Liverpool: More than a third feel unsafe walking the city at night

It comes as two thirds of women say they feel unsafe alone in the evenings - a sharp rise from a few years ago.

00:26behaviour, with four in ten regularly taking precautions. Campaigners in Liverpool say

00:32better street lighting and stronger action against harassment are needed to make the

00:36city feel safer for everyone. Some areas, including around the city centre and nightlife

00:41hotspots, have seen higher reports of harassment. There are also calls for a greater police

00:47presence at night and more safe spaces for people who feel vulnerable. Local authorities

00:53are looking at ways to expand safety initiatives, including street marshals and late night patrols.
