SpaceX launches Starship rocket to test reusable design

Elon Musk's SpaceX launched its eleventh Starship rocket from Starbase, Texas on Monday, October 13.
It was a test mission to demonstrate the giant vehicle's reusable design for lofting satellites and eventually taking humans to the moon and Mars.
The launch's splashdown happened in the Gulf of Mexico. President Donald Trump issued an executive order in January 2025 calling on US institutions to refer to it as the Gulf of America.
