Bella Thorne: intervista alla protagonista di Il sole a Mezzanotte
Trascrizione
00:00Tell me about your character, Katie. She's so brave, but so young. So how was it to interpretate for you?
00:09A character like that?
00:11Well, it's great because, you know, as many differences as I see in Katie and myself, there also, of course, are the similarities of being that scared young girl and being like, I gotta do this to be brave.
00:28I have to I don't know where this decision is going to get me, but I'm willing to make this decision because I know it will make me happier or it will make me feel better if I at least try.
00:40And I feel like I always say, like, take everything you can and then decide what to do with it, because, you know, every opportunity to take it, take everything, anything that comes your way.
00:56Never look at something and say, hmm, is it good enough for me? Should I do that? No, take everything. And that's kind of what my character does.
01:04She says, OK, fine. I'm going to fall in love. I'm going to live my life. I'm going to do everything that these doctors and my dad and everyone in my whole life has been telling me not to do.
01:13And I'm going to do it because I have a life and I deserve to live it as everyone does.
01:20Both movies, Midnight Sun and I Still See You are directed by Scott Spear. What do you like about working with him?
01:30I love Scott. I love everything about about working with Scott. You know, we really got to know each other on on Midnight Sun, of course, and learn our differences.
01:42And then we've done our second movie together now. I still see you. And it was so amazing getting to work together for a second time because he could look at me and he'll start to say something and I'll look at him and I'm like, hmm.
01:59And he's like, yeah, you know exactly what I'm about to say. And it's so much easier when you have this bond with your director because you guys are putting an artistic vision together.
02:10If if if you want to go this way and he wants to go that way and you guys can agree, your artistic vision is going to get messed up somehow in the process of making this film.
02:20So luckily with I Still See You, it's one of my favorite films I've worked on by far. And it's because of Scott Spear.
02:27And you work with another great director is Xavier Dolan. Yeah. For his first movie in English. That and Life of John Donovan. How is working with a director? He's so young, but he's so famous. He's so I don't know.
02:46He's so artistic. Yeah. Yes. It's really crazy working with Xavier because, you know, I had no idea what to expect. I know that he's a,
02:57visionary. But again, like you said, he is so young and also so personable, so sweet, so understanding as a human being.
03:06When you meet him that you're kind of like, oh, wow, he is like very nice and like is is not that I'm surprised that he has so much empathy to him.
03:21But, you know, also keep in mind he does act as well. So it's really nice when you get to work with a director who can understand what you're doing behind the screen as they're looking at it.
03:31You know, it's a little bit harder when you're working with a director and they're giving you a direction and you're like, can I see it?
03:40Because I don't know if I'm understanding what you want. I think I'm interpreting it differently.
03:45But luckily with Xavier, because he spends a lot of time behind the camera and in front of it as well.
03:51He's able to say something to me in a way that I'm like, oh, I actually really.
03:58OK, I think I know what you mean by this.
04:01And it was also really cool because I have never worked with a director who plays soundtracks while you're acting.
04:09It is so cool. So different. But man, it really does with, you know, music is one of those universal languages that everyone can speak where everyone can tap their foot.
04:22Everyone pretty much likes music. And so then you have music and you have how you feel is this character.
04:31And then you have this like making how you feel so much stronger. Yeah, that when they come together, you're like, holy shit.
04:38And I'm also like, am I going to have to ADR every line in this movie? Do I? Should I? Should I ADR it?
04:44Are we taking my lines out? I'm confused, guys.
