00:00Hi, welcome to Kapar Nurture Talk. I am Bhomika, a psychology graduate and a behavior specialist
00:11from Kapar here to help you understand about parenting style. Did you know your parenting
00:17style could shape your child's future confidence, discipline and happiness? Today, I'll be sharing
00:24some insights about the most effective way of parenting i.e. authoritative parenting.
00:31An authoritative parent in a simple way can be described as balanced. They impose high
00:38warmth and high control over their children. They set clear rules, explain why and encourage
00:45their children to share their thoughts. For example, if a child asks a parent to stay out
00:51late, a parent replies, I understand you want to, but let's agree on a reasonable time
00:58that keeps you safe. So here, the parent tend to convey their children that discipline is
01:06fair and consistent, focusing on teaching and not on punishing. The impact that an authoritative
01:14parent could have on their children could be, the child tends to be confident, independent
01:21and socially skilled. We can also expect best outcomes in terms of their self-control, academic
01:28success and emotional well-being. So, authoritative parenting is all about balance, love with limits,
01:37guidance with freedom, helping children grow into confident, independent and emotionally healthy
01:43individuals. At KAPAR, the Center for Pediatric and Adult Rehabilitation, we support parents
01:51with guidance and therapists nurture every child's growth and potential. KAPAR, empowering families
01:58and enriching futures.
