MatPat reveals who makes it onto his Mount Rushmore of YouTubers
Transcript
00:00So if I were to pitch out a Mount Rushmore of YouTube, you have to think that there's the
00:04different eras of YouTube, but you got to have like an OG. There's so many good OGs that you
00:08could pull from. You could pull Smosh, who have been so relevant for so long. You could pull like
00:12Marquez. I would say for like an OG YouTuber, I would say Jenna Marbles. She's a great representation
00:19of females on the platform. She got started in kind of that era where you stumble into it
00:24and really kind of curated what it meant to be a content creator. Smosh also gets a lot of credit.
00:29Let's give it to Jenna this time. You can't go wrong with PewDiePie. Felix was the first
00:34worldwide name when it came to YouTubing. He showed you can have a massive audience. He appealed to so
00:40many people and he was the first celebrity YouTuber, I would say. You have to do Jimmy. You have to do
00:44MrBeast because he represents kind of the modern age of YouTubing. He was the first to really publicly
00:49launch a lot of major initiatives. What does it look like when a YouTuber becomes a brand, a studio,
00:54a business? And shameless plug, but I would call us out in there. And even though what we did wasn't
01:01public in a lot of cases, behind the scenes, we were super influential. We were the first to talk
01:06about how algorithms of YouTube affect the content that you see, how you can invest in YouTubers as
01:13businesses. We were the first to talk about thumbnail optimization and things like that. And we were also
01:17the first to have an arc on your channel and to, you know, how to end your YouTube career, handing it
01:22off to a new generation. Thanks for watching.
