Oil Paintings by Patricia Larkin Green

Flowers, I paint wet into wet to capture the immediacy of the bloom-many times sculpting with a palate knife. Landscapes and portraits develop through many layers of transparent paint to achieve vibrant color effects. I finish with a glaze to give the surface a consistent sheen.

I remain an avid student of "life figure drawing" which has always been a central inspiration for my work.

Many of my paintings are from my travels to Europe, Asia, South and Central America.

I work primarily in high quality oil painting and mediums as well as Sumi-e ink. My work is influenced by Sumi-e painting, the focus being the process: preparing my palette, tools and vision of the canvas. Each mark of my brush meets the canvas as an extension of my state of mind.
