Exploring the Ruins: A Journey to the Osaka Expo Site 25 Years from Now... Yoichi Ochiai's Future Vision of null² (Slimming Space) Returned to Nature [2050 EXPO Ruins]
This video depicts the future in 2050, 25 years from now, of the signature pavilion "null²" produced by Yoichi Ochiai for the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo.
Ultra-high-definition CG is used to depict the state of null², with its distinctive mirrored exterior, as it becomes covered in greenery, rusts, and blends with nature, becoming a standing "ruin." The quietness of the Expo site, long since overwhelmed by its former hustle and bustle, and the pavilion still exudes its presence. We imagine a kind of "legacy" 25 years later, where architecture and nature, digital and analog intertwine.
In contrast to the Expo's theme, "Designing a Future Society for Life," this exhibition explores modern society's consumption and regeneration, and the possibilities for a future rebuilt from "null" (nothingness), through structures decaying over time.
