00:00Uzbekistan's influence
00:29reached far beyond its borders, connected through trade and hajj roots.
00:34Yet, the cultural treasures that held these memories were scattered across the world.
00:40The Center for Islamic Civilization in Tashkent displays both restored artifacts
00:45and valuable exhibits from abroad.
00:48Among them, there are Quran manuscripts, ceremonial objects and a rare fragment of the Kaaba's Kiswa,
00:54all representing centuries of faith, knowledge and craftsmanship
00:59that continue to define Uzbekistan's cultural identity today.
01:05Many of these treasures have been brought back to the country through years of dedicated effort.
01:10It is very important for the young generation of this country
01:15to know that they are the inheritors of a very proud civilization.
01:19Also, I think for Europe and for the West, it is important to be reminded
01:24that these were the major centers of learning.
01:27Through international cooperation, diplomatic negotiations and expert legal work,
01:33Uzbekistan has managed to recover numerous artifacts.
01:37For instance, 325 ancient items that were being smuggled across the border
01:43were seized by the Customs Committee and handed over to the center's collection.
01:48In addition, for the first time, the center participated in the Sotheby's and Christie's auctions.
02:11From both auctions, as well as from private collectors and art galleries,
02:16around 600 historical objects were acquired for the center.
02:21The collaboration between Christie's and the Center for Islamic Civilizations is a relatively new one,
02:28but it's an extremely exciting one for us.
02:30In the course of the last auction, the Center for Islamic Civilizations was very active
02:34in bidding on a number of lots, a number of items, many of which were acquired for the museum.
02:39The Center has also established similar cultural partnerships with other countries.
02:45The House of Islamic Arts in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia,
02:49has presented certain valuable exhibits to be displayed as part of the opening.
02:53The Center for Islamic Arts in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia,
03:23is rarely found in other museums in the country.
03:44Beyond collecting artefacts, the Center for Islamic Civilization serves as a research and educational hub.
03:57Here, historians, conservators and scholars work together to study ancient manuscripts,
04:05restore delicate objects and share this knowledge with the next generation and the public.
04:10In this place, objects that have survived centuries of time and decades are given new life.
04:17In this way, by preserving and sharing these treasures,
04:46the Center has become a place where history, art and knowledge come together
04:51and where the story of this country continues to unfold.
