00:00Two of Bitcoin's biggest upgrades are SegWit and Taproot, but what do they actually do,
00:03and how are they different?
00:05SegWit, short for Segregated Witness, was introduced in 2017.
00:09A fixed transaction mobility and allowed for smaller, cheaper transactions.
00:13Taproot, activated in 2021, built on their foundation adding smart contract flexibility
00:18and more privacy. With Taproot, multiple transaction types can look identical on-chain,
00:23making it harder to tell what kind of spending occurred.
00:25In short, SegWit improved scalability, while Taproot expanded privacy and functionality.
00:30Together, they make Bitcoin more powerful, more efficient,
00:33and ready for complex applications like multi-seq wallets and Lightning smart contracts.
