00:00Bristol City have confirmed that Rob Dickey has signed a new contract with the club
00:05which will extend his stay at Ashtongate until the summer of 2028.
00:12Dickey, of course, was naturally very pleased to finally put pen to paper on a new deal at the club.
00:18Yeah, really, really happy to extend my contract.
00:21I've been happy since I've been here, so it was really good for me to extend, yeah.
00:26How long has it been in the works and what was key to signing here?
00:30Yeah, I mean, I think we had a discussion about extending my contract
00:35because I'm into my last sort of definite year now
00:38and I think both sides were quite happy to commit, so it went well.
00:44While you've only been with us for two years, do you feel like part of the furniture?
00:48Yeah, no, I do. I feel like it's nice to feel like that though.
00:52It's been consistent here and I've really enjoyed my time, so long may it continue.
00:58You've got a leadership role as well as vice-captain and nurturing a lot of young players,
01:03whether that's in training or in games. Have we found that kind of position?
01:06Yeah, it's something I enjoy. I like to lead on and off the pitch with my actions.
01:12And Bristol Rovers assistant head coach John Stead has been speaking about how the winter months
01:17and winter months are the cold will affect how Bristol Rovers train for their League Two matches.
01:23Yeah, it's coming. It does and it makes a difference to the sessions and how you prepare for them,
01:29how you order your sessions and make sure that you're not going from a high-intensity session
01:33to a standing still kind of thing, practice more technical.
01:37So, yeah, we've got to be aware of it, but, yeah, we keep them moving,
01:40so they're never going to be cold.
01:41Yeah, which is good to hear.
01:42And just from you, because you'll have been used to it in your playing career a little bit,
01:46but moving to a new area, settling in, all that kind of stuff, it does take time.
01:50Are you starting to feel like Bristol's home again?
01:52Yeah, definitely, yeah. Like you say, home again.
01:55Yeah, I've been here previously playing, so, yeah, getting used to the area again,
02:00albeit more the north side, which I've not been around as much.
02:04So, yeah, getting used to it, but just getting around the lads.
02:06And most of my time, I'll be honest, is spent here at the training ground or sleeping.
02:10So, there's not much socialising going on. It's all work.
