Transcript
00:00President Trump, sir, your message to the people of Australia.
00:07What do you hope to accomplish today with the Prime Minister?
00:11It's great to be working with Anthony.
00:14It's great to be working with the people of Australia
00:17because they also, I mean, it's a smaller country,
00:20but you have done a fantastic job in weaponry and the kind of things.
00:24And we do a lot of joint work together.
00:27Our militaries work very, very closely together.
00:29We've been really an amazing ally when you think of it, right?
00:33There's never been any games.
00:35We're just, we're strongly committed and they're strongly committed.
00:38There are some games with other countries,
00:40but there haven't been games with Australia.
00:42It's one of the only places in the world that processes rare earth minerals.
00:46Could there be an agreement, China has 90% of the processing,
00:49could there be an agreement over processing rare earth minerals with Australia?
00:52Sure, that's what we're doing.
00:54It's part of the agreement.
00:56Absolutely we can.
00:57And we have the capacity to do so.
00:59And part of this deal is very specific.
01:01Eight and a half billion dollar pipeline.
01:03There'll be a billion dollars contributed from Australia and the United States
01:07over the next six months with projects that are immediately available.
01:11There's three groups of projects.
01:15Ones that are joint activities between Australia and the United States such as Alcoa.
01:22Secondly is projects that will be US investment that the US will undertake in Australia,
01:28including processing.
01:30And then ones that Australia will undertake.
01:34Some as well.
01:35One of them is Australia, the US and Japan as well.
01:40So what we're trying to do here is to take the opportunities which are there.
01:45Australia has had a view for some time, a bit similar to putting America first.
01:50Right.
01:51Our plan is called A Future Made in Australia, which is about not just digging things up and exporting them,
01:57but how do we make sure that we have across the supply chains with our friends,
02:04being able to benefit, seize those opportunities.
02:07So we certainly see part of what this is about isn't just digging things up.
02:12It's also about processing including the joint ventures between Australia and the United States.
02:19I mean, is it really right?
02:20There's really right.
02:21There's really right.
02:22There's really right.
02:23There's really right.
02:24It's really right.
02:25There's really right.
