00:00In my friends question, their children are very good at strength.
00:29You see what I am doing? I am trying to hide my ignorance of what is there in front of me right now.
00:48I want to hide the fact that I don't know this. So I am laying the blame on my past.
00:52This is past life karma. Your problem is because you do not know what's going on right now and you are eating nonsense.
00:58But instead of acknowledging it, you are saying, oh, the stomach is feeling funny because I ate something back in my previous birth or five years back.
01:06You see, we are trying to deceive ourselves. It's not because of the unchangeable past that anybody suffers.
01:11Anybody who suffers is because he is not making the right choices in the moment.
01:16I have a question. Actually, it was not my question, my friend's question.
01:27It's like we keep this stuff in. She says that actually her children are very good at studies and all.
01:34I am financially okay. But whenever it comes for entrance exams and all, children who were taught from them, they get better ranks.
01:44And like she says, it is all my karma from the past life. That's what I am bearing all this.
01:52And she has that question. She asked me to ask that question. Is there karma? Because soul changes from one body to other, right?
02:01It doesn't. And material effects have material causes, right? Material happenings, material phenomena do not have transcendental or intangible causes.
02:17Simple. One thing, when it comes to an entrance exam or something, your result is dependent so much on your
02:47So many variable factors. The first variable factor is competition itself, right?
02:54You might be quite a complex, you might be a very good student. But then there are others, right?
03:04And you might still find that you are ranked 5000 all India. And you look at 5000 and feel depressed about yourself.
03:13Like my God, 5000. But then you have to see how many wrote the exam. Probably you are still in the top one percentile or five percentile or something.
03:24But there are not so many seats. So rank 5000 will probably fetch you nothing. That doesn't mean you are a bad student.
03:33Second thing is the very randomness of the whole thing. You are not being continuously assessed.
03:38First, in all institutions, good institutions of higher learning, there is something called continuous assessment, which means your results will not depend on year and exams, which means you will be assessed practically every day of the semester or the year.
03:55And then what you get is a more realistic picture of the student's potential and performance.
04:02Whereas when it comes to the IETJE or you are talking about these exams, right?
04:05IETJE or UPSC or the or NEET, then it's about that one off day.
04:12One particular day. One particular day. Right? And then if you are having a good day, if you are having a bad day, that can have a major effect on the results you have.
04:27And there is always probability at play. It is quite possible that you had two bad days. That's all. That's all.
04:38And that reduced your rank, your result to something much poorer than what you deserve, not just expect, deserve.
04:54So all that is there. And these are the material causes. It's not about past life karma or anything. Nothing.
05:00Is that past life karma? No, not at all.
05:04In fact, if we can be
05:10just aware of how we have been doing
05:15in the recent past itself, much more importantly, in the present itself, that is sufficient.
05:21That is sufficient. Does the common man really know what he is doing right now?
05:33Then instead of attending to what you are doing right now, you start thinking about past life.
05:39It was like 100 years or 10,000 years back.
05:41Is that sensible? I don't even know. I don't even know. I am asking Krishna. There is food on the table here on the plate.
05:52Right? And it could be rotten, totally rotten.
05:56And I don't know what is lying here.
05:57I have just no idea because I am living life very unconsciously. So I don't know what's on my plate.
06:06But I eat it. And how do I feel?
06:10Something is not twisting, twiddling in the stomach.
06:14Why is that happening?
06:15Because I don't know what is there right now in my life.
06:22But instead I say, this must be due to something that I ate two years back.
06:28You see what I am doing? I am trying to hide my ignorance
06:32of what is there in front of me right now. I want to hide the fact that I don't know this.
06:39So I am laying the blame on my past. This is past life karma.
06:44So, it is a kind of cunning thing. It is not just about ignorance.
06:49It is an inner cunningness. It is self-deception.
06:55Your problem is because you do not know what is going on right now.
06:58And you are eating nonsense. And that is the real reason why you are suffering.
07:04But instead of acknowledging that you are living life
07:08blindfolded, you are saying, oh, the stomach is feeling funny because I ate something bad
07:17in my previous birth or five years back. You see, we are trying to deceive ourselves.
07:24That is what it is. If there is something wrong right now, see what you are doing right now.
07:34You see what you are doing right now. The power to respond, the power to choose is always available.
07:44But that power does not lie in the past. Can you go to the past and choose something
07:50or un-choose something? And life is happening right now. So your power to respond to life is right now.
08:00But the moment you say it is happening due to the past, then you have surrendered your power to choose.
08:07Because you cannot do anything with the past. You cannot change the past. You can't choose the past.
08:12You can't un-choose the past. You can't modify. You can do nothing. So the moment you say the past is responsible,
08:18now you are saying I have no responsibility.
08:24Not that I am eating bad food right now. You see, I am a very clever man, very, very wise man.
08:30Not that I am eating bad food right now. It is because of something I ate in the past.
08:35That's the past. So I have no responsibility now. What will responsibility imply? Responsibility will
08:42imply I acknowledge that I am stupid because I am eating bad food. I don't want to accept I am
08:49stupid and I don't want to own any responsibility. So I will say no, no, no. All this is all right
08:55because I am so wise, so clever, so conscious. What I am doing right now is all right. If I am suffering,
09:01it is because of the unchangeable past. No, sir. It is not because of the unchangeable past that anybody suffers.
09:08Anybody who suffers is because he is not making the right choices in the moment. And all right choices
09:15can be made only right now. Past, do you have any choice? No. Future, do you have any choice? No.
09:23Right now you have choice and choice is responsibility. And we don't want to accept that responsibility.
09:29So we come up with clever ways. So you don't know this, that, past life, Babaji,
09:34something, some Jantar Mantar, this, that, nonsense. Don't give up your power. Your power lies right now.
09:43Right? And whatever be the situation, the situation can be very bad sometimes. But always exercise,
09:52always exercise your power to choose. People can take away a lot from you. It happens. That's the way
10:00the world is. But nobody can take away your power to choose under any conditions. Always retain that.
10:07Always exercise that. And don't play a victim. Never. Don't play a victim. Remain resolute.
10:15And see what is the best you can do right now.
10:20Okay. Acharya Ji, what is karma?
10:27Karma is a reflection of who you are. That's all.
10:30Karma means action. You are the actor. Karma means deed. Doer, deed, actor, action,
10:45action, karta, karma. That's all. There is nothing mystical about it. What I have become from the inside,
10:55I will exhibit on the... Suppose, through some process, you convince me that I am a dog.
11:03So, the doer has become a dog. Inside, the doer, the actor has become a dog.
11:14So, what will be the karma now?
11:16Karma.
11:18That is karma. If within you become a dog, then without, externally, you start barking.
11:28That is karma. Simple. Which means that if somebody is barking, don't punish them. Right? Or don't
11:37rebuke them. Instead, show them the mirror. And they will realize they are not a dog. And if they
11:47come to see that they are not a dog, then they will stop barking. This is the principle of karma.
11:55The principle of karma is actually that karma is inseparable from karta. That is the principle
12:03of karma. Karma, karma, karma is inseparable from karta. And what comes first, karma or karta?
12:14Therefore, do not focus on karma. The principle of karma is forget karma. Focus on karta, the doer,
12:22the actor. That is the principle of karma. It's a very funny thing, no? Principle of karma is do not focus
12:29on karma. Focus on karta. The doer, the actor. That is karma.
12:35Okay. Actually, I have read many stories. So, just a little bit different from what all I have learned.
12:52Do you love stories? Do you love stories? Or do you love the truth?
13:04And if you love the truth, then you must first go
13:09to the principal books. If you are reading books of Hinduism, then you must go to the central books.
13:15The central books are the oklisads. Right? Go to them.
13:24And then in the light of oklisads, you can read the Quranic literature and you will understand it.
13:31Remember what I told you first, religion is not about stories. But we all think stories constitute
13:46religion. So, all these religious systems have their own stories. Religion is not fundamentally about
13:52stories. Stories can help. Stories can help in explaining a certain
14:01concept. Right? That is all the importance that stories have. Otherwise, stories are not history
14:11and stories are not to be taken seriously. But if stories are aids to understanding, then stories are useful.
14:28That is all about the trick that is alive.
14:33So, when you do not follow the author, you do not follow the author's favorite of this.
14:36The book is the story.
14:40And then you have translated on the book.
14:41The book is about www.主-ğfirullah.org
14:43This is about the entire book.
14:45And so, it is about the book is about the word.
14:48Yeah.
14:49It's about the book is about the body.
14:51And it's about the book.
14:52It's about the book is about the book.
14:54And I will see your book.
14:54This is about the book.
14:56It's about the book.
