Taylor Swift Donates $100K to Toddler Fighting Brain Cancer: 'Sending the Biggest Hug'

On Friday, Oct. 17, the pop star, 35, made a quiet donation to the parents of a 2-year-old girl named Lilah, who was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer after suffering a seizure at just 18 months old.

00:15Lila is just always so happy. She's so full of life. She's always been like that,

00:22ever since she was born. I was in labor with William and I was about eight centimeters

00:28dilated and a doctor came in and introduced himself and said, I'm so sorry to tell you,

00:34but Lila is in the ER. She had a seizure this morning and there's a mess in her brain.

00:40She had surgery and, um, a week after surgery, the pathology came back and it was ATRT, which is a

00:48most aggressive brain cancer that she could have. I remember so vividly my husband holding me and I

00:54looked at him and I said, I just don't want her to die. And he's like me neither, but she's alive

01:01right now. Like I'm not going to mourn the living. She's alive right now. She's here with us. She's

01:08acting very normal and I'm going to make as many happy memories as I can with her.

01:19I was just listening to Taylor's new album and Lila overheard it on my phone and she's like,

01:23mom, that's Taylor Swift. And I was shocked that she knew that I was like, yeah, it is.

01:28She's like, I want to listen. So I set up the fate of Ophelia music video for her on the iPad

01:32for her to watch it. And just as she's watching it, I'm recording her. I record her, do everything.

01:37And she's just dancing and she looks at Taylor and she's like, that's my friend. And that took me by

01:43surprise. I didn't realize what she said. I'm like, that's your friend. And she's like, yeah.

01:48Yeah. As it was going viral, people were tagging Taylor Swift saying like, you need to see this.

01:55And I joked to my husband, I'm like, people really think Taylor's going to see this. And he is like,

02:00I mean, she might. My husband called me on Friday. He just said, Taylor Swift just donated us $100,000.

02:07And I just, I was like, you're, you're joking. No, that's not. No. And he's like, no, go look.

02:13As soon as I saw the message where it said, sending you the biggest hug to my friend Lila,

02:19I was like, oh, she saw the video and they are now friends. Just her starting this, like she just

02:25donated and the Swifties took it and just had donated to it. And they have, they have almost

02:33doubled her donation now. I just wanted her to know that we are extremely thankful and grateful.

02:39And I feel like she just gave us the biggest hug.
