00:00Welcome to Fool Us. Magic is a universal language, and Penn and Teller speak it better than anyone.
00:18Tonight, we've got four magicians trying to sweet-talk their way to a trophy.
00:22Let's see if their magic words turn to wins as we welcome the world-renowned Penn and Teller!
00:45Penn and Teller award any magician who fools them with a trophy and a slot in their world-famous magic show.
00:51And I just got word that we are ready for our first trickster.
00:57Hi, I'm Michael Farrell. There wasn't much access to magic in my small town in Canada.
01:02At 10, I discovered an old magic book at the library.
01:06The librarian asked if I performed, and though I'd never done a trick, I said yes.
01:12It took me four weeks to prepare, and I performed my first show there. That's where it all began.
01:17Magic has shaped my life. Every time I perform somewhere cool, I think magic got me here.
01:24But I will never forget where I came from. I'll die with a deck of cards in my hands and no regrets.
01:30I've spent a decade refining tonight's trick, with many failures along the way.
01:36But now, I'm ready to unveil something never seen before in the history of magic.
01:42Until tonight.
01:49Along with Penn, Teller, and a randomly selected refrigerator, here's Michael Farrell.
01:54Penn and Teller, you're here to help me make some decisions tonight.
02:01And I brought a refrigerator with me, as you can see.
02:04My son actually drew this drawing of a rainbow on there.
02:08And Teller, I'm going to need your help for this.
02:10Would you take one of your fingers, please?
02:12And all I need you to do is put your finger on any color of that rainbow.
02:16Blue?
02:18What a coincidence. That's my favorite color.
02:22Great. Blue.
02:23Let's use this.
02:25Penn, it's your turn now.
02:29Okay.
02:30My daughter gave me some of these magnetic letters to put on the refrigerator.
02:34Would you mind rearranging the letters into a word up here, please?
02:38Any word you like.
02:39Okay.
02:40We'll see if Penn is a word wizard.
02:43I don't have to spell, I don't have to use the whole alphabet to spell word.
02:47No, you don't have to use the whole alphabet.
02:48Any word that you like.
02:50I'd be impressed.
02:52Oh, there are some sentences you can do.
02:55Some poems and stuff.
02:57Oh, there's only one.
02:58Oh, I can't reuse a letter, can I?
03:02Unless you want to use all the small ones.
03:04I could use that?
03:05Yeah, you could use those too.
03:06I wouldn't be cheating?
03:07Nope.
03:10Oh, that's nice.
03:11Peace.
03:12Oh, that's beautiful.
03:13Peace.
03:16With a little letter, it looks good.
03:18Yes, with a little letter, that's great.
03:19I'm also going to need the two of you to help me make a snack.
03:22Okay.
03:23Because I've been waiting backstage for such a long time.
03:25Teller, would you mind, do you see there's a bunch of fruit on that table?
03:28I'd like you to pick out any one of those pieces of fruit.
03:34Avocado.
03:35Now, do you want just one avocado, or do you want several?
03:37Several.
03:38It's up to you.
03:42You're taking them all.
03:43Okay, I'll take those.
03:44Thank you very much.
03:45Three avocados.
03:48Hen, it's your turn.
03:49Inside the refrigerator here, there's a plethora of different items.
03:53I'd like you to reach in there and pick out any item that you like.
03:56Okay, sure.
03:57Well, I guess in honor of my son, who's very fond of pickles, I'll take pickles.
04:06Pickles.
04:07Excellent choice, Ben.
04:08Thank you very much.
04:09Teller, it's your turn now.
04:10Reach inside.
04:11Take out an item.
04:18Oh, wow.
04:19Carrots.
04:20Excellent choice.
04:21Do you want the entire package, or would you like just a couple?
04:24A couple.
04:26The entire thing.
04:27Wow, okay.
04:29Pen, it's your turn now.
04:30Reach inside there.
04:31Something else?
04:32Yes, something else.
04:33Oh, my goodness.
04:34I get to choose all sorts of stuff.
04:36What's this?
04:37Oh, I don't want lasagna, no.
04:39I guess I'll take a little watermelon.
04:42A little watermelon.
04:43A little watermelon.
04:44Perfect.
04:45And finally, Teller, it's your turn to pick a beverage, please.
04:54Oh, sparkling water.
04:57That is absolutely terrific.
04:59I want to thank you both for helping me choose my snack.
05:02And let's give them both a big hand as they return to their seats.
05:05Thank you both.
05:06Just to reiterate what we have here, we have three avocados, we have a jar of pickles,
05:18a bunch of carrots, we have a watermelon, sparkling water, my favorite color, the light blue,
05:26and we have my favorite word, peace.
05:29Oh, you know what?
05:30It's time for my prediction.
05:32It's in the freezer.
05:37There it is.
05:50Roll the video.
05:51Hey, guys.
05:52I'm getting ready to leave Canada to come down and perform on your show, but I thought
05:58I'd make myself a quick snack first.
06:00Let's see.
06:01Yeah, I've got, uh, one, two, three avocados.
06:07Oh, I got a, uh, a jar of pickles.
06:12Carrots.
06:13Carrots.
06:14A, uh, watermelon.
06:15And some sparkling water.
06:29Oh, did I mention?
06:31My favorite color is light blue.
06:33Oh, and my favorite word,
06:37Oh, and my favorite word is peace.
06:44Thanks for having me on the show.
06:50Michael Farrell.
06:55That's amazing.
06:56Thank you very much.
06:57Nice to meet you.
06:58Nice to meet you.
06:58How do you travel with all these props?
07:01How do you get a refrigerator here?
07:03I think sometimes it's extremely challenging.
07:05I know performers who literally have cases that weigh several hundred pounds,
07:10and they injure themselves before the show even starts.
07:12Do you remember going back in time, what made you want to become a magician?
07:16It was my mother, actually.
07:18Yeah, I walked into the kitchen one day.
07:20She said, Michael, here, I've got a quarter.
07:23She took a quarter, she rubbed it against her elbow, and the quarter disappeared.
07:28And that took her from mom to supermom.
07:31So from that point on, I was hooked on the magic bug.
07:33Okay, and I think it's time to go to Penn & Teller, if you're ready.
07:36I think I'm ready.
07:37Okay, boys?
07:39One of the most amazing tricks you've ever seen, Michael.
07:41Thank you very much.
07:42Just amazing.
07:44Just amazing.
07:45And a whole skill set we don't have.
07:50We could not do that trick.
07:51I think there's almost, almost no magician we've had on this show that could do that trick.
07:56I want to tell the audience some of the reasons we're so impressed.
08:02We don't think there's any video manipulation whatsoever.
08:05We could be wrong.
08:06We don't think you used any video manipulation whatsoever.
08:10The premise is fabulous.
08:13You know, one of the things for a real prediction trick like this is you want to be really arbitrary,
08:20but it still has to fit some sort of sense.
08:23And you really did that.
08:25And the little E on the end of peace was mind-blowing, just beautiful, just amazing.
08:32All of this, one of the best tricks you've ever seen, one of the best you've ever had on the show.
08:36And I hope not only you, but your whole family enjoys it very, very much.
08:41And you should be very proud.
08:43And maybe, I don't know, maybe there's something in all that I said that gave you some sort of hint that we might have an idea.
08:51We have one idea that we snuck in there, and if we're wrong, we are so happy to lose on this one.
08:58Because it's one of the greatest acts we've seen.
09:00Wow.
09:01I hardly ever could have seen it.
09:05They loved your trick, but did you fool them?
09:09I think I'm headed back to Canada, actually.
09:12That was, they said one little hint in there.
09:16Without a trophy?
09:16Yeah, without a trophy.
09:17But you guys, I just thank you for doing what you do for the magic community.
09:21I so much appreciate it, though.
09:22You're so great.
09:23I love it, Michael.
09:24Thank you so much.
09:25It's a pleasure.
09:27Come back and see us.
09:28That last trick got me hungry, so I'm going to go grab a snack, and you do the same.
09:38But do come back.
09:39We've got lots more full of us.
09:41Welcome back.
09:56We've looked high and low, searching for the world's best magicians, and here's one of them now.
10:02I'm a modest man, so I came on full ass doing humble sponge magic.
10:07And, hey, notice.
10:09We don't like sponge balls.
10:10I mean, I guess we liked them when we were six.
10:13Magicians hate the sponge balls because they're for beginners, like training wheels on a bike.
10:18But they wanted to prove something.
10:21That overlooked things, like sponge balls, can be tools of wonder.
10:25I proved this, maybe too well.
10:28You're the shim-lin of sponge balls, and you fooled us.
10:32The shim-lin of sponge balls?
10:34Can you compare me to the king of card magic?
10:37How can I live up to this?
10:39Those walls changed my life, but sometimes I feel like they're crushing me to death.
10:44This time, I'm here to prove I'm a real magician who can make magic in the classic way.
10:50And, guys, if I do fool you, please don't compare me to Shin Le Magan, the Chulio Merino of Chulio Merino.
10:58That's good enough.
10:59Look out, boys.
11:08Here's a magician from Spain looking for his second Fool Us trophy.
11:12Give it up for Chulio Merino.
11:14Thank you very much.
11:19It's really a pleasure to be here.
11:22And, as you know, I'm an expert with sponge balls.
11:26And last time I fooled you with an sponge ball trick.
11:29But I am also a Spanish magician.
11:31And we love card tricks.
11:32So, please tell her.
11:34Just pick one card, whatever you like, and show it to everybody.
11:38Just take it.
11:38This one.
11:39It doesn't matter.
11:40And show it to everybody.
11:41And you like that?
11:44And put it here in the middle.
11:45I mean, it's the nine of diamonds.
11:49You can check it.
11:50And it doesn't care the card.
11:51It doesn't care that it's in the middle.
11:53Because the important part is that I only spread the...
11:57Whoa.
12:01And the one sponge will appear.
12:03But don't appear anywhere.
12:05It's just exactly in the nine of diamonds.
12:11But I know, I know that maybe you expect something different.
12:16I mean, when I bring out the deck, because, you know, I'm a expert with sponge balls.
12:20But today, I'm here to play with cards.
12:23Just spread the deck.
12:26The ball who vanished, go in the middle.
12:29And it's exactly again to the nine of diamonds.
12:35But I know that you know that last time I used the ball, but you didn't know that I was repeating the trick.
12:43I mean, the nine of diamonds in the middle, far away from the ball, which is in my left.
12:50I only close my fist.
12:52And that's enough to make that the ball trouble again.
12:56Vanish from the hand.
12:57And it's exactly in the nine of diamonds.
13:00But this is not necessary anymore.
13:06I will play with the cards.
13:07And I know that this is not the point of the show, that you should figure it out.
13:11But I want to explain how this works.
13:14I mean, this is possible because your card and the sponge will have a connection.
13:18I mean, if I do this, this happens.
13:31If I do this, what happened to the card, it happened to the balls.
13:39You can check, you can touch, there are just the sponge will.
13:45And I want to play with the four pieces of the card and the four sponge wills.
13:49One ball for each piece.
13:52And the idea is very simple.
13:53One, two, three, and four.
13:56And of course, if I take the sole of the ball and put it here on the table, it doesn't matter.
14:02Because the ball doesn't have a connection with the table.
14:05But if I put it on top of one of the cards, for example, this one, when it happens, the ball appears on top of the card.
14:15I mean, I take the essence, I put it here, and appear the second.
14:19But I don't take the ball from there to produce it and then put it here.
14:22No, no, no, no.
14:22I just take the essence, I put it here, and they appear before the ball.
14:27But, friend, please, tell me, just, with your finger, just push the balls into my fist.
14:39Enjoy it.
14:40I am, very much.
14:42And the idea is very simple.
14:44The pieces in the left side, you push the balls, but if I move one piece, what happens to the card?
14:51It happens to the balls.
14:53I mean, one, two, three, and one.
14:59Only move very slowly.
15:01One piece, and that's enough.
15:03Have two, and two.
15:06One, and two.
15:07You can look this very closely, really.
15:10Two, and two.
15:11I only close my fist.
15:13Move one piece, and it's done.
15:16Three, and one.
15:21Last one, like the other.
15:24Just here in my hand.
15:26Just move one piece, and it's done.
15:31Here come the last Spongible with the others.
15:38But, please, friend, put your hand palm up.
15:41Put your hand palm up.
15:42Oh, sorry, sorry.
15:42You will take one, two, three, and the four Spongibles together, tie it in your hand.
15:49Tie it in my hand.
15:50Yeah.
15:50I'm not a puzzle person, but I will try this.
15:55Okay.
15:56Okay, these are for sure, and the, maybe the, no, this is the big one.
16:02This is more difficult than I thought.
16:04Okay.
16:05This, and, it's done.
16:09You grab four balls.
16:11I did.
16:12What happens to the card.
16:15Open your hand.
16:17And there are.
16:18What happens to a big ball.
16:20Oh, but I want, I want to end with the four pieces of the card with the big ball, too, and
16:34the idea is very simple.
16:35I will use the ball as a healing catapult.
16:40And that's enough to make your card completely.
16:47Restore.
16:50Thank you very much.
16:51It's a pleasure.
16:52It's an amazing to be in this place.
16:54Thank you very much.
16:56Cheerio, Marino, everyone.
16:59You seem to find such a joy in performing.
17:02Can you just share your secret of that?
17:04I just have fun.
17:05I mean, I mean, I love magic.
17:08I love to perform magic.
17:09So, I always thought that the best way to make the people have fun is you have fun yourself.
17:16And it always works.
17:19I mean, this is deeply love, Spongebob.
17:22I always like it.
17:24Do you keep these with you all the time?
17:26No, no, no.
17:27It's not all the time.
17:28All the time, I have carrots that I have it all the time.
17:31A Spongebob carrot.
17:32Yeah, if you want one, I can duplicate it.
17:34I mean, oh, thank you.
17:35There you go.
17:36I'm going to give this back.
17:41All right, Cheerio, you made Spongebob appear in a deck of cards.
17:44Let's see if you can make a Fool Us trophy appear, too.
17:47You ready?
17:48Boys, what do you think?
17:49Ah, Cheerio, Spanish magician.
17:51Damn you all.
17:52You are, uh...
17:56I don't mean this as damning with faint praise.
17:58You are the best there's ever been with Spongebob.
18:01You are tremendous.
18:05And you know, when people get as good with slights as you are, they often forget the story.
18:12And what's really nice is that all your stuff has a magical cause and effect.
18:18And we love that.
18:19But!
18:20You fooled us once.
18:23We're okay being fooled once.
18:25That's nice.
18:26That's pleasant.
18:28We kind of go, oh, there's someone we saw.
18:30They fooled us.
18:31That was legit.
18:32We feel good.
18:33Second time, we watch differently.
18:37There's another problem with you, and that is that you're Spanish.
18:43Now, there's a certain kind of politeness when human beings interact, right?
18:48I mean, we talk.
18:49We smile.
18:50We laugh.
18:51We read the facial expressions.
18:53We look at each other's faces when things are happening.
18:57When you're a Spaniard, we don't do that.
19:00We don't ever look up at your face once.
19:03All those times when every other person you've ever done this for looks up and smiles at you, we look down.
19:11We burn your hands every single second.
19:15We watched everything.
19:17So as much as we loved you and adored you and think you're the best, you are not going to fool us again.
19:24You're the f***.
19:25It's as easy as that.
19:29Does that all make sense to you?
19:30Well, I guess you didn't fool them.
19:38But we loved that.
19:39That was so much fun.
19:40So good.
19:41Thank you very much.
19:42And thanks for the rain dance.
19:45It's a great experience.
19:47I love to be here.
19:49Thank you so much.
19:50Thanks for coming back.
19:51Thank you so much.
19:52More magicians will try to fool Penn & Teller before they end the show with a trick of their own.
20:03So stick around.
20:03Welcome back.
20:18The next magician taking on Penn & Teller is right here.
20:21When I was young, if you wanted to meet girls, playing the guitar was way cooler than making them pick a card.
20:29The trouble is, I never learned to play the guitar.
20:32I could only do magic.
20:33But I do love music.
20:37It's a huge part of my act.
20:39I think what musicians do, pulling compositions, melodies from thin air, that's real magic to me.
20:48If I think of a new effect, I know it should have its own music.
20:52So I quickly head to a studio so my musical friends can use their magic to create an original soundtrack for it.
21:00So both kinds of magic are working together.
21:04Penn, Teller, I know that you love to go to music concerts as well as I do, but I found a special way of doing it.
21:12And if it could fool you, it would be music to my ears.
21:22One of Germany's greatest magicians.
21:25Please welcome, Topaz.
21:28Hello.
21:29Hello, Penn.
21:30Hello, Teller.
21:32I'm very happy to be here.
21:33I come from Germany.
21:34Let me tell you a little bit about myself.
21:37I love to go to music concerts for the atmosphere and to dance a little.
21:42When I was a teenager, I tried to sneak backstage to meet the musicians, but I never really had a backstage pass.
21:51You know, so I printed a fake one out and just wrote the name of the band on the pass by hand.
21:59Penn, I'm sure you're a music fan.
22:01Could you please tell me any band, any singer you like, somebody who you would like to have a backstage pass for,
22:10somebody who you would like to visit, could be a historic band singer or somebody who's around today.
22:16Please name anybody who comes to your mind.
22:19Didi Ramon.
22:20Okay, now, imagine we're at a concert.
22:24I always sneaked backstage.
22:26Well, first to the backstage entrance.
22:31And there was always a huge guy at the entrance.
22:34Humongous.
22:35So I would tap on his knee.
22:42And go, hi, um, can I go backstage?
22:47And he would always say something like, well, of course.
22:49I'm sure you have a backstage pass, right?
22:51Show it to me.
22:52Quickly.
22:53Quickly.
22:53Show it to me.
22:53And I would say, of course.
22:57Oh, of course.
22:57Oh, of course.
23:01Oh, of course.
24:45And of course, here's a backstage pass that we open it.
24:58And it is...
25:04Yeah, yeah, yeah!
25:06Yeah, yeah, yeah!
25:10Yeah, yeah, yeah!
25:13A backstage pass...
25:16Topaz!
25:27They were very confused.
25:31I'm very happy about that.
25:33Me too.
25:35How many magic tricks have you created and performed?
25:38Well, maybe 50.
25:40Some...
25:41Yeah, around 50.
25:43So, may I ask, what motivates you?
25:45Like, what drives you to be so productive?
25:4750X is a lot.
25:49Well, I think that in magic we can still invent new things.
25:57Magic is, in that sense, relatively young.
26:01We have not found, you know, 1% of what's possible.
26:07And that's why Fool Us is so great.
26:09There will always be original magic to be seen here on the stage.
26:13All right, Topaz, let's see if you've danced your way to a Fool Us trophy.
26:23Shall we?
26:24Boys?
26:25Ah, Topaz.
26:26First of all, let me say great.
26:29Loved it.
26:30And we know Professor Scheer's rope trick.
26:33We know that.
26:34We know how all the rope trick stuff works.
26:36But I want to talk a little bit about how the game gets played that people might not know.
26:43And that is, Teller and I are both wearing mics.
26:46Even Teller's wearing a mic.
26:47So we sit here talking to each other, and the judges hear everything we say.
26:52So we had a method for this.
26:55We figured out a way to do it, knowing you're crafty, that almost worked.
27:02It almost worked.
27:04We almost had it solved, but we were really bothered by a couple things about it.
27:09So finally, they kept saying, no, no, no, it's a fool, it's a fool, no, no, no, it's a fool, he's got you.
27:19And we would not accept it.
27:21So we said to them, listen, tell us how this guy did it.
27:28Tell us.
27:30So, after a lot of begging, they did.
27:35They explained to us in detail how you did it.
27:39And you son of a bitch.
27:40One of the most clever, brilliant, ballsy things we have ever heard.
27:49Bring down the trophy.
27:50Bring it down.
27:51Bring it down.
27:52Bring it down.
27:53Bring it, bring it down.
27:56Faster than that.
27:57Congratulations.
27:58Holy moly.
27:59Unbelievable.
28:00Unbelievable.
28:02Unbelievable.
28:04Unbelievable.
28:05Brilliant.
28:06Give it up for Topas, everyone.
28:08Unbelievable.
28:09What an honor.
28:10Topas.
28:11What a beautiful eye.
28:12Hi, Topas.
28:13Thank you so much.
28:14Take your trophy.
28:15Woo!
28:16Topas just got his hands on a trophy, and Penn and Teller have got their hands full with more magicians on the way when Fool Us returns.
28:30Woo!
28:44Welcome back.
28:45We've had one fooler in the house so far.
28:47Can our next magician make it too?
28:51I'm Toby.
28:52I'm from Germany.
28:53I'm a magician and a physicist.
28:55I'm working on my PhD thesis, solar cells, and how to make them better.
29:01Just like with magic, I'm using my head to figure out a new way to do something that was never done before.
29:07Magic and physics are two separate things in my life, but they both come from the same desire.
29:12To see people's eyes light up when they see something amazing.
29:15When it's physics, I like to explain what you see.
29:18But when it's magic, I like to keep the secrets for myself.
29:21Penn, Teller, I always love puzzles, and I know you like them too.
29:25Let's see if you can figure this one out.
29:28It's going to be tough.
29:36Put your hands together for the magic of Toby Rudolph.
29:39Hi.
29:40I'm here to show you some magic.
29:41Obviously.
29:42All I'm going to need for this is a candle and a little bit of magical atmosphere.
29:51I won't limit myself for coins. I will make some real money for you. I will transform any bill into a hundred.
30:06All I need for this is a loan. Do you have any money with you? Please take out some bills if you have. Hi.
30:24May I take your bill? Can I use yours? Can you come up to the table? Just right here.
30:31Hi. What's your name?
30:34Kylie.
30:35Kylie. Nice to meet you.
30:36You too.
30:37Which bill did you bring?
30:38It's a 20.
30:39A 20. Perfect. Perfect.
30:40Before, I'm going to transform the 20 into a hundred. Kylie.
30:44Mm-hmm.
30:45I want you to know that just in case something goes wrong, you can choose and take any fruit and throw it on me.
30:50Okay?
30:51Okay.
30:53Just in case. So, which fruit do you want to hit me with?
30:55How about the tomato?
30:57Okay.
30:59Yeah, then the tomato it is.
31:01So, in exchange for the tomato, I'm going to take your bill. Can you hold it up in front for me?
31:05So I can take it clearly from you. And I'm going to give you, for exchange, the tomato.
31:10Can you come up? What we're going to do is, we need to remember the number on the bill. Can you, uh, pen?
31:17Could you write the number down, please?
31:19I sure can.
31:20Good. Kylie, would you read out maybe the first four digits? Maybe also letters.
31:25Letters, too.
31:26Yes.
31:27PG07.
31:28Perfect. And maybe the last three at the letter.
31:32Uh, 254H.
31:35And do you have that?
31:36P307254H.
31:39Perfect. Yeah. Great.
31:41All right. Then, we can start. All we're going to do is heat the bill up a little bit.
31:46What?
31:49Just a bit.
31:51No, not like this. This could go wrong.
31:53I have a protection for your bill. I have here an envelope.
31:58So we're going to place your bill inside, so it will be protected by the flames. Okay?
32:02Just like this.
32:04Just like this.
32:06Let's heat it. Perfect.
32:08Okay.
32:09And now we can start.
32:11We just heat it up a little bit. Just a little bit. The envelope is going to burn.
32:17The energy is going into the bill. The 20 will transform. The molecular structure of the bill will change.
32:25It looks a bit different than I practiced it, to be honest. But trust the process.
32:29The energy will go. So, you can see the color changed already a bit.
32:32And then, the 100 will come out of the ashes. Oh, ashes is a good point, but I'm prepared.
32:36So, the 100 will come out of the ashes, like the phoenix.
32:39I think I know where we went wrong. We didn't say the magic words. Kylie, do you have another 20?
32:50No. No, it's okay.
32:52Okay, all right. No worries. Let me see.
32:55Look, it's not completely burned. There's like a little bit left here. Let's change.
33:03Okay. Let me show you a miracle.
33:05To make your money up here, back up here, all we need is a little bit of magical atmosphere and a tomato.
33:12Do you happen to have one?
33:14Yeah, right here.
33:15What a coincidence. Can you hold it up front in you?
33:18And then, we just need to say the magic words and we need a magic wand. I have one.
33:24Focus, focus.
33:26And then I can give you your money back.
33:27Okay, where is it?
33:28Actually, I don't have to. You had it all the time.
33:30So, let me cut the tomato. Look at my hands. There's nothing inside except the tomato.
33:34I cut around the equator of the tomato.
33:43Wow.
33:44So, this does look like a tranny, but not any tranny. Can you maybe take it? I don't want to touch it. It's a bit wet and nasty, but please, can I help you.
34:02Let me unroll it for you. Because it's not any tranny. It's a bit rolled up and folded. And it's a tranny where a corner is missing.
34:13Do you have the rest of the... Yeah, maybe look. If it matches, it does match exactly onto the mystery. It's a perfect match.
34:26But the more important part is the number. Kelly, can you read out the first four digits? Pen, are you ready?
34:32I'm ready.
34:33PG-07.
34:34At the last three, four.
34:36254H.
34:37That's the same serial number.
34:38It's a miracle.
34:39It's a miracle.
34:40It's a miracle.
34:41It's a miracle.
34:42It's a miracle.
34:43It's a miracle.
34:44It's a serial number.
34:45But I want to, I won't let you go like this. Let me, as a last, last thing here, let me try to restore it for you. Just have to...
35:00Go like this.
35:03And then, it's like brand new. It's completely restored. It's a bit wet, but it will dry. Thank you very much for helping me. That's your brill and that's your applause.
35:16Nice to meet you.
35:21Wow.
35:22This is based on a classic trick, isn't it?
35:24Oh, definitely, yeah. It's a classic trick, isn't it?
35:27This is based on a classic trick, isn't it?
35:29Oh, definitely, yeah. It's a classic. This trick is about a hundred years old, I guess. Usually, it's done with the lemon.
35:35But you made it work with the tomato.
35:36Yes.
35:37Were you hoping that she was going to choose the lemon?
35:39No, she can choose any of them. I hope so.
35:41Do you think that magic is having a renaissance?
35:44Yes, definitely. I think magic has a renaissance. Let's see how long it lasts, because magic is wonderful. Magic is beautiful. Magic makes your eyes bark. It makes your heart beat stronger and faster. Magic brings people together. If I'm bored, I just go to some people, show them a trick, and I will have new friends. A lot of them.
36:04All right, Toby. It's time to find out if you fooled the boys. Let's do it. Penn and Teller.
36:10Hey, Toby. That's a great routine, starting with the candle and everything. It's just wonderful all the way through. And I will also say, because we have strong opinions on this, you had a great audience member. Sometimes you get a dud, but she was really wonderful. So, how about hearing it for her? You did a great job.
36:29And what you have is a wonderful version of what's hardly even called the Bill of the Lemon, because you've taken it so much further. You have loads of fruit up there. She really could, just so that people know, she could really choose any one of them at all.
36:50And you had so many add-ons from the original trick that it really made it something different. I mean, I'm calling it the Bill of the Lemon, but it's really much, much more than that. It's inspired by that, but it certainly is much more a lot of stuff that you added on.
37:06And we just loved it, but we think we followed it a little bit. And please forgive us, but we think we put some words in there that might make you think we know what's going on there. What do you think?
37:18Toby, are they clued into your trick?
37:21I think they got me.
37:24Nicely done, Toby.
37:26Well, Toby, you didn't pull them, but you were wonderful. Thank you, Toby.
37:29Toby, you love.
37:30And after the break, see the stars of our show, Penn and Teller, do what they do best. Stick around.
37:54Welcome back. Along with an unsuspecting member of our studio audience, put your hands together for the stars of our show,
38:00Penn and Teller.
38:04You know, I don't have good hearing. I don't have good eyesight. Even my glasses, I don't see perfectly.
38:11I always feel like I'm missing a lot of the world. We asked for someone from the audience who had really good eyesight.
38:16You have really good eyesight? And what is your name, our newest man?
38:18It's Christy.
38:19Hello, Christy. So nice to meet you. Stand over there behind that line.
38:22I want to see how good your eyesight is. Okay, Christy?
38:26So let me just stop. We have an eye chart. You're 20 feet away.
38:29So I'm going to have you 25 feet away. How far down can you read with your left eye?
38:33My left eye?
38:34What number?
38:35Let's see. Nine, I think.
38:37Okay, read it out.
38:38A-U-T-H-E-T-H-E-R-S-E-R-S-E-R-S-E.
38:41Very, very good. Try the other eye.
38:43Same line?
38:44Let's see. Lower.
38:46Lower. Why? You're going to 10? What is that?
38:47E-N-T-I-U.
38:52Wonderful, wonderful.
38:53And now are you close up?
38:54Because we have really a tough test.
38:57These are the terms of service that you sign all the time.
39:01Oh.
39:02Now, you've signed all of this.
39:04There's no joke about that.
39:05You've signed all of this.
39:07Every time you click, I read this and accept this.
39:10This is what you sign.
39:12That size, type all these pages.
39:14Now, can you read that okay?
39:16Can you read it at all?
39:19Try.
39:20Let's see.
39:21You agree?
39:22You can read a little bit.
39:23But if we give you this magnifying glass, you can see much better as it's there.
39:29You can see in there.
39:31Oh, yeah.
39:31Much better.
39:32Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah.
39:32Much better.
39:33Since you can see here, if you pick any page of this, I'll let you turn it.
39:37Pick any page you like.
39:40You can even look.
39:41Point to any place you want there on the page.
39:43Now, yeah, we'll just put that down there.
39:47And you see, if you can see one word.
39:50Pick a long word.
39:51Don't pick, like, two or can.
39:52Do you see a word in there?
39:54Authenticate.
39:55Authenticate?
39:55Yes.
39:56You've looked in there and seen Authenticate.
39:57Now, you've seen that with the magnifying glass.
40:00Want to see if you can find that without the magnifying glass.
40:03Look there, right where you were.
40:04See if you can find Authenticate.
40:06You're looking for the word Authenticate.
40:07Look for the word Authenticate.
40:11Look anywhere you want for the word Authenticate.
40:14Look for Christy.
40:15Look for the word Authenticate.
40:16Christy!
40:17Look for the word Authenticate.
40:18There it is.
40:19Right there.
40:20Authenticate.
40:20You know, I said you were seeing things I wasn't seeing.
40:24Come over here to the eye chart you were actually looking at.
40:27You see, it says here what you were looking at.
40:30Authenticate, A-U-T-H-E-N-T-I-C-A-T-E.
40:37Authenticate.
40:37You're looking right at it.
40:39And the line you read was line nine.
40:42Authenticate.
40:43And it goes around here.
40:44Kate.
40:45Actually, way up here, the name of the company is Authenticate.
40:49Here it is.
40:50Authenticate with the ID.
40:51Up here, this QR code.
40:53Guess what that says you do with your camera?
40:55Authenticate.
40:56Authenticate.
40:56Yeah, there's a lot here you can find.
40:58There are 39 different Authenticates here.
41:01You can take that back to your seat and find them all.
41:04That's Christy there.
41:05Christy.
41:08I can't read that.
41:10Not a lot of the other ones.
41:13I was authentically fooled by this trick and all of our amazing tricks tonight.
41:17Join us next time for another fantastic episode of Fool Us.
41:21Good night.
41:28Good night.
41:52Good night.
41:52Good night.
41:53You
