00:06in declaring class suspensions. It also notes extended class suspensions can disrupt learning.
00:12This after Laguna Governor Sol Aragones suspends face-to-face classes in the province from October
00:1714 to 31. She cites earthquake preparedness in case the big one strikes Metro Manila and nearby
00:24areas. Her Facebook Live was captioned face-to-face classes in all levels in Laguna are suspended due
00:30to quote-unquote nakaambang lindol or an imminent quake. While many supported Aragones decision others
00:37expressed frustration over the lack of scientific basis behind it. They argue since earthquakes
00:43cannot be predicted a two-week class suspension is successive if the intent is merely to prepare
00:48school buildings. Meantime, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology says quote,
00:54we agree with the suspension of classes if it is for checking the integrity of buildings but disagrees
01:00with Aragones decision if based on the claim that quote, an earthquake is about to happen in the
01:05next two weeks.
