In Ecuador, one person died and several were injured after a powerful explosion on Tuesday in a busy commercial area in northern Guayaquil, an area where drug trafficking is common. The public security company of the conflict-ridden city of Ecuador said it was responding to the emergency caused by the detonation of explosive devices and published photos of the road closed by police cars and fire trucks. The area where the explosion occurred is surrounded by restaurants, businesses, shops, doctors' offices, a hospital, hotels, and the city's largest shopping center. The police reported that it was an explosion, the causes of which are being determined by specialized teams.
