00:01:18And folks, before we get started in action, we're gonna kick off tonight's broadcast with
00:01:23some big news.
00:01:24Ladies and gentlemen, there's a very hot rumor that New Generation X is talking
00:01:29about fighting a lawsuit against Stone Cold Steve Austin because of Austin Masters for
00:01:35China and No Way Out.
00:01:37And we know tonight that Stone Cold Steve Austin is here in the house.
00:01:41Certainly he can address those rumors, plus anything else that's on the rattlespake spine,
00:01:45Michael.
00:01:45And the world's most dangerous man, Kent Shamrock, will be in action, but that's at all.
00:01:50Cactus Jacket Chainsaw Charming, the globalist Mark Moroni, the artist formerly known as Goldust.
00:01:59The contest is taking four and fall in a 20-minute time limit, making a way to win from
00:02:05Chicago, Illinois, and combined weight of 574 miles, Animal Land Hawk, the Legion of Doom.
00:02:16It's been a long time since the LLB has competed here in Dallas.
00:02:21But these 14,000 plus on hand here tonight in Reunion Arena have fond memories of perhaps
00:02:26the most honored tag team of all time.
00:02:30But a tag team, which has been having some problems as of late, a bit out of sync perhaps,
00:02:36perhaps missing something.
00:02:38But a team that tonight is gonna look to prove all the doubters wrong.
00:02:43They're gonna say the LLB is still the best.
00:02:47And their opponents, at a combined weight of 545 pounds,
00:02:52Jacques and Pierre, the Quebecers.
00:02:58A battle of two forward WWF Tag Team Champions,
00:03:01the LLB winning the belts on two different occasions,
00:03:04the Quebecers, Jacques and Pierre, three different times.
00:03:07But JR, what seems to be wrong with the Legion of Doom?
00:03:11Well, I think you hit on something very viable.
00:03:13They're just a little bit out of sync.
00:03:15And quite frankly, they're certainly, as the old adage goes, strength in numbers,
00:03:19certainly holds true as far as the LOD is concerned.
00:03:23You look at the five members of the nation, the four members of Los Periquas.
00:03:28A case can be made that Hawk and Animal, as awesome as they are,
00:03:33there's just not enough of them.
00:03:34But I like the odds right here.
00:03:38Two Quebecers, two Legion of Doom members.
00:03:41And I'm sure Animal and Hawk are perky Rachel to it as well.
00:03:43LLB, LLB, LLB, LLB.
00:03:46Listen to this crowd in Reunion Arena throwing their support behind the Legion of Doom.
00:03:50As we get underway, folks, we're on the road to WrestleMania,
00:03:52just five weeks away from that sold out event at the Fleet Center in Boston.

00:05:08They are loved worldwide, and here comes Animal.
00:05:11Certainly the Legion of Doom, masters of the Smash Mounds style.
00:05:15And you gotta wonder if maybe that style has caught up with them.
00:05:18Over the years, they've taken a lot of punishment as well as giving it.
00:05:21And perhaps in 1998, time is catching up to the L.O.D.

00:06:16That's that in your face style of wrestling we've talked about over the past 15 years
00:06:20for this great tag team.
00:06:21Some critics wanna write off the Legion of Doom.
00:06:24I certainly don't see anything in either Hawk or Animal that tells me that they cannot compete in 1998.
00:06:30The numbers have been against them certainly.
00:06:32But two on two, they're showing they can still get it done.
00:06:36And I think we'd all agree that the Legion of Doom also have a huge score to settle with a new age outlaws.
00:06:42And that could be all about the WWF Tag Team Championship.
00:06:46A lot of teams looking for the outlaws these days.
00:06:48Jacque into the ring, he told me just a week or so ago he returned to the World Wrestling Federation with one goal of mine.
00:06:53That's to win the WWF Tag Team belts back.
00:06:56Well that cheap shot by Pierre certainly has given Jacque the advantage here.
00:07:03And there goes Animal.
00:07:05We got company coming here, a cannonball by Pierre and look who is bringing a dumpster.
00:07:14Speak of the devils.
00:07:16The WWF Tag Team Champions, the New Age Outlaws, who almost ended Cactus Jack and
00:07:22Chainsaw Charlie's career in a dumpster just like that one, have something else on their minds tonight.
00:07:28Animal whipped into the apron of the ring.
00:07:30And now Hawk has spotted the New Age Outlaws.
00:07:35And they are bringing that dumpster right down here to ringside, gentlemen.

00:07:45And now the New Age Outlaws with a two-on-one attack on Rogue Warrior.

00:17:00Remember when the Jackal descended down from the ceiling?
00:17:04In the meantime, the undefeated Steve Blackman secured a submission victory over Recon.
00:17:09And that didn't set too well with the Jackal to say the least.
00:17:14He got right into the face of Recon and a slap in the face for his embarrassment.
00:17:21As you can see, Recon did not take it too well and actually showed emotion,
00:17:26great emotion and fired up at the Jackal.
00:17:28But in the face of this potential attack, he turned his back on his man.
00:17:33And it's a defiant act showing total control of his man.
00:17:38Apparently, the Jackal is going to join us in commentary.
00:17:40Jackal, the perfect question right now is in the face of the slap,
00:17:44slap of the face that you gave Recon last week.
00:17:46Are there still some bitter feelings between you, Recon?
00:17:49Is everything patched up with you, Recon and Sniper?
00:17:51Sometimes we know that we have to discipline children, and from a mental state,

00:19:41he should have the confidence to go in there and win that match for me.

00:33:41NWA President Howard Brody of Tampa, Florida has assigned a referee, a senior NWA official,
00:33:47Tommy Young, to this match tonight just to make sure that there's none of these WWF shenanigans.
00:33:52Tommy Young is a guy who calls it straight down the middle.
00:33:55He's refereed more world tag title and NWA World Heavyweight title matches than anybody alive.
00:34:00And whether I like it and sometimes I don't or not, he calls it like he sees it.
00:34:05But you're going to find out that real wrestlers and the NWA are superior to the WWF.
00:34:10And by the way, Vince, just remember, there's more NWA stars where this came from.
00:34:15The Barbarians are at the gate, and this time things are going to turn out a whole lot different when the NWA takes on the WWF than they did in the War of 84.

00:34:26The following contest is scheduled for one fall with a 60-minute time limit, and it is for the NWA World Tag Team Championship.
00:34:36They introduce the first to make their way to the ring, being accompanied by James C. Cornett,
00:34:40at a combined weight of 461 pounds, they are the NWA World Tag Team Champions.
00:34:48Ricky and Robert, the Rock and Roll Express.
00:34:53They certainly were legends in their own time, Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson,
00:34:57the Rock and Roll Express.
00:34:59There's the much decorated NWA referee, Tommy Young.
00:35:02Ricky and Robert, five-time NWA Tag Team Champions.
00:35:05And a combined weight of 507 pounds, Mosh and Thrasher, the Headbangers.
00:35:14I think it certainly would be true that Mosh and Thrasher have always been wrestling fans.
00:35:19And when they were much younger, one of the great tag teams that they idolized over the years on the Super Station
00:35:26was Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson, the legendary Rock and Roll Express,
00:35:30who during the 80s had so many tremendous matchups and a great rivalry with the Jim Cornette managed Midnight Express.
00:35:38That's why it's so hard for me now to see Ricky and Robert and Cornette all together as allies.
00:35:45Well, is the unifying factor the NWA or is it the almighty dollar, Jim?
00:35:50I think it's always about money.
00:35:51Athletes are saying that they do things because of honor.
00:35:55Sometimes you have to question their motives if they say that it's not about money.
00:35:59It's always about money.
00:36:01It has to be.
00:36:02That's why they're pros.

00:36:06This is Thrasher now in the ring for the Headbangers.

00:36:15And JR, how important is it for the Headbangers to beat this tag team?
00:36:20Well, it's always important to win championships, but you've got a team like Thrasher Mosh,
00:36:24nice double team there, shades of the Rock and Roll Express right there as a matter of fact.
00:36:29A team like Thrasher Mosh that grew up watching Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson,
00:36:33there's a lot of pride on the line.
00:36:35Thrasher Mosh wanna say that, hey, we beat the Rock and Roll Express on national television,
00:36:41as Ricky Morton gets a little unfair advantage.
00:36:43And of course, his wideness had the referee distracted.
00:36:47Off the ropes now, Robert Gibson and the Rock and Roll Express now taking control of the matchup.
00:36:52And here comes Ricky Morton.

00:36:57One thing that can be said about NWA referee Tommy Young, he will call it right down the middle.
00:37:02And he will not favor either team despite the fact that he is wearing that NWA emblem on his shirt.
00:37:08There are a few subtle rule changes between the WWF and the NWA.
00:37:13Tommy Young, of course, one of the greatest referees in the history of this game.
00:37:18And now Ricky Morton going to one on Mosh.
00:37:21I've seen Morton Gibson in some great battles, not only with the Midnight Express, both versions,
00:37:26but also the Horseman as well.
00:37:29And don't be misled by the lack of size in your estimation of Ricky and Robert.
00:37:35Inverted atomic drop that time by Ricky Morton.
00:37:37Ricky Morton's father was a professional wrestling referee down in Memphis for many,
00:37:43many years, more than a second generation competitor in that light.
00:37:48Robert Gibson with an e-lift catching Mosh up underneath the chin.
00:37:52I don't think you've ever seen too many teams, at least in my view, in my career,
00:37:58that have the ability to operate as one.
00:38:01Great tandem moves has always been one of the hallmark signatures of Morton and Gibson.
00:38:08A bit later on this evening, we'll see the NWA's Jeff Jarrett in action,
00:38:11trying to win the European Championship from Owen Hart.
00:38:16And here comes Ricky Morton, Mosh trying to work his way out of the corner.

00:40:06The NWA rules state that throwing an opponent over
00:40:15the top rope is an automatic disqualification.
00:40:19Therefore, the winners of this match and still NWA World Tag Team Champions,
00:40:27The Rock and Roll Express.
00:40:29We mentioned there were some subtle differences between WWF and NWA rules.
00:40:33The over the top rope disqualification is one of them.
00:40:36And it haunted the headbangers, costing them the NWA Tag Team titles.
00:40:41Ricky and Robert escaped with a victory.
00:40:46Let's take a look at what happened here.
00:40:47Well, the stage dive, and it was all she wrote.
00:40:50But as you'll see, Mosh grabs Gibson and tosses him over the top rope.
