00:00This week on Maffs UK, our brides and grooms were surprised to discover that Charlene's
00:12hidden intimacy workshop contains more whipped cream than whips and chains.
00:17Wow!
00:19I wasn't expecting that.
00:21Since moving into the apartment, Sarah's made it her mission to try every possible
00:26meal deal combination in the local supermarket.
00:29I feel like I have experienced a lot of the raps now.
00:33And our first couple has left the experiment.
00:35Anisha explained her reasons for riding leave.
00:39It's like a huge onion.
00:42When what she really wanted was a giant aubergine.
00:45I'm Lucinda Lige and this is Maffs UK.
00:49It's official.
00:50Every week I host official Maffs catch up with celeb super fans, our experts and newlyweds.
01:06And we have a lot to discuss this week.
01:09Later on, our beautiful bride Sarah and the one and only Charlene will be here to discuss
01:15the intimate details of Experts Week.
01:17But right now, please welcome David Potts.
01:22Yes!
01:24With the most sumptuous legs in Britain.
01:28In the world.
01:29In the world.
01:29In the world.
01:30And how are you?
01:32I'm really good.
01:33I'm really, and I'm loving this series of Maffs.
01:38It's, it's the best yet, would you say?
01:40A hundred million percent.
01:43Yeah.
01:43Like it is so good.
01:45The drama, the grit.
01:47I love a bit of grit.
01:48Oh yeah.
01:49And they're just giving it to us and that's exactly what I want to say.
01:53I actually do want to ask you, because I don't even know if you're partnered, but if you
01:58were married at first sight, what would you say your complete package would be?
02:03Do you know what, Lucina, now I've got a little bit older, I just want someone who's
02:07actually really nice.
02:09Okay.
02:10So, just a good...
02:11No, actually no.
02:12I want him to be a bit of a bad boy as well.
02:14A nice bad boy.
02:15Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:16You can have both.
02:16Yeah, absolutely.
02:18And just someone who's like really sexy and ambitious.
02:21Okay.
02:21Older.
02:22How much older?
02:23Like, I'd go up to 55.
02:25Okay.
02:26That's...
02:27You're not an ager.
02:28No.
02:29Oh, absolutely not.
02:30You're not?
02:30No, no, no.
02:31I would love to ask you your absolute ideal wedding ceremony destination.
02:37So, location Bolton.
02:38Okay, Bolton.
02:40I didn't even know where Bolton is.
02:43It's just my hometown.
02:44I'm just thinking it's easy for me to get there.
02:46It's easy for now.
02:47Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:47The whole crew, the family, the tribe.
02:49But I'm thinking really beautiful.
02:51A little picturesque.
02:52You know, something that's going to look really good on pictures.
02:55Yes.
02:56And then your ultimate wedding destination honeymoon.
03:00Oh, was it, um, was it Sarah and Dean who went to the Maldives and they had that gorgeous little thing?
03:05I think that'd be me.
03:07So, we have had a very busy week.
03:09We've had two dinner parties, two commitment ceremonies.
03:13Yeah.
03:13And Charlene's intimacy table, didn't we?
03:16Yeah, it was brilliant, that.
03:18Wasn't it?
03:18There was a bit of everything.
03:19It was...
03:19I was screaming when Leah was just had, like, the sweets bra and she was just like...
03:25Nibbling on up.
03:25Yeah, because she thought, Leah isn't going to use this.
03:28So, let me just snack on it.
03:30It was honestly brilliant.
03:31It was just had it all.
03:33Well, I do want to chat a little bit about Nellie and Stephen.
03:36Because they had a really tough week.
03:39Poor bloody Nellie with her broken rib.
03:41And Stephen's the last one at the pub.
03:43And she was quite upset, understandably.
03:45Oh, at 100 million percent.
03:47I mean, it's just...
03:48He's had some bad news.
03:50He wants to let off a little bit of steam, which is fine.
03:53But also, your wife's just cracked two ribs in the apartment
03:57and you're down at the bar having a stalag, you know,
03:59and then obviously him at the dinner party as well.
04:02Well, that's where it really went wrong,
04:03when Julia Ruth really spoke up and good on her.
04:07Thank God.
04:08You know, Stephen was talking about, you know,
04:10his latest ordeals between the sheets with some Zee Lester.
04:14You know, that was pretty hard news
04:16and no doubt really triggered Nellie's insecurities.
04:20But I am actually also dying to know who the Zee Lester is.
04:23Yes, well...
04:23Like, I would love to know.
04:24Like, can we get that off the steam?
04:26Yeah.
04:26It's not ours.
04:27Well, it's definitely not ours.
04:30But, yeah, no, I do really feel for Nellie.
04:33Like, she was in a really vulnerable position
04:35and obviously he's out with the lads and it's just...
04:37It's not nice, is it, for her?
04:40And, you know, it really went downhill.
04:42You know, when he heard that that was going on,
04:46he'd cracked up and the C word came out, didn't it?
04:48I mean, it was iconic, for sure.
04:50Like, it was brilliant.
04:50That's the kind of stuff we want to see on Maths, hello.
04:53But it was also a lot.
04:55Yeah.
04:55But Julia Ruth.
04:57Julia Ruth.
04:58What a badass.
04:59And that's...
04:59Witchlet.
05:00Oh, don't you love that?
05:02Clock it!
05:02I think it's that one, isn't it?
05:04I love it so much.
05:05And where I got really upset was when he called her under his breath
05:10an effing idiot.
05:12And that is not on.
05:13Name calling, never, ever is it okay.
05:17No, I'm sorry, it doesn't work like that, Stephen.
05:20Like, look at where you are, do you know what I mean?
05:23Like, grow up a bit.
05:24Yeah, that sort of behaviour happens in the schoolyard.
05:27Exactly.
05:28So a rough wink for those two.
05:30At the commitment ceremony, Nellie said, well, you know,
05:33they both said, we'll stay.
05:35But Nellie said, I need you to really show up and prove yourself.
05:39I don't know how long that's going to last.
05:43We'll see what happens with those guys.
05:45And of course, Anita and Paul.
05:49Bless them.
05:49I just wanted it to work so bad.
05:53Yeah, the first to leave the experiment.
05:55I know, it's so sad.
05:57And like I said, I really wanted it to work.
05:59Like, I thought Anita's just a little firecracker.
06:02And I just really wanted Paul to, like,
06:05just open up a bit more, you know.
06:07And get curious about her.
06:09And of course, she's got such strong family values.
06:11She just really wanted him to remember
06:14the names of her children, you know.
06:17I mean, that's like basic info, surely.
06:19It is basic info.
06:20But I do like Paul.
06:22Oh, I love Paul.
06:22I really do.
06:23And I think he was very honest.
06:26I don't know what love is, but I'm here on this experiment.
06:29And I want to find out.
06:30Yeah.
06:31You know, we're two weeks in.
06:32Could you give me time?
06:33I think there could have been a bit more time.
06:36But in this experiment, you also don't have time.
06:39You don't have time.
06:40And this is kind of like the whole premise of it.
06:43Go into the end of the aisle.
06:44You're saying your I do.
06:45You're getting married at first.
06:46Roll your sleeves up and get into it.
06:47And like Anita said, she's not got time to waste.
06:49No, no.
06:50And they have left as friends.
06:51And Paul's ready to get back on that golf course.
06:54But in better news, love is in the air.
06:57Because Maeve and Joe, really, we had our first L-bomb for the season.
07:03And I genuinely think I'm, well, I fall in love with you.
07:06I do love you too.
07:11Wasn't that gorgeous?
07:12The whole series.
07:13I love Maeve and Joe.
07:14I love Maeve and Joe.
07:16At the beginning, I didn't think it was going to work.
07:17Oh, and it's working.
07:19And it is working.
07:21It's going to be a great one.
07:23And I tell you what, it's not just them.
07:25We also had Bailey and Rebecca.
07:27And of course, Bailey is also feeling the love.
07:31Yeah.
07:32I do love you.
07:33I am in love with you.
07:34Yeah.
07:34So, yeah.
07:35And I feel like...
07:36Rebecca's not quite ready to say the L word.
07:43But what she did say, that I think's got a lot of substance,
07:46is I can't imagine Bailey not being in my life.
07:51I mean, that's almost even more special.
07:54She's found her alpha.
07:55Yeah, she's found her alpha.
07:57And let's talk about the other couples.
07:58Expert Week revealed that Julia, Ruth and Tavani have very contrasting values.
08:03Grace and Ashley have been hitting some hurdles around communication.
08:07So let's see if their journey improves during In Nors Week.
08:11Lee got a little jealous and realised that she and Liam might be more than just friends.
08:16And Kira and David are super smitten and obviously chose to stay.
08:20Yes.
08:21Very soon.
08:22We're going to be joined by our fabulous expert, Charlene, and beautiful bride, Sarah.
08:26And I really want her to like me.
08:28Let's make sure she can see my tattoos.
08:30Sarah and Charlene, welcome to Maths UK.
08:48It's official.
08:51How exciting.
08:52What a handsome quartet.
08:54Gorgeous, aren't we?
08:56Look at her.
08:56Dazzling, dazzling.
09:01Now, I just want to start with you.
09:03This is going to be a little bit of ping pong.
09:04I've got lots of questions, don't we, David?
09:06We do.
09:07We do.
09:08So let's start with you, Sarah.
09:10Now, what made you apply or go on married at Versailles?
09:14So my dating life has been a bit of a shambles, can't lie.
09:19Aberdeen dating pool is quite limited.
09:22And I thought, why not?
09:24I was given the opportunity and I, yeah, took it in my stride and went, let's give this a go and see what happens.
09:31Yeah.
09:32Go, girl.
09:32I love that.
09:33I love that.
09:33Just throw yourself in and just go for it.
09:36Yeah.
09:37Definitely.
09:38Charlene, could you just explain maybe what made Sarah and Dean a good match?
09:42Yeah, absolutely.
09:43Well, they've both got so much energy.
09:45I think that's like the key thing, right?
09:47So they've got so much energy.
09:48They've got integrity.
09:49They love life.
09:51And I think we just sort of thought, well, they would just be so great together.
09:54And we know, of course, for Sarah that she hasn't had much luck with men.
09:58Yes.
09:59And, you know, some of the men that she's chosen haven't given her the love that she deserves.
10:03So we felt that Dean would be the perfect person there.
10:06Straight out of the prison gate.
10:08No more of that.
10:08I love that as well, isn't it?
10:10I love it.
10:11We've actually got him here live today.
10:15Welcome, Dean.
10:16And, Charlene, I'd love to ask you why it's important sometimes to put together people
10:23that are quite opposites.
10:26You know, why do opposites attract?
10:27Yeah.
10:28Well, I think the thing is, it's not always a case of complete opposites.
10:31And I think, you know, because we've seen two very different types with Dean and with
10:35Sarah, the assumption is that we've put two people that are very different.
10:38But we also know that there are a lot of things that they have in common.
10:41And that was the bit that we felt like would work really well.
10:44And sometimes, you know, and we've often spoken about the importance of kind of what
10:48you need from someone, not necessarily just what you want.
10:51Yeah.
10:51Because what we know is that what you want has got your marriage aside.
10:54Yeah, not worked.
10:55And that's what makes you the expert.
10:56Yeah.
10:58And everybody.
11:00Julie.
11:00Julie.
11:00Julie Bruce.
11:01We're just so obsessed with this.
11:03We're so obsessed with her.
11:05Now, Sarah, of course, Dean had a lot of songs and raps.
11:09He did, yes.
11:10And I'm sure you've heard a lot more than we saw on camera.
11:13What was the weirdest rap that he came up with?
11:16What was it about?
11:17Oh, gosh.
11:18I mean, there were quite a few in the Maldives, I have to say.
11:21And I would hear him, yeah, doing a lot in the shower as well.
11:25God bless him.
11:26On honeymoon, Dean and I had a really, really fun time.
11:29There was loads of laughs, loads of fun.
11:31I am a musical theatre girly.
11:33So I like singing, guys.
11:35I enjoy it.
11:36Just, you know, the constant rapping.
11:38It did get a little bit.
11:39A lot.
11:39But it was a lot.
11:40Yeah, it was a lot.
11:41Yeah, which is fair.
11:42Which I think is fair.
11:44Because we also say that Aloe Vera was a good joke.
11:46Oh, I literally are.
11:47I was like, I love the Aloe Vera.
11:50That was so funny.
11:50I did enjoy that as well.
11:52So, no, there was lots of, yeah, fun, amazing, fun times where we are singing together.
11:57We're enjoying ourselves.
11:58And, yeah.
11:59Yeah, I had a really good time.
11:59Because you were a fun time girl.
12:00Exactly.
12:01You love a blast.
12:02Yeah, exactly.
12:03I can feel that from you.
12:04So, you know, we saw a moment at the dinner party where a lot of the couples were really
12:08getting on and there was a bit of smoochy, wasn't there, and all of that.
12:11Was it hard not to compare yourself with what you saw?
12:15Yeah, naturally in that environment.
12:17I mean, it's already quite a stressful environment already.
12:20So I think seeing that obviously was difficult.
12:22Emotions are running high.
12:24I maybe said or, you know, looked at things a certain way.
12:27And, yeah, it's hard to watch as well.
12:30And there's something about you, you cannot hide your face expression.
12:35Oh, my gosh, I know I can't, can I?
12:37Say it all.
12:37Them eyes.
12:38There is no other.
12:40Oh, the eyes.
12:41Some people just say it all on the face and you are one of them.
12:44Like, I didn't realise just, yeah, I mean, I've been told that I was expressive, but there's
12:49expressive and then there's Saz expressive.
12:51Like, she is expressive, girl.
12:53Yeah, she hides nothing.
12:55Yeah, people know what they sound with you, right?
12:56So that's a positive thing.
12:58Yeah, it's definitely.
12:58Yeah, yeah.
12:59So, Charlene, our couples are all moving at really different paces when it comes to intimacy.
13:06Right.
13:07Does that tell us anything about the strength of their relationship?
13:11Not really.
13:11I mean, in most relationships, you rarely get a time where both parties want the same thing
13:17at the same time, right?
13:18So it is quite normal that maybe one person's ready for a bit more physical intimacy than
13:24the other person.
13:25But I think within this process, people sort of see that as a marker, as like, how strong
13:30is my relationship?
13:31But actually, with healthy communication, there's nothing wrong with sort of working out when
13:35you're going to move forward from an intimacy point of view.
13:38And of course, emotional intimacy is also really important.
13:40So you can work on getting to know each other, being vulnerable.
13:44You know, we've seen that with some of our couples that they've spent quality time together
13:47and that's really helped them to move forward.
13:48And that's why I did respect Kieran debuted as well, because, you know, they said in the
13:53gay community, we're often, you know, quickly at us on the, you know, the intimacy level.
13:58And they really wanted to create that foundation and the emotional intimacy first.
14:03But yeah, it's just interesting to observe that.
14:06Absolutely.
14:07Absolutely.
14:07I know.
14:09So Sarah, at the commitment ceremony, the experts pulled you up about gossiping at the
14:15dinner party.
14:16Yeah.
14:16And when you heard that, how did that make you feel?
14:20Yeah, not good at all.
14:22And on reflection, looking back, and even at the time, I deeply regret my behaviour that
14:28night.
14:28It was not something I am proud of.
14:30And, you know, I completely hold my hands up and say, I messed up.
14:33I shouldn't have done it.
14:34I felt really, really bad for Dean.
14:37You know, apologise to him.
14:38And yeah, it was, it was really hard.
14:40It's been hard watching it back.
14:42And yeah, I, I've definitely learned a lot from it.
14:45And it's definitely not something that I'm proud of at all.
14:47And this is the heart and the soul of this show, is that it holds up an incredible mirror
14:54to us, our blind spots, the parts of ourselves that we can work and do better.
15:01And I just commend you immensely for being accountable, for holding that and for doing
15:06better next time.
15:07Yes, thank you.
15:08So well done.
15:09And also to say, we've all been guilty, right, of having those conversations with a friend
15:14and kind of going a bit overboard in terms of our, you know, interpretation of a situation.
15:20I do want to defend you a little bit, if I'm honest.
15:22Okay, yeah.
15:22I do, I do.
15:23Yes.
15:23Because I've seen you've been getting a lot of, a lot of this and that.
15:27Listen, on the honeymoon, you know what you said was wrong.
15:31A hundred percent.
15:31You pulled your hands up, we don't need to keep going on about it.
15:34Yeah, she's, what she said was wrong, blah, blah, blah, blah.
15:36She said it, she said it, she should apologise.
15:38But we was talking about this earlier, weren't we?
15:41Where you've come into this experience where you are marrying someone, you're going to
15:47have your heart set on that this is going to be the love of your life.
15:51So you're then put into a position where, unfortunately, you're not a hundred percent
15:56feeling it, which is also fine.
15:58But then you're then surrounded by the rest of the people at the dinner party who are getting
16:03on really well.
16:04Yeah.
16:05Of course you're going to be feeling some kind of way about that.
16:08Yeah.
16:08Of course you are.
16:09I would.
16:10Yeah.
16:10You would be, you would be a little bit jealous.
16:12Of course you would.
16:13That's like a natural feeling.
16:15Like, I'd be upset that everybody else is getting on, but I'm just not there with my
16:19husband.
16:19Yeah.
16:19Yeah.
16:20So I kind of get what you said.
16:21And you were the girlies.
16:22Yeah, I was.
16:23Yeah, I know.
16:23Guys, chill out.
16:24She's having a gossip with the girlies.
16:25We all do it.
16:26I agree.
16:27I do think there is something about that.
16:29It's healthy to kind of process what you're feeling.
16:31I think what we were trying to help Sarah to understand, though, was the impact of that
16:35on Dean.
16:36Yeah.
16:36And like I said, Sarah acknowledged that straight away.
16:39Yeah.
16:39But it was more, you know, if you're sharing your views and thoughts about someone, just
16:43be aware that actually they might hear some of this.
16:46And words are really powerful.
16:48So powerful.
16:49They're spells.
16:50Yeah.
16:50And just how gracious Dean was, you know, and that journey of your open, honest communication.
16:57Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
16:57And what, Sharlene, what did you notice about Dean and Sarah in the Intimacy Workshop?
17:02Do you know what?
17:03I think that she...
17:04Yeah.
17:05Do you know what's really lovely about watching the two of them?
17:10I think just the respect that they have for each other and that they were willing to
17:13just try anything.
17:14Now, you know, most people know that I'm very adventurous and I'm like, hey, let's try
17:18this.
17:19Let's add a little bit of this.
17:20And they were both up for it, which was so great.
17:22And they were laughing and they had so much fun.
17:24So, and that's the thing about intimacy.
17:26It should be playful.
17:27And sometimes people forget.
17:29Yeah.
17:29You know, instead they sort of see it as this very serious thing that you have to do because
17:33you're in a relationship.
17:34Yeah.
17:34We're not just getting in and doing the jackhammer.
17:36Like, let's get out the tools and the bits and bobs and splash it round a bit.
17:42Yeah.
17:42Bring the playful bits back.
17:44Yeah.
17:45And they did that.
17:46Yeah.
17:46We did it.
17:46It was fun.
17:47We had a bit of warm up.
17:48Yeah.
17:48We did it.
17:50See what, you know, what tantalises each other.
17:53Yeah.
17:53It was good fun.
17:54It was good fun.
17:55And Sarah, after the Experts Week, what changed for you and Dean?
18:00I think Experts Week really allowed us to take our relationship into that next level.
18:05I think it was really important for us to explore that intimacy side because at that
18:10point we'd really not had much in terms of that way.
18:13So it definitely strengthened it from that, took it to the next level.
18:16And yeah, it just allowed us to develop even more, which you guys will soon see.
18:20So...
18:21I can't wait to see more.
18:23I'm looking forward to seeing you all.
18:25So let's play a game.
18:27Now, Charlene, I hope you don't mind.
18:29I snuck into your intimacy table.
18:32I took myself a little, you know, trick or treat.
18:36I have borrowed your game.
18:38Fill in the blanks.
18:39Woo!
18:42Sarah, the whole idea with this, it's a bit quick fire.
18:45Yeah, okay.
18:45So you've just got to answer the first thing that comes out of you.
18:48Okay.
18:48You'll see how we go.
18:49Okay.
18:49You're kicking off, Dave.
18:50Right.
18:51Go on, Dave.
18:51Are you ready, Sarah?
18:52I'm ready, baby.
18:52Okay.
18:53My favourite thing about Dean is...
18:56How funny he is.
18:57Oh, I love that.
18:58Okay.
18:59I was surprised, but...
19:01Um...
19:02Oh, Dean's rap at the wedding.
19:06At the first commitment ceremony, I felt...
19:11Um...
19:12Overwhelmed.
19:14That was overwhelming.
19:15Yeah.
19:15I wish I could change...
19:18The dinner party.
19:19Yeah, and the comments in the Maldives.
19:22Yeah.
19:22Good shout.
19:23Yeah.
19:24All right.
19:26The item I wanted most on Charlene's table of treats was...
19:30Ooh!
19:30The candy thong.
19:32Absolutely.
19:33Yeah.
19:34They were good.
19:35I wish Dean would get a tattoo of...
19:39My face.
19:40No, I'm joking.
19:40I'm joking.
19:41I'm joking.
19:42I'm joking.
19:42I'm joking.
19:42I was surprised to find out...
19:45Where we were going on our honeymoon.
19:46That was a nice surprise.
19:48Yeah.
19:48Yeah.
19:49You got a nice destination.
19:50Yeah, we did.
19:51Really?
19:51It was gorgeous.
19:52My highlight was...
19:55Be in Charlene's.
19:56Yeah.
19:57Your favourite, your most favourite former maths bride.
20:02Lucinda, baby!
20:04She says all the right things.
20:05Yay!
20:06Get out, Zach.
20:07Get out, Zach.
20:09It's now time for our commitment ceremony.
20:13Ooh!
20:14Okay.
20:15Okay.
20:15Now, you're going to have to think about this decision very carefully.
20:19I've got a good track record of past contestants staying.
20:23No pressure.
20:24I hope you've had a good time.
20:27Absolutely.
20:27So, you can write it down, whether you're going to stay or leave.
20:30Okay, thank you.
20:31Oh, okay.
20:32Smiley faces, love hearts, every usual context and emojis and pictures and starlights.
20:38Okay.
20:38So, do you want to stay or leave?
20:44Let's start with you, Sarah.
20:46Okay.
20:46I have had an absolute blast.
20:48It has been so much fun.
20:50And guys, I'm going to stay.
20:52Oh!
20:52You're not going back to Scotland.
20:56No, I'm staying here.
20:58You're stuck with me.
21:00This has been my absolute dream, being in the presence of you, Lucinda, who I know you
21:05are like maths gold.
21:06I can't, baby.
21:06Right back at you.
21:08Oh, bless you.
21:08Right back at you.
21:09Definitely maths gold here.
21:11So, it's so lovely to see you.
21:12So, gorgeous to be here.
21:13So, I feel like I could be here forever.
21:15So, this is so exciting for me to do this, because normally I'm on the other side.
21:19So, I'm going to stay.
21:21Oh, yeah!
21:24Stay yay!
21:25Yeah.
21:26Yeah.
21:26And the old smiley face.
21:29There's a smiley face as well, yeah.
21:30I feel like, you know, with our brides and grooms, they're always so creative with what
21:34they write here.
21:35Stay yay is great.
21:36Stay yay!
21:37Stay yay.
21:38Stay yay.
21:39Stay yay.
21:40Thank you, guys.
21:41So, it's been a bit of a difficult one for me today.
21:45Okay.
21:47I've really had to think about it.
21:49Yeah.
21:50Yeah.
21:51I've really had to think about it, for sure.
21:54Obviously, speaking about the intimacy as well, got me going a bit.
21:59Would have got the waters flowing.
22:00No, just the juices flowing.
22:01Yeah, yeah, for sure.
22:02Obviously, speaking to Sarah as well, icon.
22:06Right.
22:06But do you know what?
22:08Okay.
22:09I'm going to stay and slay!
22:13Stay and slay!
22:14Stay and slay!
22:16Stay and slay!
22:16Yeah, baby!
22:17Three saves, yay!
22:20So good.

22:39Our remaining couples are going to be put to the test next week for in-laws week.
22:44Will Nellie and Stephen be able to move on?
22:49Will the arrival of new couples shake up the group?
22:52And will Leah ever get her candle wax massage?
22:57Join me back here next week with one of our favourite TV couples, Marcus and Misha, and
23:02another one of our newlyweds, because we are definitely going to need to debrief.
23:07Now, how can I kill some time before the next episode of Mavs?
23:11Fancy a round of golf, Paul?
23:16CHEERING
23:21Appreciate it.
