00:00Hi, Amanda. Nice to meet you. Welcome to Rome, actually.
00:04Beautiful.
00:06So, congratulations for the movie. You are actually amazing.
00:11What I liked was you are the unexpected character, you know.
00:16You are the perfect blonde, beautiful, and what people sometimes think about,
00:21the silly actress. But you're not. You are actually the most intelligent one.
00:27So, what did you like most of your character?
00:33I love that Marion Davies is just blatantly honest.
00:38She's got no time to lie and, you know, to have an affect.
00:43She's there. She's present.
00:46And, yeah, she is kind of sometimes the smartest person in the room.
00:50She can read people and she understands, you know,
00:53where she can negotiate through any situation.
00:57And that's what I love about this storyline because you can see
01:02there's a through line between her and Meng.
01:04She and Meng are cut from the same cloth.
01:08They're just, they're a perfect match.
01:11And there is a lot of Shakespeare inside the movie.
01:15I mean, could be a Shakespeare movie, actually.
01:17Monkey is a tragedy, is a comedy, is a costume movie.
01:26What do you think about the comparison?
01:30Do you agree?
01:31Yeah, I do agree.
01:32I think it's an incredible compliment to David.
01:36I mean, and his father, really.
01:38The writing alone, that script alone felt very Shakespearean in certain places.
01:44So, I think that's a compliment.
01:48And it is very, yeah, it's got a, there's a lot going on in Meng.
01:55Yeah, absolutely.
01:58And this is an incredible story because it's based on the making of the movie.
02:03We all studied Citizen Kane and now we are talking about it.
02:09So, I think this is the true magic of the cinema, of the movies, the unexpected.
02:15So, what do you think about it?
02:18I honestly wish that I could see more movies about that, about classics.
02:22Like, we're so far removed from the 30s.
02:25What was going on back then?
02:27And the fact that they were able to tap, David Venture and his father were able to tap into that in such an exciting way, in an unexpected way, you know, exploring these people that we only kind of hear about, or, you know, very mysterious.
02:43And cracking it open.
02:44And I think, I think I would want to see a lot of movies based on the making of really classic movies.
02:52I think it, I think it would be incredibly fun.
02:54I like to see how things work.
02:56I like to see how the dough is made.
02:58And what about your best exit?
03:00You know, what your characters say.
03:03Did you ever, once in your life, a best exit?
03:06No, I can't think of anything.
03:10You always want to have the last word in, you know, when you're fighting or something on, but that, with a, with a, with a lover.
03:18But, you know, no, I, that's something I'd have to really think about, because I'm sure I have had an incredible exit.
03:28But that is one of the funniest lines for me.
