00:01A Polish court on Friday blocked the extradition to Germany of a Ukrainian man suspected of involvement in the 2022 attack on the Nord Stream gas pipelines.
00:11The 46-year-old suspect, identified as Wladimir Z, was arrested near Warsaw in September on a German war.
00:20German prosecutors allege he was a trained diver who helped place explosives on the pipelines, but his lawyer says he denies the charges.
00:27The Warsaw court rejected the extradition and ordered his immediate release.
00:32The ruling follows statements by Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk that handing the suspect over was not in Poland's interest.
00:41Tusk said earlier this month that the real problem was that the pipeline was built, not that it was blown up.
00:50The suspect is one of the two Ukrainians sought in the case.
00:53A second suspect arrested in Italy also had his extradition halted by a top court this week.
