00:00Australians are encouraged to unleash their inner bird nerd by taking part in
00:04the annual Aussie Bird Count in October 2025. Every year we do a zoo bird count
00:10and this year it's going to be on the 20th to the 26th of October and that
00:15coincides with the BirdLife Aussie Bird Count so and there's an absolutely
00:20incredible app that BirdLife do so if you come to the zoo and record your
00:24lists on the app I can actually see that and then record the number of birds that
00:28are recorded in that week. The annual event is Australia's largest citizen
00:33science project and involves ordinary Australians documenting the birds they
00:37see in their local parks hiking spots and backyards. Run by BirdLife Australia the
00:44event helps to build an accurate portrait of Australia's avian diversity. One of
00:48my favorite hobbies is bird watching and I get to come to this magnificent place
00:53and watch birds every day it's fantastic as well as our other staff that are into
00:57birds as well as our volunteers and it's um it's mindfulness do you know what I
01:01mean it's it it kind of slows you down and makes you notice the little things
01:06around you and it does you know surround you in nature you know it's a it's a
01:10really good hobby to get into really
