00:00Thieves have pulled off a brazen heist inside one of the world's most secure galleries.
00:05The Louvre Museum in Paris was closed on Sunday, October 19th, 2025, after robbers made off with
00:12several pieces of jewellery from the Apollon Gallery, where a selection of remaining French
00:17crown jewels were displayed. The Parisiennes reported the theft of nine pieces of jewellery
00:23from the Napoleon and Empress collection, including the emerald and diamond necklace
00:28that Napoleon gave to his wife, Empress Marie Louise, and a diamond brooch once belonging
00:34to Empress Eugenie. French authorities say they found a damaged 19th century crown near the Louvre
00:40following the robbery. The crown once belonged to Empress Eugenie, wife of Napoleon III,
00:47and is covered in more than a thousand diamonds. The thieves reportedly arrived at the museum on
00:53motorbikes at around 9.30am, then used a basket lift to reach a window where they broke in with
00:59a disc cutter to enter via the Seine-facing side of the museum, where construction is currently underway.
01:09We came immediately, a couple minutes after we received the information of this robbery.
01:14To be completely honest, this operation lasted almost four minutes. It was very quick. We have to say that
01:20these are professionals. Organized crime today targets objects of art, and museums, of course,
01:26have become targets.
