00:00Hello and welcome to this national Janesweather update for Monday.
00:04We have got a huge cloud band, a northwest cloud band, stretching across the country.
00:09There's moisture pouring in from the Indian Ocean, from the northwest there,
00:13coming right on down and across into the southeast.
00:16There are two components to this.
00:18You'll also see this other system that is off the Western Australian coast.
00:21You can think of that as like the engine room.
00:24It's the energy, it's the thing that is driving this big band of rain.
00:27And all of this is going to take a couple of days to very slowly move across
00:31and deliver some significant falls.
00:33Otherwise, it is quite quiet in New South Wales and in Queensland,
00:37but there's a lot of heat that is out ahead of this that we have got to deal with.
00:40So having a look at our map, here we have Monday.
00:43This is by the end of Monday, how much rain is likely.
00:46The red and purple colours are that heat.
00:48And you can see that it is taking this horseshoe shape.
00:51So it is surging down.
00:52The heat is surging down into the southeast of the country.
00:55Quickly replaced by our band of rain that runs through there.
00:59And then the engine room of this system,
01:01which is more rain that is wrapping around and coming into that southwest corner.
01:05In terms of the cold air, we still have some of that.
01:07It's confined to Tasmania.
01:09And you can see that.
01:10So the speckled cloud that is running in through here,
01:12you'll see it doesn't extend any further north,
01:14so it's not coming into the mainland.
01:16So this is where we are during the day on Monday.
01:18Let's now have a look at Tuesday
01:20and watch this become one big unit that is moving on through.
01:24Now, a lot of it is offshore,
01:26but we've got this that's coming down through South Australia.
01:28The remains of that wrapping around into the southwest there
01:31and starting to move right into the southeast.
01:33All of that heat that is out ahead of it.
01:36Having a look at Wednesday,
01:37here it is moving right across the southeast now.
01:40So the cutoff low that is driving this,
01:42the energy that's in behind it,
01:44that takes a path right across the southeast here,
01:46between Victoria and Tasmania.
01:48So that's the areas that are likely to see the significant rain from this one.
01:51And it's wherever that low takes its path
01:54that we get the actual rain from that.
01:56There is a little bit that extends into New South Wales,
01:58but not as much as you're going to see further south.
02:00And this feed of moisture is still going in through here,
02:03but fairly quiet in Queensland.
02:05You'll notice there is a cool change that moves up through there,
02:07so you've got the heat out ahead
02:09and then the rain in behind it
02:10and the cooler air that does come with it.
02:13There's Wednesday.
02:13As we go into Thursday, all of that has now cleared away.
02:16The heat has retreated up to Queensland
02:18and is now starting to build again over in the west instead.
02:22We also have another build of moisture
02:24that's coming in from the northwest.
02:26And what do you know?
02:27Another engine room, another cutoff low that is here.
02:30So we're going to repeat.
02:31So this here is Thursday.
02:33Let's now have a look at Friday.
02:34There's our moisture out ahead
02:35wrapping around into that engine room low.
02:38All of this is tracking eastwards.
02:39There isn't as much heat to come right down
02:42into the southeast out ahead of this one.
02:44So it's not quite as intense
02:45as what it was earlier on in the week.
02:47Here we have Friday.
02:48Now we have Saturday.
02:49Moving across all through there
02:51into Sunday as well.
02:52Now this one may have more of an effect
02:54further north.
02:56So this one may actually make it into Queensland
02:57delivering showers and thunderstorms
03:00particularly in that southeast corner
03:01and a little bit higher in New South Wales as well.
03:04We're now very far away.
03:06So we're Sunday with today
03:07with all this mauling being on Monday.
03:09Let's now have a look at next Monday.
03:11We're starting to see some activity
03:12up in the north there
03:14which might be the flavour of week two
03:17as we go through that one
03:18and there are the remains of this
03:19over the southeast
03:19and then that clears out
03:21and this one does kick off.
03:23So what might all of that add up to?
03:24Not including this.
03:25This is through to the end of Monday.
03:27So here we have 25 to 50 millimetres.
03:30This is significant rain
03:31that is coming through.
03:33It's a one-two punch
03:34earlier on in the week
03:35early to midweek
03:36and then again as we go into the weekend.
03:38So nice falls in Victoria
03:39and Tasmania out of this one.
03:41It does creep into New South Wales.
03:43It stops in the northern part
03:44of New South Wales.
03:45This is a southly system.
03:47You've got all of that moisture feed coming in
03:49and then a little bit over in the southwest
03:51where the engine room kicks off
03:52to spread all of this through.
03:54As always, head to Farm Online Weather
03:56for the left.
