl we've been sort of talking it's funny
00:18i was i was dating a woman when i met miguel i think i could tell that what can you remember
00:25about like how you approached that scene maybe reading into the script and what it meant for
00:29each of your characters um yeah i love that scene as well because i think it really kind of lays the
00:35groundwork for this intimacy that they start forging and that caitlin starts to really um
00:44open up to and almost lean on in a way and she's like very hopeful that that there's something
00:50brewing between them and she doesn't really know what it is if there's some feelings there if it's
00:54a friendship or whatever it is it's it's a connection to somebody that she maybe hasn't
00:58felt in a really long time because she's somebody who isn't really fully authentic with most people
01:04so it's like the first time where that she really kind of sits up and takes notice of of that and um
01:11it's so lovely shooting it and getting to and we always love i mean i know like we talked about as
01:17actors you always love getting to feel something and then cover it up in a scene is just so fun because
01:22it's so real and human and so i loved that like getting to feel that like pull of something and
01:27then immediately like covering it up and moving on to the next thing um which i just feel is like such
01:32a truthful um experience so yeah i love i love that scene as well yeah it's a good one i uh admit i was
01:39kind of hoping maybe there would the movie would go a little farther and maybe have like something
01:43romantic happen between your two characters i wonder was there ever a version where it went there or were
01:48you guys maybe also hoping for that there was never yeah not that i not that i read i could
01:54totally see it happen yeah you you see that it could very easily go that way and i think it was a nice um
02:03you know i think what people would expect which there's a little bit of that going after the husband
02:08but i like that it's it's kind of you know i i see an in yes and that's like a a nice um
02:15um yeah way to like pull on tension and that's the word yeah there's a tension there between them
02:22throughout and i think that's part of what caitlin almost misconstrues in a way she sort of feels like
02:27maybe this is romantic tension and then as the film goes on it's like oh no this this tension is
02:33something else okay this is this is like there's a whole lot other stuff underneath this that um maybe
02:40maybe she was misreading so it's but it's very really interesting all those you know different
02:45feelings that are going on i love the the dual tension that you guys are talking about particularly
02:49in that scene where micah you put your hands around mary's throat to give her a massage it's
02:54like is this romantic or is this murder okay it's gonna hurt a little bit
03:01can you tell me about um filming that that scene yeah i mean it was great no i was like i hope i can
03:18do it yes i know we had to have like a little rehearsal because i was sort of like okay it was
03:24it was maybe a little more technical than some of the other scenes we've done for that reason because
03:28it was like how are we going to present this in a way that looks scary but also a bit
03:34like romantic yeah sexual yeah well so it was a lot more of like a collaboration with michelle
03:40like okay this is where the hand needs to be placed and this is where the when you need to turn and when
03:44you need to look back and most of the scenes were very like free just kind of like you go for it do
03:49whatever you feel is right but that one had to be crafted yeah a little bit more to convey you know
03:55everything that was meant to be conveyed and another scene i imagine was was crafted a bit
03:59is that that big fight scene in the kitchen where the tension is definitely murderous
04:10can you tell me about kind of choreographing that fight and uh filming it yeah i mean we had really
04:16awesome stunt stunt stunt guys and gals and um we were able to do a decent amount ourselves um
04:26and yeah i mean it was it was a hard day you know because we we had to remember you know the scene
04:34prior was so emotional and and making sure we brought that into the the physicality and and all the the
04:42anger and the the tension all of that like had to be there but i mean it was it was quite fun yeah
04:48crazy and crazy and yeah again again like you said another scene that had to be crafted so we we sort
04:54of had all these like emotional scenes leading up to it that were just very like raw and just
04:59let the emotion out and this one it was kind of like the emotion had to be there but we had to
05:03technically yeah choreograph exactly how that was gonna work and you know safely as well without like
05:10actually killing her day yeah which is always the fine line of those scenes um so nobody got hurt i
05:17hope no no i don't think i don't think so i think we're all in the clear we made it through unscathed
05:24i love that this movie has so many women behind the camera as well as in front of it i wondered
05:28for both of you just working with a woman director means something to you is it something you seek out
05:33does it change the dynamic on set it does i mean particularly when it's a woman like michelle
05:40i mean she's just such an incredible person and an incredible artist and i think we were all you
05:47know just every now and then you sort of look at each other and be like cool we're just like the three
05:51of us women yes like on set talking about this scene and breaking it down and figuring out what
05:57needs to happen and not having anybody else really interjecting in it um and that was amazing and really
06:04i think everyone trusted michelle to such a high level that there was no there was nobody on set like
06:11looming over her telling her what she should be doing or not doing and for somebody as kind of early
06:17on in their career that's that's kind of rare um for that trust to be there like it really was just us
06:22us making the movie for ourselves yeah uh and that was so cool and i think it speaks to why the film is
06:31so empathetic to its characters as well i mean also our writer screenwriter who is male who i was
06:38surprised when i read it i could not believe it yeah the female lens to it um but i think his
06:44collaboration with michelle really kind of helped push it into that place as well um and i think it does
06:51just have that like you look at these women and you see them for who they are and not just as like
06:55a hero and a villain and i think that that is you know michelle's a lot of that is is michelle's
07:01influence you're both considered scream queens at this point with roles in iconic horror movies
07:05i'm wondering what keeps you coming back to that genre and and how do you feel about that title scream
07:09queen we've i think we've both love horror films always have you know um and yeah i think scream i
07:18think any being called a queen of any kind is um you know i'll take it yeah it's an amazing thing so
07:26um yeah i think there's something about the horror genre that um it's just such a fun thing to be a
07:32part of the you know when horror films are good they're like the best that cinema has to offer and
07:38um and same for when it comes to acting in them you get to do so much you get to mine so many emotions
07:44um through sometimes a metaphorical lens um but what's underneath it is dealing with like real
07:51human messy stuff um and that's always so fun as an actor to get to play in michael i'm wondering if
07:58we can get an update on the it follows sequel they follow has it started filming rumors are of next
08:04year it's been yeah i mean it's been we've been busy we've all been busy but um this script is it's
08:11so good and i absolutely think this movie should get made because i think fans will be really i
08:18think it's like exceptional mary is there any hope of you over playing huntress on screen again you
08:22were so perfect in birds of prey you i would love to i i don't think it's going in that direction
08:28for me but i loved getting a chance to play it and to play that version of her because she i thought
08:34it was such a fun version of the character but i think you know it's like anything else it's it's like
08:39what we're doing now different versions it's like a play it's like from shakespeare to horror films
08:45and everything in between everybody gets to sort of try different versions and experiment and so
08:50i'm all for that i think that's great
