02:45I've actually had like a season in my chest all day
02:49Is it this class? Is it the one?
02:51School isn't for everyone, people can say that
02:53But it really just doesn't suit me at all
02:55It's pure self-control that I'm even still here
02:58Like I wasn't made for school
02:59A lần today said, you know what would be great
03:01Is if you did more maths
03:02Yeah, more maths
03:03Yeah, love that
03:04The teachers are really laying it on at the moment
03:06Trying to get people into gear
03:08It's always the students who are already stressed
03:10Or get more stressed by them
03:11So every teacher now is like, come on lads
03:12Like you have to start taking this seriously
03:14So get the one with the no squares in it's right
03:17And then sub it into the quadratic
03:19So whether you get x equals or whether you get y equals
03:21Alana has struggled with school refusal over the years
03:24And almost dropped out completely in fourth year
03:27Oh, Alana's early years in the school were pretty disastrous
03:31Didn't care about school
03:35Never wanted to be here, never was here
03:37It created a lot of other different issues in my life
03:40Transition year, she was here about a quarter of the time
03:43She was either absent or partially absent for the rest of the year
03:47It was a cycle that I was trapped in because
03:50I wouldn't go to school because I was having a hard day or whatever
03:52And then I'd get killed at home being like, why aren't you in school?
03:56This is truancy and absenteeism
03:58And then I'd go to school and they'd kill me for not being in school while I was there
04:01I kind of felt that I was failing as a mother
04:05That she was getting detention in school
04:07But like, I don't know what else I could do
04:10I was gone in the morning before her
04:12You know, back after her
04:14Like, I thought she'd be in school and stuff
04:15And obviously she wasn't
04:17Oh, flip it
04:19One is five times minus twelve
04:21She was very down with herself
04:22And she was possibly hanging out with the wrong crowd
04:25And we just had to go after her
04:27To get her back in
04:28You know, it was hard work
04:29Where did we lose yourself?
04:31Um
04:32Everybody else
04:34Looking out the window, that was my problem
04:35Anything else but the maths
04:37True, true
04:38Having missed out on so much school
04:41Alana has a lot of catching up to do
04:43Time out, time out
04:45A big number
04:45And she's gonna need to dig deep into self-belief to get there
04:50Oh, yeah
04:50I'm gonna have one of those maths brains
04:53I'm so glad I speak of a maths brain
04:55With sixth year now, I'm kind of feeling it
04:57That I'm kind of losing myself again
04:59I hate good numbers
05:00It's myself who's putting the pressure on me
05:01And I guess it's kind of myself telling me
05:05Oh, you can't do this, you can't do that
05:06You won't get the points for this
05:07You won't have the time for that, whatever
05:08And I'm my own worst critic
05:10Are you someone with a maths brain, John?
05:12I don't know
05:13I have much of a school brain in general
05:16Thanks, sir
05:17I think we'd have to keep an eye on Alana
05:20To the bitter end here
05:21Because, you know, students can revert to type
05:23You know, that's ingrained
05:25If you've missed a pile of school
05:27It doesn't escape
05:29And it doesn't leave you
05:30No longer the newbies in the school
05:37The second years are back
05:39With a swagger
05:40And they're going to rule the school
05:43But yeah, there's a massive change there
05:46From the first and second year
05:46Like, again, like, first years come in
05:48They're like
05:48Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah
05:49It's all a novelty, like, yeah
05:50They're lovely, like, and they're great
05:51They're still babies in real estate
05:52And they're babies, like, and they'll ask you loads of questions, like
05:55And then you rock into, like, second years
05:57And you're like, right, lads, what do you do here?
05:58And they're just like
05:59Hanging from the rafters
06:01Second years
06:03They're horrible
06:05Listen, all you second years, yeah
06:06Don't be walking around like you own the school
06:08You were in first years
06:10Just a couple of months ago
06:10You're still
06:11You're still at that level
06:13You're still a baby
06:13Like, you're still a baby
06:15Four years of disgrace
06:17Yeah
06:17What is the last thing you spoke about in class
06:21When I was in here
06:22Drugs
06:22Sure, no one's an angel
06:25I'd say we put it that way
06:26Nobody's an angel
06:27And one second year
06:30Caelan is really starting to get noticed
06:33For all the wrong reasons
06:35Don't like learning
06:45Bring down the chair for me
06:47Why isn't me doing this?
06:49I come to school because I kind of have to go to school, to be fair
06:51I just like playing sports
06:55And I don't want to be stuck in school either
06:57I'd rather be out playing matches
06:58To get out of classes as well
07:00My bag's like broken
07:03I can't take my French books out
07:06School gets on my nerves
07:08Especially some teachers as well
07:11In some classes
07:12Caelan, don't do what?
07:14I can't open my bag
07:16Why not?
07:17Because, do you know, the thing covering the zip?
07:20Yeah, come here
07:20That's fine
07:21Yeah, show me
07:21Caelan is a challenging student
07:23I wasn't in one day
07:30In every aspect
07:31It's kind of defiant sometimes, you know
07:34Miss
07:37I fix my bag
07:39Très bien, OK
07:40Miss and Bo, my French teacher
07:42Sometimes I could get on with Miss and Bo
07:46But half the time I wouldn't really
07:47It's not the easiest class to behave in either
07:54Because I just don't get the language at all
07:56Not standing English
07:59Students are teenagers
08:02They're going to act up here and there
08:04Where we would have a concern
08:06Is where there's a pattern builds up
08:08I thought everyone played like 110
08:10Everything
08:11He does everything
08:13Except what he's meant to be doing
08:15And when it comes to livening up a boring French class
08:18Caelan's never short of willing accomplices
08:21Stop rubbing my thighs, Caelan
08:24I wouldn't do that
08:26One wrecks it
08:28But there could be another 28, 29 who are suffering
08:30That's where I would take a dim view
08:32Shh
08:35Caelan silence
08:37But can we give up on the student?
08:39No
08:40We just have to keep trying
08:41Keep trying
08:42How do I skip?
08:51Put it up
08:52Clothing pattern
08:54Trend
08:54Trend
08:55Trend
08:55Trend
08:56Trend
08:56Trend
08:57Trend
08:58Transition year is an important time
09:00That helps students gain confidence
09:02Before the pressures of leaving cert kicks in
09:05But let's be honest
09:06It's also seen as a bit of a dot
09:09Though maybe not in Mr. Burke's eyes
09:11If you get it right, you point it down
09:13If you don't know it, you put it up and pass it
09:15It's a real mixing pot of activities
09:17Which benefits every student
09:20Once they buy into it
09:22Oh, oh, oh
09:24It's like a dog
09:26It's like a wild dog
09:27It's like a wild dog
09:28No, like a wild
09:29No, kind of
09:30The other word
09:31It's over
09:32It's a coyote
09:33It's a coyote
09:34It's a coyote
09:35It's a coyote
09:36It's a coyote
09:37It's a coyote
09:41This is my first time seeing Adele all week
09:42I swear
09:43Bro, I literally saw you on Monday
09:46For one fourth year
09:47For one fourth year, Adele, TY offered new opportunities she was determined not to miss
09:52A, B, C, D, that's where we wanna be
09:54I feel like transition is a prize for like everything we've done
09:58Cause like first third year, it was a lot of work
10:00Look at the total screen, 20
10:01Her's is 45, mine's 28, what's yours?
10:04Mine's 28, what's yours?
10:05The total screen
10:06The total screen
10:07What is it?
10:08Oh, 58
10:0958
10:10It's a bridge for us
10:11To like take a break
10:13She was adamant about it
10:15So I said, okay, go because it will be a good experience for her
10:19It really boosted confidence
10:21I didn't want her to do the transition
10:22I wanted her to go straight to fifth class
10:25She can finish school quick and move on with her life
10:28What time is it? I wanna buy a cookie
10:30Come and get me a cookie
10:31Yeah
10:32But if Adele is to convince her dad that she made the right decision
10:36She needs to clear this next hurdle
10:39And it's a biggie
10:40Today is the junior set results day
10:43I'm shaking, like I'm so nervous
10:49I'm really nervous because my marks, they went absolutely horrendous
10:55She can do it
11:00If somebody else can get that 5A, you too you can get a 5A
11:05My mom, my dad, I feel like they're expecting me to get really good results
11:09Because she has the ability, she doesn't want to disappoint me
11:12Even if I do get a bad score, like, I'll probably just be disappointed and cry
11:18I need a page
11:19I need a page
11:20Okay
11:21Coming up?
11:22Kaelin's pushing a few more buttons
11:24Good bit to get done today
11:25May I please press you, please hold
11:26Always discreet, strong protection, incredible discretion
11:27Always discreet, strong protection, incredible discretion
11:30It's D-Day for Adele and her peers
11:55The junior set results day is an incredible milestone in the school calendar
12:02There's going to be the students who do grand
12:04And then always there are some students who are disappointed
12:07It's how you weather the storm that defines you
12:09I need to climb up in your third year roots from last year, okay?
12:14You're not supposed to see the junior set results
12:18Junior set, like, that was like the time I was like the most stressed
12:21I've never had like a literal mental breakdown over my exams after
12:35What's happening?
12:36Wait, I gotta hide me!
12:37Ah!
12:42Wait!
12:43Oh my god!
12:44Oh my god!
12:45Wait, you gotta hide me!
12:47Oh my god!
12:48I got a higher merit
12:49In English, I got a higher merit
12:51In maths, in high level maths, I got a higher merit
12:53In history, I got a higher merit
12:55In geography, I got a merit
12:56In French, I got a higher merit
12:58I mean, higher merit
12:59Business, I got a higher merit
13:00In Pomex, I got a higher merit
13:01In science, I got a merit
13:02In science, I got a merit
13:03That is so good at that
13:04So good!
13:05Oh my god!
13:09What can I say here?
13:10That's, uh...
13:11All those higher merits
13:12Well done you, that's amazing
13:13Thank you
13:14You'll be very close
13:15Thank you
13:16The parents have gone away
13:20It looks like Adele's dad's doubts
13:22Have been blown out of the water
13:24Congratulations
13:25OK?
13:27Thank you
13:28Thank you
13:29Congratulations
13:30Daddy's happy
13:31Daddy's happy
13:32And these parents couldn't be prouder
13:34I see the result
13:35Everything is perfect
13:36So I'm OK
13:37So now
13:38I let her do her own thing
13:39Because I can see that
13:40She's disciplined
13:41She knows what to do
13:42I don't have to be a policeman
13:45They think she asked me to carry a bag
13:48I have to carry it
13:49She's the queen today
13:51She's the queen
13:52She's the queen
13:53It's not good
13:54Alright, I'm gonna go full reset
13:55Oh my god
13:56I give up
13:57Please have staples
13:58Out of staples
13:59Option 3
14:00Jammed
14:01There's a paper there
14:02We're in action
14:03One cargo line teacher might struggle with big tech
14:06But when it comes to the small screen
14:08He's a bit of a legend
14:10My name is Tygo Donovan and I'm a Formula 1 driver for McLaren F1 Racing
14:25With more than 600,000 followers across social media
14:31I feel great
14:32When I started making my content for social media
14:34I was kind of hoping maybe this would make them realise that their teachers are exactly the same as these people
14:39Can we, you know, draw their attention back towards us a little bit?
14:42So there's no point in putting all the chemicals all over your lovely school books and companies
14:47These are, you know, people in front of me, not on the screen, that are worth looking up to
14:56Let's take our phones out and let's scan in
14:59Today, Mr O'Donovan is giving a workshop on a topic that goes right to the heart of teenage lives
15:05We have to talk about your mental health
15:07And without a doubt, the biggest factor for your generation is your online mental health as well
15:12You know, for a lot of these kids, they've had a phone in their hands since the age of 9 or 10
15:17To be without their phone, it feels like a part of their body is missing
15:21So it's trying to teach them, well, if you're going to be using your phone
15:24How to use this safely and how to manage it as well
15:27You know, those negative comments that can appear on someone's feed and really fester in their minds
15:33This 13-year-old girl killed herself over words on a screen
15:39This text message came in from someone she considered a friend
15:45They are not just words on a screen anymore
15:48It is massively impacting this generation, there's no ifs or buts about it
15:51It's a completely different world they live in
15:53Like they live in their pockets now
15:55I love my phone, my phone is my baby
15:59Look, I can't live without my alarm, I can't live without Snapchat
16:03At this age, if you're not doing something with your day, you just feel like it was such a waste
16:07Yeah
16:08And I feel like when I'm on my phone, I'm doing something
16:10Yeah
16:11What I always tend to notice when I talk to other creators
16:14They always think about the four or five comments that are negative
16:17They might get a hundred positive ones
16:19But one negative one is the one that they remember
16:22And we know that impacts us
16:24We know what it feels like when someone says something nasty about us and we don't like it
16:29But if you take away the negative things from your life online
16:33Especially if there are accounts that you don't know in real life
16:36If you're following someone who only posts negative stuff
16:39You can unfollow them and it will make your life a little bit better afterwards
16:43I feel like people get like more, just because they're behind a screen
16:46They get more like bigger
16:48Confident
16:49To say things
16:50And then when you go up to them and you confront them
16:52They
16:53They're acting like, I don't know what happened
16:55I didn't say that
16:56They can say whatever they want behind the phone
16:58But when you're actually confronting them in person
17:00They don't really know what to say anymore
17:02Last part
17:03And this is the one that annoys me the most in class
17:06Because you can hear it when people don't have their phones in silence
17:08And go ding ding ding ding ding
17:09Turn off your notifications
17:11That's your apps trying to get your attention to go look at them
17:14If they take away one piece of information that helps them
17:17Just look after their mental health because of all the online stuff
17:20That's all you really want from it
17:22Is that they just pick one or two things that they can implement for their own life
17:26Okay, third years, thank you very much
17:28Best of luck
17:30Allana is a Leaving Cert student with a poor history of school attendance
17:43But there is one place where she can leave her stress at the door
17:47I guess you have to make about her clothes and sandwiches
17:50Oh stop, I hate it
17:51I won't even make one at home for myself
17:53Oh no, you'd be formalized, wouldn't you?
17:54You'd never want to make summons again
17:56Thank you
17:57See you later, that's
17:58Cork's Penny Dinners is a voluntary service that feeds the homeless
18:02And it came into Allana's life just when she needed it most
18:06So I used to actually just sit on the streets of Cargilline
18:11I'd be there with my hood up in my uniform
18:13Waiting for school to be over
18:14And I was just pure miserable
18:16I was crying as well
18:17And people were walking past me like I wasn't there
18:19And then having that realization of like
18:21This is what homeless people feel like
18:23If you think about it too much you can get fear suppressed over it
18:25But people do manage
18:26At that worrying point
18:28Allana's self-esteem had hit rock bottom
18:31Until the school arranged for her to do TY work experience with the service
18:35I was fully convinced that I was a horrible person
18:37Because I was getting killed at home in school
18:39Everyone was telling me that I was a failure
18:40As this I was at
18:41A good deed done for the day
18:43Every day
18:44It's a pure escape for me
18:45Especially this year, you'd be really stressed
18:47But when you come in here
18:48So you can feel it
18:49It's very relaxed
18:50Everyone's very friendly
18:51It's good for your lights, you know?
18:53Every time I step in the door it just feels like home to me
18:56It's made such an impact on my life
18:58Tea, coffee?
18:59No, you're going to feel it
19:00No, you're going to feel it
19:01We just want the best for our light, you know what I mean?
19:04It's the best thing that ever happened to me this place
19:06Yeah, and it'll make you very self-sufficient as well
19:08Yeah
19:09I had never gotten since primary school
19:12Anything positive in relation to school
19:15And Katrina gave me back the sheet
19:17And she gave me all fives
19:19And then the little note at the bottom
19:20The note was like
19:21What can they improve on?
19:22And she just says
19:23Alana should keep doing what she's doing
19:25And I won't lie
19:26I did cry when she gave it to me
19:29I don't know why it hit me so hard
19:30It was like
19:31I just wasn't expecting anything that positive
19:33Yeah, normal ones
19:34Huh?
19:35That motivation was just what Alana needed to get her back to school
19:39It took time and it took effort and it took patience
19:42If I didn't do something about it
19:43I wouldn't be sitting here today
19:44I wouldn't be in the school
19:45I wouldn't...
19:46I don't know where I'd be
19:47But it wouldn't be positive
19:48I convinced the whole country
19:49It's half traumatised from the leaving start
19:51And now everyone at Penny Dinners
19:53Is majorly invested in Alana's future
19:56I wasn't the best in history
19:57But I used to bring the book into bed
19:59And I got there
20:00Really?
20:01I did
20:02Yeah, you have to kind of
20:03I trick myself into learning some things
20:05Like I just try to make it a game or something
20:07You know?
20:08And we're so proud of her
20:09Oh my god
20:10You couldn't be
20:12But proud of her
20:13Don't forget this
20:14Oh my god, yeah
20:15That's my mother too
20:16She's the typical teenager
20:18Like full of stress
20:19Because they're facing a very, very big exam
20:21I think
20:22It's all in there
20:23And it'll come out in her exams
20:31I'm in firstly
20:32It's not just French class
20:34That's lost in translation for Caelan
20:37Ah, so we're gonna go back to her
20:39Sir
20:40Gonna go back to her sheep, yes?
20:41I left my locker key at home
20:43Mr. Cronin wrote a note in my drowned saying
20:45I'm gonna bring my books to class
20:47A character is what I'd say about him
20:49Pure rogue
20:50He certainly has the ability
20:52There's a level of confidence
20:53Bordering on arrogance
20:54I need a page
20:55Times, yes, it can be frustrating
20:57Acting the maggot and stuff like that
21:00A good bit to get done today lads
21:01So just
21:02Tell me anything about workhouses
21:06Just talking out of turn
21:08Just talking out of turn
21:09Or like sitting with the lads in class
21:10Because like
21:11It'd just be good crack talking to them
21:13Just sit here and don't write so
21:15Pair the mattress so boring
21:16Alright lads
21:17Do you have any copy of Caelan?
21:19No
21:20He said he's not giving me a page
21:21I can get him a page
21:22Right, can you give him a page?
21:23You're getting in trouble quite a few times
21:25There's a certain behaviour that's expected
21:27There's a certain behaviour that's been tolerated
21:28But
21:29He needs to play the game as well
21:31Okay, so
21:32Can anybody tell me anything lads about workhouses?
21:35The tipping point really is that
21:37They could kind of just spiral out of control
21:39And just give up
21:40And that's not what you don't want
21:42Sir, can I go get my urge for the listening campaign
21:44Just thank you
21:45Sir, when's the next football match?
21:47Lads, come on books
21:49You have exams for you then
21:50Come on
21:51Can you watch a movie?
21:52Nah, come on Caelan
21:53You've plenty
21:54Plenty to be doing
21:57With his school record going in the wrong direction
22:00Caelan's now firmly on the principal's radar
22:04Because the wording I would use with Caelan
22:06At the moment is quite busy
22:08Teachers are trying their level best
22:10To reward him for good behaviour
22:12But unfortunately at the moment
22:14The negative behaviour is outweighing those positive comments
22:16Yeah, but Colin, to be fair now though
22:18It wasn't my fault
22:19I didn't know about the door
22:20I literally put my hand on it
22:21Yeah, you can go to the toilet there now
22:23No, he didn't
22:25He said don't sit down
22:27It was kind of annoying getting in trouble too
22:30Because I just
22:31It just gets annoying being called into my earhead's office all the time
22:35Shhh, shhh, shhh
22:36Lads
22:37Come on
22:38Mr Troy passed me
22:39He's got a desk staring me
22:40He don't care
22:41Don't talk to them
22:42They need to get a bit of work done
22:43Nice
22:46Laughing, shouting
22:48Making irrelevant comments
22:51Hannah, why were you dotting signs this morning anyway?
22:55Lads
22:56Come on, come on, come on
22:57Noise down
22:58Keep the noise down
22:59Silly stuff
23:01I've a detention tomorrow
23:03Oh, I swear
23:04Coming up
23:05We meet the BFFs with a slapstick approach to school
23:09She bangs my head into the letterbox
23:19Always discreet, strong protection, incredible discretion
23:24Always discreet, strong protection, incredible discretion
23:30Are you leaving the school? Are you leaving the school?
23:32The trouble with the school day is that it tends to drag
23:36You get such a variety of characters coming into the building
23:40You know, some of them will shake your hand
23:42Some of them will high-five you
23:43Some of them will be looking at their shoes
23:45Some will be extremely nervous
23:48And it's no place to stamp your own style
23:51Lose any non-uniform tops now lads
23:53The hoodies, I know it's a pain
23:54But we're getting there, we're getting there
23:56Make sure you take them off now, please
23:58I think I'll start selling these
23:59Get a few quid for these
24:00School funds
24:01I'd like to think of here, we're firm but fair
24:05Lisa, where's the Himalaya?
24:08Where's Nepal?
24:09China?
24:12For junior cert student Giselle
24:14School is just one laugh after another
24:17Giselle, take out a piece of paper
24:19Giselle slapped me earlier
24:20And then Mr. Looney seen me slap her on the head
24:22But I got in trouble
24:23She bangs my head into the letterbox
24:25It's not that I don't like school
24:27It's just, I just don't really have like an interest for it
24:32And in BFF's Sadie
24:34Giselle has found the perfect partner in crime
24:38We just talk a lot
24:40We talk and we like
24:41It's not even that we mess
24:42It's just we're loud when we're together
24:44Put that down!
24:45No, teachers don't like us together
24:48This dynamic duo have been glued together since junior infants
24:52So I remember Giselle going to school
24:54Her first day of school
24:55And Sadie was there
24:57And I think Giselle was just besotted
24:59From the first minute she saw her
25:01That was it
25:02Name a macronutrient
25:04What?
25:05I can only imagine what it's like in class
25:07With Sadie and Giselle together
25:08And when they start going
25:09Because there is kind of
25:11Energy
25:12There's serious energy with the two of them
25:15I think Giselle likes the crack in school
25:18More than the academic side of it
25:20She's very practical
25:21She likes learning stuff that she needs to learn
25:24Money, money, money
25:26Stop!
25:27Oh, she distracts me the most
25:28For sure
25:29Very evil
25:30Okay?
25:31Sir, will you tell her to stop singing?
25:32It's so annoying
25:33Yeah, it is really annoying
25:34Yeah, it is
25:35If I'm not hearing that
25:36You can sing Giselle, I'm sorry
25:37I've not heard that one on X Factor
25:38It's like
25:39Hoo, hoo, hoo, hoo
25:41It's like a really bad singer
25:42Shush!
25:43Shush!
25:44Yeah, yeah, yeah
25:45Shush!
25:46Lads, stop it
25:47Eleven million Jews lived in Europe
25:49I don't think the kids take the junior cert as seriously as maybe they once did
25:52I remember being up the wall stressed about the junior cert
25:54But those stress levels just don't seem to be there
25:56I'm stressed about trying to get them to learn
25:58What would you rather?
25:59Get shot or go to concentration camp?
26:00Be shot or go to concentration camp?
26:01Be shot or go to concentration camp?
26:02So, four hundred
26:03Now you just get shot in the head
26:04So you get
26:050.5 seconds
26:06It is stressful
26:07Because you want them to do well
26:08You know
26:09You want to make sure that the work you've put in is good as well
26:11Over the three years
26:12You know, you don't want to make sure it's a waste
26:13You want to make sure you've got everything covered properly
26:14Would you all just be quiet?
26:15You're so annoying
26:16Oh my god
26:17Oh my god
26:18Oh my god
26:19You get so moody out of sometimes, sir
26:21You do?
26:22I don't get moody
26:23I don't get moody
26:25But with the junior cert looming
26:27These classroom clowns need to get serious
26:30Some people take it like so seriously
26:32But like
26:33I think the leaving starts way more important than that
26:35Give me some food
26:37What happened next?
26:38Give me food
26:39Give me food
26:40She's well able, I just don't think she cares
26:42Frank, she's ate a whole packet of them
26:44Chill out
26:45What is it?
26:46Custard cream
26:47Oh, mank
26:48Mank?
26:49You stop bringing custard creams in
26:50You're going to turn into a custard cream
26:51I'm going to be
26:52Okay, bye now
26:53Have a great day
26:58Right
26:59Morning for cheers
27:00How are we?
27:02Minding their heads is a massive issue for teenagers in the online world
27:06Today, Mr O'Donovan is challenging his fourth years to use their phones to promote positive mental health
27:13Your challenge right now is to come up with some sort of way that we can talk about mental health for young people through a piece of content
27:23Mental health is such a difficult topic for teenagers to talk about in the first place
27:27There's a huge amount of danger around social media and how teenagers use it
27:31It is massively impacting this generation
27:34There's no ifs or buts about it
27:36Okay, let's break into our groups
27:38For this project, the students are broken into two teams
27:41We can do a group of five
27:42It's the girls versus the boys
27:44We'll do about gym
27:45You feel me?
27:46No, because a lot of people use gym to help with their mental health
27:49Of course, of course lads are like, let's talk about the gym, let's get into the gym, let's live some ways to talk about mental health
27:55Men find it really difficult to talk about their mental health
27:58Yeah, it's a case of just speaking up and then the lads wouldn't take the piss out of you
28:02Maybe teenage girls have more
28:05Maturity
28:06Maturity
28:0729% of adolescents describe their mental health as bad or very bad
28:1211% reported attempting suicide in their lifetimes
28:16The girls quickly tune in to their chosen idea
28:19Do you know the trend is?
28:20Like, if you ask me how I'm doing, I'd say I was fine
28:25Everyone says they're fine, but if you ask me on a deeper level, I feel like everyone would like relate to that
28:31Oh, I've seen that trend, isn't it?
28:32Oh, how are you doing? I'm fine, but if you ask me on a deeper level
28:34Yeah, I get that trend, that's a good shout
28:36Yeah
28:37So hold on, are you doing that as slides?
28:39Are you doing like photos?
28:40The girls smashed it out of the park
28:42They were like, yeah, we're going to do this trend
28:44We're going to go in these different areas in the school
28:46And this is what we're going to talk about
28:48So what are we actually doing? Like, what are we doing?
28:52Yeah, but the boys are still struggling to agree on their approach
28:55Oh, so
28:57And you all made fun of me
28:58But finally, they get onto the right track
29:01I'm thinking Subway Surfers on the team
29:03No, that's actually a good idea
29:04Because I always watch the Subway Surfers
29:06There you see these clips on TikTok where half of the screen is this game
29:11And half of the screen is the video that, you know, they're actually trying to learn information from
29:16The lads' concept was really clever
29:19It really is what teenage boys would watch
29:23The challenge now is for both groups to turn their ideas into effective social media videos
29:29Overall, with both groups, they've done a really good job from what I can see so far
29:33So I'm looking forward to seeing how the finishing touches go
29:43For reluctant student Alana, the fear is that she may revert to her old behaviours
29:48As the stress of the Leaving Cert grows
29:50So, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
29:53Sunday start from 9 and finish at a 10 o'clock slot
29:57Depending if you're someone
29:58Oh, it's just very stressed around, it's very anxious
30:00All the teachers are like putting on the stress at the moment
30:02But like I'm really feeling it
30:04And like there's not enough hours in the day for everything I want to get done
30:07Hey Alana, how's it going?
30:08But there's one door that's always open for her
30:10How are you getting on?
30:11Are you under pressure?
30:12Oh, desperately, yeah
30:13It's a lot like every day
30:16Just every teacher is laying on like 4 hours of homework
30:19I mean for 10 hours a day
30:20Like I get her at 8 o'clock in the morning and I'm already studying then
30:22And then I'm here until 6 o'clock at night
30:24Okay
30:25My brain's just going all the time
30:26There's like a million things happening
30:27Yeah
30:28I'll just be in class trying to listen
30:29And there's just like in the back of my head
30:30I'm like I have to do this after that
30:31I didn't do that
30:32I have to do this in the other class now
30:33Yeah
30:34It's insane
30:35But it's just getting you into a space where you get the very best for you
30:40And I'm really genuine about that bit
30:42This is about you
30:43And nobody else
30:45Because nobody's going to live your life except you
30:47Thanks very much, really appreciate that
30:49You're welcome
30:50Absolutely welcome
30:51You're talking to me, will you?
30:52Yeah, I will do
30:53The worry is that as the going gets tough
30:56Alana may get going
30:58We're at it long enough now to not to become complacent saying
31:02Oh well she will turn up every day and she will do everything
31:05It's important every single day that we're on top of it
31:08Just to make sure that she's here
31:17Detention has become part and parcel of Cailin's school routine
31:21I came in seven minutes late into the class
31:23But there's a load of people behind me
31:25And then my teacher wanted to talk to me at the end of class
31:27Then she's giving out about how I was late
31:29And she went to my ear head about me someone at detention
31:32Just talking really
31:34But it was it wasn't like out of turn really
31:36I was just talking to the lads next to me
31:38Hey, are you on detention?
31:40Are you okay?
31:41I am
31:42I know you are
31:43Wait
31:44Okay
31:45Isn't your first row DOA either is it?
31:47What's your name?
31:48Tomorrow's from science
31:49Last week is from messing in my computer class
31:52And I can't remember the one before
31:54And I just had some Thursday detention as well
31:57But that's from being late and being out
31:59But with it not having the desired effect on Cailin's behaviour
32:03Principal Burke is considering more severe options
32:07If he doesn't pull his socks up
32:09I'm probably going to have to get Mum in here
32:11My mum she just had me to cop on a bit
32:15I wouldn't like to get in trouble with my dad anyway
32:17He'd be the worst for it
32:19demás
32:31Right
32:32Shhh shhh
32:33Listening
32:34Shhh shooh
32:35Listening
32:36Shhhh shhh shh
32:37I want you to describe the music
32:38Mr. Mcgraw has lived life from both sides in Carragallion Community School
