Sabres HC Lindy Ruff shares his thoughts on the Sabres poor starts to games this season.
Transcript
00:00Lindy, you're off with us.
00:01You mentioned the Montreal game.
00:03It felt like it could have been a game that really went either way.
00:06Did you feel like, Lindy, that was another game where it was a little bit of a slow start?
00:10And is that something that you're looking at at all right now,
00:14or is it too early to really make that a trend?
00:17No, I think it has been a trend.
00:21To be honest, our starts, even in the preseason, I thought were slow.
00:26It's something that last year we worked really hard on.
00:29And we knew going into last year the first period hadn't been good.
00:34And we've got to be good inside the first period.
00:36I thought the second and third period, we left way too many chances out there.
00:41It was a game that the second period, a total rebound or puck play was so much better.
00:47Generated a lot of good opportunities but didn't take advantage of it.
00:50But, you know, it's almost like we're easing into the game.
00:54Most nights we're getting to the five, six-minute mark,
00:57and we've got maybe one or two shots.
00:59So it's an area that we're going to try to focus in on and get better at.
