00:00Ain't nobody's running, ain't nobody's hiding, nobody's ducking.
00:03I mean, Crawford's gonna be right there, ready to trade blows with Canelo Alvarez.
00:07Why did you use that word war? Why are you feeling that way?
00:09If you go down the list and ask me about tactical advantages, most of them are Crawford.
00:15B, Crawford could see everything coming.
00:17He could see everything coming that Canelo threw at him.
00:19He was reading it so well.
00:20His guard was so tight as well when he was up at the ropes, when he was exiting, looking to move around.
00:24He looked about the same size, but that was a brilliant performance.
00:27And what can you say? I mean, you gotta give him his credit.
00:29He created a lot of history.
00:31He dreamt this fight. He willed it to happen.
00:35A lot of people, not me, but a lot of people laughed at him and said, forget about it.
00:38No chance against a bigger guy like that.
00:40Stephen A, Smith reacted strongly to Canelo Alvarez's loss against Terrence Crawford,
00:45calling it a career-defining moment.
00:47He explained that Crawford had wanted this fight for years to solidify his legacy.
00:52And on the biggest stage he delivered,
00:54Crawford not only took Canelo's shine, but proved himself as the champion in emphatic fashion.
01:00Four-division world champion out of Omaha, Nebraska.
01:04He's undefeated, 41-0 with 31 KOs, and he begged for this fight.
01:12He wanted Canelo bad, because to him, it's all about legacy.
01:17I'm not speculating.
01:18I'm telling you what I know.
01:20And how would I know?
01:21It's because I interviewed him.
01:25Yesterday, we sat down.
01:27Here is my conversation with the one and only Terrence Crawford,
01:31challenging Saul Canelo Alvarez, moving up two weight divisions to do it.
01:37Max Kellerman agreed, describing Crawford's performance as both historic and career-defining.
01:43He broke down the loss by comparing it to a fighter daring to move up multiple weight classes
01:48and take on a dangerous opponent who could drag you into a real dogfight.
01:53According to Kellerman, only fighters with true confidence chase challenges like that.
01:58And Crawford showed he's one of the rare few.
02:00For years, nobody dared to openly call out Bud.
02:04Now, by embracing this challenge,
02:06he secured his place among the most respected fighters in the sport.
02:10Having to jump up two more weight classes
02:13and fight a guy who might put him in a dogfight, a real one, for the first time in his career.
02:18When we get put in that position, we go find opposition to make that happen.
02:24You understand what I mean?
02:25So when we go looking for the opposition,
02:27we're not concerned about how big they are, how fast they are, how strong they are.
02:31We feel like we got enough that we can bring to the table with anybody.
02:34That night I fought General Reese.
02:36I didn't care who was over there.
02:38Whoever they brought up that locker room was going to get it.
02:41You understand what I mean?
02:41That's just what it was.
02:42And I think Bud kind of has that feeling.
02:44Now, Bud, you got to remember, has been around for a long time.
02:49Nobody called him out.
02:50You understand me?
02:51All the time, Floyd came at the boxing floor.
02:53I never said, I want Bud Crawford.
02:54No one ever said his name.
02:55All I know is one thing.
02:56Israel Mazumov, he didn't get it.
02:58He barely lost.
02:59Yeah, but it was just there.
03:00But nobody called his name.
03:02Shakur Stevenson's admiration for Crawford was already well known.
03:06But after this win, his words carried even more weight.
03:09Shakur said Crawford not only delivered on every promise, but showed exactly why he's so highly regarded.
03:16Stevenson admitted that from the earliest stages of his own career, he studied Crawford's style, mentality, and discipline.
03:24Watching his idol accomplish such a historic feat confirmed for Shakur that greatness is built on years of preparation and consistency.
03:32For him, Crawford isn't just a champion.
03:36He's a mentor and a standard bearer for excellence.
03:39I called Canelo.
03:40He said he was going to outbox him.
03:41He did exactly what I called years ago.
03:45And tonight, he proved that he's the greatest boxer there ever is.
03:48In the interview with Dinway, you said you felt like going on a run watching that tonight.
03:51How much inspiration can you take from someone like Terrence?
03:54I take everything from my own.
03:55I've been around him since I was a kid.
03:57And just watching that greatness.
03:59Steven A.
04:00Smith also reflected on Crawford's determination before the fight.
04:05While many fighters would have asked Canelo to drop down to a more comfortable weight,
04:09Crawford insisted on facing him at 168 pounds.
04:13For Crawford, it wasn't about convenience.
04:15It was about legacy.
04:17Smith reminded fans that Canelo is still one of boxing's elite champions with titles across multiple divisions.
04:24By stepping directly into Canelo's territory, Crawford proved he was chasing greatness on the hardest stage possible.
04:32With 31 knockouts.
04:35He's taking on all comers.
04:36I asked him, you're moving up in weight.
04:39Why would you not try to get Canelo to come down from 168 to 160 to meet you halfway since his last fight was at Crawford's last fight was at 154.
04:50Crawford said, I want what he has.
04:53I want to go take it.
04:55I don't want to make, you know, I don't want to make concessions and alterations.
05:00I'm coming to take what he has.
05:02And you look at him and no one believes that he can't pull it off.
05:07He can box.
05:08He can punch.
05:09He's smart.
05:10He's elite.
05:12And he wants Canelo.
05:14He begged.
05:15Analyst aide Oladipo highlighted the dramatic turnaround in public perception.
05:20Before the fight, critics claimed Crawford was too small, too old, and couldn't compete with a powerhouse like Canelo.
05:27After the fight, those same voices rushed to congratulate him.
05:32Oladipo emphasized that Crawford deserved every ounce of praise because he achieved the win the hard way.
05:38Moving up from smaller divisions and challenging a dominant superstar like Canelo was a monumental risk.
05:44But Crawford proved that skill and determination outweigh size and age.
05:49A few hours ago against Canelo.
05:51And what makes it even special or more special for Crawford is that he did it.
05:56Jumping up, as we know, a couple of weight classes.
05:58He did it against one of an all-time or another fellow all-time great.
06:03And he did it against someone who was undisputed and still a pound for pound top 10 guy.
06:10That's what Crawford did, people.
06:11So, you know, all those things people were saying in the lead-up to this fight, you know, Canelo's going to be too strong, Canelo's too experienced, Crawford's going to be 38, all that.
06:22You have to remember all of that when you give Crawford his flowers.
06:27Don't like, oh, well, you know, Canelo looked old.
06:29No, no, no, no.
06:31I don't want to hear any of that.
06:32I've started to see a few people on Twitter start to kind of sort of find excuses already.
06:37No, no, no.
06:38Remember everything you said because Crawford deserves all of that.
06:43All of that.
06:44Crawford was incredible.
06:47Honestly, in the pocket, he was at times showing Canelo, no, no, I'm stronger than you.
06:52I'm going to bully you.
06:54Oh, you think you're going to get me in the clinch because you're Mr. 168?
06:57No, no, no.
06:57Look at the size of me.
06:58I'm jacked as well.
07:00I'm swole.
07:01And he was moving Canelo around.
07:03So by doing that, he got his respect.
07:05He didn't switch to orthodox once, stayed in the southpaw stance because he realized
07:10early, oh, Canelo don't like this.
07:12Canelo does not like this southpaw stance.
07:14Canelo's tripping over himself.
07:16I'm going to stay here.
07:17I'm not going to switch it.
07:18No, I like this work.
07:19I'm going to stay here.
07:20On the ropes, I was like, okay, come in, come in.
07:22Because you know when you come in, you know I've got that as well.
07:24And I can hurt you as well.
07:26Spinning off the ropes.
07:27His jab was fantastic.
07:29They put up the jab numbers.
07:30He was out jabbing Canelo like, it was almost like 10 to 1.
07:34Maybe even 20 to 1.
07:37It was fantastic.
07:38And when he needed to land those power shots, he was landing those power shots.
07:41It was an incredible performance.
