‘I wouldn’t be keen’: do the darker nights make our streets less safe?

With the evenings drawing in, and the clocks coming forward soon, we’re asking people in Caerphilly is they think the streets are less safe at night compared to other times of the year.

00:00Um, I wouldn't be so keen to be out late at night, you know, past, say, 10 o'clock.

00:07I'd probably walk into the town centre if I wanted to, you know.

00:11I don't find perfilion intimidating.

00:13Town possibly more on the weekends, and, you know, people tend to be more populated in the pubs

00:19and drinking, you know, sometimes more than they should, and then it may be a little bit more raucous then.

00:25Um, probably not. That's because I'm naive to be honest.

00:28Like, the reason I haven't got this is because just up there I got beat up a couple of years ago.

00:32Um, so I probably should.

00:34Um, but generally, if you, if you know what you're doing, if you talk to the right people, you are safe around here.

00:39I'm out of baggers for anywhere, to be honest, especially around Confilly.

00:41Like, yeah, as long as you don't get in the wrong crowd, you should be fine.

00:45Yeah, certainly in Confilly.

00:48Um, I've never witnessed any problems here.

00:54So, and I've lived here now since 2016.

00:56So, yeah, I think it's safe.
