00:29Sarah Talby joins us via Zoom from Brussels in Belgium.
00:32Supermum Sarah, thank you so much for taking the time for us today, and welcome to Studio 10.
00:38Now, you were born with no upper limbs.
00:40Can you take us through how you first learned to use your feet to do everything as a child?
00:47Actually, I did it just like you did with your hands and with your arms.
00:52So it's not about learning or something I had to learn.
00:58It's really intuitive, it's really natural.
01:01I think the brain is really strong and just fulfilling the emptiness that nature gave.
01:10It's just so fascinating.
01:12Now, I read that you can do your own makeup and change your bra without arms.
01:19I mean, how do you do that? Tell us about it.
01:22I think I could just ask you the same question.
01:29How do you do it?
01:31It's really the same.
01:32It's really the same.
01:33Like the brain is fascinating because for me, it's natural.
01:38So I really don't have any tips to give.
01:44It's so intuitive, it's so natural.
01:47I just do it like any woman would do it.
01:50And as I was born this way, I think it's more natural than if I would have lost my limbs during life.
02:02Well, I tell you what's not natural is putting me in the kitchen and cooking because I am absolutely terrible at it.
02:08But your cooking seems to be fantastic.
02:11No doubt, like all of us when we're learning, you must have had some mishaps in the kitchen.
02:18Yes, but this I never show it on YouTube.
02:21Yeah, for sure.
02:24And what does your toddler Lillian think of everything?
02:29Yeah, yeah, of course.
02:30But cooking is just, I mean, I just cook to eat every day and it's not like I'm not going to open any restaurant so far.
02:42And yes, sometimes it can be a mess up, but so far so good.
02:52Have you come across anything that you just refuse to attempt or to try to do?
02:58I mean, obviously, there's dangers and everything just like all of us.
03:01But is there anything that holds you back?
03:03Yes, I have some caution for the oven.
03:10Do you say that?
03:11The oven?
03:12The oven?
03:13Yes, yes.
03:15Because I'm afraid to burn myself or to burn my feet.
03:19And yes, this is something I just take caution about it.
03:25But otherwise, no, I think I never feel any danger or something.
03:34That's great to hear.
03:35So tell us about the, I was reading also that the doctors can't really explain why you were born with no arms.
03:42What happened there?
03:43Yeah.
03:44So when I was like in my mom's belly, let's say, the fetus I was didn't develop the limbs, the upper limbs.
03:59And this, so far, don't have any explanation.
04:03Some doctors don't have any explanation.
04:06Like, we don't have explanation about a lot of disease like autism.
04:12Like, a lot of things still remain without explanation.
04:17I think nature does things and it is this way.
04:24And so far, we don't have any explanation about that.
04:27We touched on it just before there.
04:29You have a little girl, Lilia.
04:31How's Lilia?
04:32What does she think about her super mom?
04:34And how do you navigate Lilia through how you cross the road and stuff?
04:40I think Lilia doesn't think she has a super mom.
04:47And this is what it's amazing with a child.
04:51Children just think that this is normal and people have arms.
04:57Other people don't have arms.
04:59And she thinks that I just don't have arms.
05:03Like, some people are short, tall, thin, fat.
05:08It's just a detail for her.
05:11So, maybe when she will grow, she will realise that it is a disability.
05:18But so far, she just thinks that a lot of people are different
05:23and some people have arms and others don't.
05:26That's beautiful.
05:27Sarah, you've racked up over 300,000 subscribers on YouTube.
05:31Why did you start documenting your journey of motherhood?
05:34Actually, I began documenting my journey as an artist.
05:41Because I paint and I paint with my feet.
05:45So, a lot of people asked me questions like,
05:48you paint with your feet, but can you cook?
05:51Can you do that?
05:52Can you do this?
05:53Can you dress?
05:54And when I responded, people didn't believe me.
05:57So, I thought, okay, I will respond through videos and maybe people could imagine that.
06:07Because I totally understand that some things I can explain are difficult to imagine.
06:14And this is how I began.
06:17And also, with the first lockdown, a lot of people were on the internet.
06:22So, it was also a kind of activity to face the lockdown.
06:29And it's amazing.
06:31Today, I have subscribers and I still cannot believe it.
06:35Well, it is amazing.
06:36And you are amazing.
06:37And it's such an inspirational story.
06:39It's such a pleasure to get to speak to you today.
06:42You're doing such a fantastic job.
06:44Lillian must be very proud of you.
06:46Thank you so much for joining us today.
06:48We really appreciate it.
06:49Thank you.
06:50Thank you very much.
06:52Thank you.
06:53Thank you.
06:54Thank you.
