00:00So we've got some lads here running for Compton Care. Give us your first names, give us a shout out.
00:05Rich, Andy, Pete, Dan, Ollie.
00:08Cool, and you're originally from Wolves, so you're old mates from that stomping ground.
00:13Have you done the Bridge North 10k before? No.
00:15Have you done a 10k before? Yes. No.
00:19The ones that haven't, have you done a 5k before? No.
00:22On a treadmill. Have you seen the hills you're going to have to contend with on this one?
00:27We're going to have to walk up, yeah? Yeah, yeah.
00:30So is today just all about the fun of it and raising money, it's not about times though?
00:33Our good friend, Martin Goodall, we had a couple of years ago and we wanted to raise some money just for a couple of charities for Compton Care.
00:42What was the animal? Roxford Animal Sanctuary.
00:44Great stuff. Well they both do great work, I know both of them. So what's your mate's name again?
00:49Martin Goodall. Martin Goodall. Munchie.
00:52Munchie. Great stuff. We'll do it for Munchie then lads, make him proud. Cheers guys.
00:56Thank you very much. Thank you.
00:58Here with race director, what's your name? It's Vicky Morris.
01:01So Vicky, is this the 11th Bridge North 10k? Yeah.
01:05Bit of a slightly different route to the last one, is that right?
01:09We changed it last year just to avoid the river because we had problems with flooding in previous years so we've avoided the river now.
01:16And it's a sellout again? Yes. Fantastic. Yeah, yeah.
01:18Wonderful. It really did.
01:19And what does it do for the town? I guess raising its profile is one thing.
01:24Absolutely. I mean you can see the amount of people that are in the town at the moment.
01:28Tim Nash, our coordinator, has done a fantastic job with the communications, getting word out to people and just raising our profile and making people aware.
01:39As I say, he's done a fantastic job. And are you a runner yourself? Yes.
01:44What do you make of those hills that people have to take on? Yeah.
01:47I mean, is it Railway Street by the library? No, Railway Street, yeah.
01:50That's the steep one, innit? Yeah, and Cartway. Yeah, yeah.
01:53We've got two hills. Yeah. Yeah, you either love them or you hate them.
01:57Yeah, I guess people love a challenge. Absolutely, they do.
02:00Well, thank you to all that are behind the scenes putting this amazing event together. Thank you. Cheers.
02:05So, we're here with a couple of runners. We've got a Shropshire Shuffler and an independent. Where are you from, ladies?
02:09Shrewsbury. Shrewsbury.
02:10So, have you done this event before? No. No? Ah, interesting.
02:14So, what are you thinking of the hills to me? That's the killer.
02:19And we're praying that this rain doesn't start coming down any heavier than it is.
02:25But, are you feeling confident? Have you been in training nightly, daily?
02:30I've just had a conversation about how confident we are, not worrying about it. Yeah.
02:34And just enjoying a run these days. Yeah. If you need to pause and walk, have a walk, yeah.
02:38Take it down a level. Just to go in the race.
02:41And what a setting, you know, Bridge North and all its finery, to be doing it in.
02:45Yeah, it's one of my favorite 10Ks. I've done it about four times.
02:48Okay. So, what other ones have you done then that you can give out a shout to?
02:52Oh, no. Is the market rating a 10K?
02:54Market rating. Have they got a Shrewsbury one? Yeah, Shrewsbury.
02:58Yeah, yeah. Professional shops.
03:00Yeah, well, you're coming on the video. Come on, you know. You've signed up now. What's your name?
03:04Bonnie. Bonnie. Bonnie.
03:06Bonnie. Have you done this event before, Bonnie? No.
03:09No, we've got some newbies to it. So, I was just asking them about the hills and they said,
03:13Let's not think about the hills. Let's just enjoy ourselves until we get to it.
03:17You've been around in and are, haven't you? Yeah, there's a couple, isn't there? Yeah, the cartway. Yeah, yeah.
03:21Yeah, yeah. So, how often are you out running then, Bonnie?
03:25About three or four times a week.
03:27Are you really? And what distances would you be doing on those runs then?
03:31Between six and eight miles.
03:33Oh, wow. So, this is going to be a breeze to you guys then.
03:36Hopefully. Yeah.
03:37We don't do six times miles.
03:39Look, just grab hold of the back of her coat. She'll tag you out.
03:42Right, have a great time, ladies. Take care. Thank you.
03:46So, we're here with Alan from Hereford Couriers. Thank you.
03:49And he is a Hereford man. So, have you been to Bridge North before?
03:53I have, but not for a run. Yeah, yeah.
03:55Are you aware of the hills that are involved in this? Have you seen Railway Street?
03:59I wasn't until I walked up here and I saw how big the hill was.
04:03So, that was a town hill. Yeah, there's a couple of steep ones.
04:06I mean, as a runner, are you just thinking, I love it. That's the challenge.
04:09You know what I mean? Or are you crying when you see them?
04:12Well, I think what I'm thinking when you're doing it isn't to, I can't really translate.
04:17Yeah. Yeah, we've got to keep it clean. We've got to keep it clean.
04:21But enjoying your time so far in Shropshire this morning.
04:24Yes, actually, hopefully the road will hold up.
04:26Yeah, well, hopefully you'll see some things that will bring you back, you know, bring the family next week.
04:31And that's what it's all about, I guess, exposing the town as well.
04:33Yeah, it is.
04:34Have a great run. You going through a particular time?
04:36Well, I normally average under 45 minutes on a 10K.
04:40So, if anything I can do under that, I'll be most satisfied.
04:43Right, well, we shall look out for you then. Cheers, Alan. Thank you.
04:47It's still summer because there's still bees buzzing around.
04:50What's your name?
04:51Nina.
04:52Nina, you've got a role in the race, haven't you?
04:54I have.
04:55What's your special role?
04:56I'm very sweet for the name.
04:57So, what does that mean exactly?
04:59I've got to stay behind and make sure everybody's back safely.
05:02So, basically, you've got an excuse to come last. You're professionally last.
05:05Yeah, I am definitely coming last.
05:07And did you have a choice in the costume or did Mr. Tim Nasty organise her?
05:10Say again, sorry?
05:11Did you have a choice in the costume?
05:13No, no, I was surprised no one knew about it until today.
05:15Yeah, it looks great though, so no one's going to miss you, that's for sure.
05:18You know, it's definitely not.
05:19Have a good event.
05:21So, we're here with first, second and third. First place is?
05:25Alex Burrows.
05:26Alex, you're a local man?
05:27Yes, I live in British North now.
05:29Cool. And we've got second place?
05:31Jack Cole.
05:32Jack, you're running for Telford, another local lad.
05:34And just down the road in Tipton?
05:36Roy Chatterjee.
05:37Roy Chatterjee.
05:38So, you've done a personal best, haven't you?
05:40I have by 20 seconds on that course, which is very happy.
05:43Nice.
05:44Well, you were up against it to try and get a first, because you've took the course record,
05:47I think, haven't you?
05:48I've already.
05:49Yeah, I'm sure they said it's a new course record.
05:51So, how are you feeling about that today then?
05:53Yeah, I'm happy.
05:54It's my first tanker I've ever done, to be honest.
05:56Is it?
05:57Yeah, so it's a good course to run it on.
05:59So, did you come into this race thinking, I'm going for the win?
06:02Is that the plan from the start?
06:03I meant just to run well, run hard, and just take the hills on.
06:07Yeah, yeah.
06:08So, is that it now?
06:09Have you got the 10k bug?
06:10Is this the first of many?
06:12Probably, yeah.
06:13Yeah.
06:14Cool.
06:15And what about you then, boss?
06:16You must be pleased with your second.
06:17Yeah, yeah.
06:18First race for probably eight months.
06:19Yeah?
06:20So, we wanted to get back into it.
06:21Yeah.
06:22Not on the hills, but...
06:23Yeah.
06:24So, which is the...
06:25I'm presuming it's that last hill, as opposed to the cartway.
06:27Which one is your legs, you know, hurting more on?
06:30Like, that's two to three.
06:32Yeah, miles two to three.
06:33Yeah, yeah.
06:34Yeah, yeah.
06:35At least you've got a long downhill to come.
06:36Yeah.
06:37But that's when you've got the crowds, right?
06:38So, it's not too bad.
06:39So, it buzzes you on a little bit.
06:40Well done, guys.
06:41Awesome work.
06:42Well done.
06:43Is this my auntie?
06:44Is this your auntie?
06:45Well, I'm just on the video here, so keep it clean.
06:47But come on, auntie.
06:48Come in.
06:49Proud auntie.
06:50So, your first place, lady?
06:51Yes.
06:52Well done.
06:53Well done.
06:54So, what's your name?
06:55Lindsay McCallum.
06:56And where are you from, Lindsay?
06:57Oh, yeah.
06:58Cool.
06:59Have you ever done the second race?
07:00Second race?
07:01Ever?
07:02No, third, sorry.
07:03I did two back-to-back a couple of weeks ago.
07:04Yeah.
07:05I mean, that's insane.
07:06How are you feeling right now, as well as shattered?
07:08How are you feeling?
07:09Yeah, really good.
07:10Really good.
07:11Yeah, yeah.
07:12So, very proud.
07:13Oh, very proud.
07:14Yeah, yeah.
07:15Very proud.
07:16So, how did you feel throughout the course?
07:17Like, on the hills?
07:18How did you handle it?
07:19It was challenging, but a really rewarding run.
07:21There was enough downhills to uphills.
07:23Yeah, yeah.
07:24And the last hill was a bit of a killer, but it was good fun.
07:26Well, I presume you managed to jog up that last hill.
07:28Oh, sprinted.
07:29Yeah?
07:30I have to pause just walking.
07:31I'll go again.
07:32Hats off to you.
07:33Well done.
07:34So, have you properly got the bug now, then?
07:35Yeah.
07:36Yeah, yeah.
07:37Cool.
07:38Have you got any other races lined up in sight?
07:39Erm, not yet, but I'm sure I'll find one.
07:41I'm sure I'll find one.
07:42I'm sure you will after today.
07:43Well done.
