00:00Ukraine says repairs to the Douzhba oil pipeline will be completed this spring, but the politics surrounding it are far
00:09from fixed.
00:11President Zelensky confirmed this week the work is underway on the pipeline, which Kiev says was struck by a Russian
00:17drone in late January.
00:20The pipeline carries Russian oil to Hungary and Slovakia through Ukrainian territory,
00:25and this disruption has caused a major rift between Kiev and Budapest.
00:30Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orban has accused Kiev of deliberately keeping the pipeline shopped for political reasons,
00:37blocking a €90 billion EU loan to Kiev in retaliation.
00:42But Zelensky has pushed back, saying he is effectively being forced to restore the flow of Russian oil
00:49and comparing it to lifting European sanctions on Moscow.
00:52The European Commission says Brussels and Kiev are broadly aligned on timing, but has stopped short of saying any more.
