00:00I thought yesterday the Kansas City Chiefs would beat the Detroit Lions.
00:04I thought we would have a close game.
00:05And technically we did.
00:06Like all throughout it, it was, you know, score here, score there,
00:09big play here, big play there.
00:10But the one thing we know about the Kansas City Chiefs,
00:12it always runs, Joe, through Patrick Mahomes.
00:1422 of 30, 257, three touchdowns, no interceptions,
00:18and ran 10 more times, and one of those was for a touchdown.
00:22You want to talk about playing a clean game.
00:23It's hard to go through an NFL game and not get a penalty.
00:26Welcome to the Kansas City Chiefs.
00:27It's also hard for the Detroit Lions to have a great offensive
00:29go on the road and really be stymied at times.
00:3223 carries, 98 yards, 4.3 yards per carry,
00:35no touchdowns on the ground, even though got through two touchdowns.
00:38This is what we expect Kansas City to be.
00:40Two and three team, they were masquerading as an under 500 team.
00:43We know they're not.
00:44They're going to get healthy here, but that's a good win.
00:46Detroit's a really good football team.
00:48But I want to start, Joe, with Kansas City.
00:50Your thoughts on the Chiefs' performance last night
00:52and how that pertains to the rest of the season for them.
00:55Not shocking.
00:56You know, the Chiefs were, without a doubt,
00:59one of the best buy-low opportunities of the year so far last night.
01:05At home, coming off a short week in which they shot themselves in the foot,
01:10should have won that game, beat Jacksonville in just about every facet
01:14of that game, putting up nearly 500 yards of offense.
01:17Yeah, the idea that Kansas City is somehow, oh, they're not the team.
01:21They're every bit the team they used to be.
01:24The scary part here is they have reinforcements coming their way, too,
01:29on the offense.
01:31So, yeah, the idea that, you know, it was going to be the Chargers division,
01:36that they were going to run away, or somehow what you get from Denver and Bo Nix,
01:41what you watched yesterday, is somehow going to be good enough to beat this team
01:45come November and December?
01:47I think people are sadly mistaken.
01:49The good news is, Donnie, I think you'll still have,
01:52you'll still have some value on the Chiefs over the next week or so,
01:55but that window is closing quickly here now on the Kansas City Chiefs.
02:00Yeah, and look, they're a good football team.
02:03They're a championship pedigree team.
02:05Sometimes you just don't get off-started to a good start here,
02:07but that's a great victory against the Detroit Lions.
02:09Now, understand this, too.
02:11We talked about this ad nauseum last week, Joe.
02:13Hey, 48s.
02:14The public could not get enough of the 48s, the 49s, the 50s, the 51s,
02:19the 52s, Joe, and the 53s.
02:22Unbelievable good weather conditions, but the one thing you sort of leave out is
02:25Detroit's got a decent defense this year,
02:27even though their secondary was really injured.
02:28Kansas City on the Spagnuolo always has a good defense.
02:31Look at that vaunted offense for the Detroit Lions, Joe.
02:34They didn't even get over 300 yards in that game.
02:37That's a pretty impressive performance from the Chiefs' defense overall.
02:41Very impressive, and it was clear that Detroit's entire goal early was,
02:47we're going to try and wear down this Chiefs' defense here by doing these,
02:51you know, 10, 11, 12, 15.
02:53I mean, the opening drive was 15 plays, which, by the way,
02:56the game would have went over had they went ahead and kept the touchdown to Jared Goff there,
03:03but I don't even know what they called there, some sort of a, or didn't get set,
03:08or some ridiculousness, but they had to settle for a field goal there,
03:13but it should have been a touchdown.
03:14But that was really the end of it there, Donnie.
03:17From that point on, the Chiefs made the adjustments,
03:20and the number one offense in the NFL, right?
03:23This Detroit, oh, we're going to drop 50 on you.
03:26Yeah, they didn't drop 50 on that Chiefs' defense last night at all.
