RHOSLC’s Heather Gay Thinks She Reads ‘Harsher’ After Weight Loss

00:00Anytime a pretty girl stands up for herself, she's a bitch.

00:04And when you are heavier and you lead with comedy and you lead with self-deprecation,

00:09you're a lot less threatening.

00:11I'm as outspoken now as I was when I was 30 pounds heavier.

00:15And it just somehow it reads harsher, I think, when the package isn't as unthreatening, perhaps.

00:23But the truth is, I do have a lot more boundaries now than I had then.

00:28And I also have been freaking burned by women on this show and friends.

00:34So I was meaner to Bronwyn when she came on than I would have been five years ago

00:39because I've been burned and that changes how I am around people.

00:45And I think I still love to make friends and I still try to lead with kindness.

00:51But certainly the last six years have hardened me a little bit and I've become a little more cynical.

00:56And I like to think a little wiser to the ways of the world.

01:01I was pretty naive and straight out of the bubble when I first started filming.

01:06Yeah, we every day.

01:09Just like anytime you hate your job or anytime you hate your friends,

01:13anytime you hate your spouse or partner, you think of quitting.

01:16And yeah, I think it's a natural human response.

01:18When it gets hard or gets stressed or gets overwhelming or you're not getting along,

01:25you think I can walk away from all of this and just have peace.

01:29It's like my whole life I was looking through a very specific lens and it's given me a new lens that

01:34so it's changed literally everything.

01:37Because the way I see the world now, the way I live my life is just

01:41through possibilities that were never available to me before.

01:45So every aspect of my life, even down to like, you know, brunch on Sundays is different.

01:52Like just the smallest details and then also the biggest, bigger, grander thing,

01:56which is essentially, you know, my life's purpose and like my goals.

02:01You know, I never thought I'd have a big life and being a housewife of Salt Lake City

02:05in many ways is a very big life.

02:08Housewives is so far reaching.

02:10You meet the celebrities that you never thought you'd ever cross paths with.

02:15You have conversations.

02:17You never, you travel, you, you know, it just opens up an entire world.
