The Block Season 21 Episode 45
Transcript
00:00:00to think that you could landscape a tall backyard in a week.
00:00:02It's landscape week, we've got lots to do.
00:00:04Big space, big space means a lot of things that need to be done,
00:00:07which means a lot of money.
00:00:08I keep just saying, any money you win is going to go into your landscape.
00:00:11Has anyone gone through the block and not won a room?
00:00:15Yep.
00:00:16We have not had a win yet.
00:00:18Thank you for pointing that out.
00:00:19We are going out with a bang.
00:00:22Even though some put plans in motion weeks ago,
00:00:25building a winning dales for the backyard hasn't been a bed of roses.
00:00:29This is meant to be a fun week.
00:00:31There's been compliance issues.
00:00:33The fireplace is not compliant.
00:00:36Concrete slab between the pool and the deck was too steep.
00:00:39This may have to be ripped up.
00:00:42This slab cost me 20 grand.
00:00:44Budget strains.
00:00:45Hold off until we work out how much we care for.
00:00:48Redone it.
00:00:50We're going to make the most idyllic, beautiful Japanese Zen garden.
00:00:53A lot of time and money.
00:00:55Neither of those we have.
00:00:56I'm not doing what everyone else is doing.
00:00:58I will do what I want to do.
00:01:00And it wouldn't be Backyard Week without a gift from the gods.
00:01:04And now it's officially landscaping week.
00:01:06Tonight.
00:01:06Step right up, step right up.
00:01:08The greatest show on earth.
00:01:10It's the final push to Backyard Reveals.
00:01:13And there's no time for clowning around.
00:01:16Do you reckon we're getting it done?
00:01:17Fine, done.
00:01:18A lot to do.
00:01:19A lot to do?
00:01:20Yeah.
00:01:21Go next door.
00:01:21That's a lot to do.
00:01:23But how will it all end?
00:01:28Joining the Ringmasters tonight is special guest and landscape guru, Dave Franklin.
00:01:33You're going to have a fantastic garden here and it's going to be hard to beat.
00:01:36But not everyone is on the bandwagon.
00:01:38I don't really like what I'm looking at.
00:01:39What is the purpose of that?
00:01:43I think this is a massive, massive error.
00:01:47It could be the only thing that turns a buyer off.
00:01:49And big secrets are revealed.
00:01:52But that's not all.
00:01:53Oh my gosh.
00:01:55Massive.
00:01:56Absolutely massive.
00:01:57Wide to our faces.
00:01:59Oh, you're going down in the last week, I tell you.
00:02:02Oh, dead.
00:02:24Too much to do, I suppose.
00:02:25It is the biggest week of them all.
00:02:32It's landscaping week.
00:02:33Yep, you heard it right.
00:02:35This week is the biggest week of them all.
00:02:37Because with each backyard measuring over a thousand square metres, it's literally the
00:02:41biggest area our blockheads have had to finish this season.
00:02:45Essentially from the back doors of the rumpus.
00:02:48Rumpus and the back bedroom.
00:02:49Back.
00:02:50So that includes pool area.
00:02:52Cold plunge and hot plunge.
00:02:53Paving around it.
00:02:54Pool cabana.
00:02:56What's it called?
00:02:57Well, we're not sure if it's a cabana or a cabana.
00:03:03Cabana.
00:03:04Cabana.
00:03:05It's definitely cabana.
00:03:06Cabana.
00:03:09In Adelaide, a cabana is a meat stick.
00:03:15And for those who know Matt.
00:03:17No.
00:03:18Everyone's got a big sausage in their backyard.
00:03:21Oh, we just call it a pool house.
00:03:24Straight to the pool house, dawg.
00:03:25Yeah.
00:03:26Pool room.
00:03:26It's very us, isn't it?
00:03:28Pool house.
00:03:29And you can bet your bottom dollar our teams have a long list of features going in their
00:03:33backyards to help stand out from the rest and win ten grand for their front yard next week.
00:03:39Look at that.
00:03:44Matt and I believe Landscaping Week is probably one of the most important weeks.
00:03:49And if you win Landscaping Week, you've got a really good crack at taking over the competition.
00:03:5324 hours to go.
00:03:58We will be using every single minute of those 24 hours.
00:04:01We've never done a pool cabana.
00:04:02We've never built a cellar.
00:04:04We've never landscaped to this scale.
00:04:07Hardest week by a country mile.
00:04:09Predominantly because of the big setback we had when we had to pull up the concrete slab.
00:04:13Ah, yes, that was a massive concrete slab that joined the feature deck stairs to the pool area.
00:04:20Ten mil over a hundred mil.
00:04:22That's like five times the limit.
00:04:23Like, it's steep.
00:04:24This may have to be ripped up.
00:04:30Yeah, the concrete skate ramp that had to be deleted really lost us about two days.
00:04:35Or probably more because by the time that we had to, like, put the new retaining wall in,
00:04:39that only happened yesterday.
00:04:40Like, putting this retaining wall in, and Colin goes,
00:04:43Get rid of this retaining wall.
00:04:45And I want to put grass.
00:04:46It comes over.
00:04:47He's not joking.
00:04:48Are you not joking?
00:04:49No.
00:04:49And I was like, are you serious?
00:04:53Like, we've just spent four days putting this in.
00:04:56I know there's a lot of work, but it's the ugliest thing I've ever seen.
00:04:59I couldn't, I didn't know what to do.
00:05:01So I was like, oh, we'll wait till Emma comes back and she can decide.
00:05:05Holy doly!
00:05:06We're trying to work out the ugliest retaining wall.
00:05:08The ugliest retaining wall?
00:05:09I've ever seen you guys build.
00:05:11What's the game plan?
00:05:12Just shovel dirt?
00:05:13We're going to make that flat for you.
00:05:15Yep.
00:05:16And then you're going to have some stairs there.
00:05:17Yep.
00:05:18And I want to put grass that comes over.
00:05:20Yep.
00:05:21It looks epic.
00:05:22Let me go find a space.
00:05:23And you just said, yeah, go for it.
00:05:24I don't really care.
00:05:26Colin's the designer, and he knows what's going to look good, so.
00:05:30We had dirt, then we had concrete, and now we have dirt again.
00:05:32Now the dirt's going over the retaining wall, so we're going to have the grass roll over it.
00:05:36Still serving its purpose, it's still retaining everything, but we've just got a thin layer
00:05:40of soil over the top, which the grass will roll over.
00:05:44So that's the retaining wall finally sorted.
00:05:47Now how about those other pressure points?
00:05:49The cellar is so far off, and pull cabana, the shell's there.
00:05:55Unfinished.
00:05:56It's got a sauna in there, it's got tiles, and that's it.
00:06:00We're pretty screwed.
00:06:02I think just the stress of trying to put a cellar in as well is really tricky.
00:06:06And we obviously want to try and do a really great job like the boys did, so we're comparing
00:06:11ourselves to them, which is hard when they get three tens.
00:06:14At the block's hardest working tilers, the Curcio's, have agreed to tile the cellar floor.
00:06:20Yeah, the Curcio brothers have come to save us.
00:06:23Save the day!
00:06:29This week, with Sonny and Alicia's permission...
00:06:31Are you painting the rocks on?
00:06:32Fantastic.
00:06:33No, you're going to be gluing the rocks on.
00:06:36Curcio times three...
00:06:38...have been spreading the love across the block, working in four of the five houses.
00:06:43Are you ready for the circus?
00:06:45Are you ready?
00:06:46They're ready to go now.
00:06:48Wine cellar needed sanding this morning, so Plasterer did that quickly.
00:06:52And then the Curcio brothers came and helped out with some tiling.
00:06:57Start at that end and work our way down.
00:06:58House one can take out this week, but they've got to finish their cellar.
00:07:02And that's the big issue we've got at the moment.
00:07:03Everything outside that wine cellar is looking amazing.
00:07:06They've got the gnome.
00:07:09Who's his hairy doing on it?
00:07:10I'm like...
00:07:11They need that wine cellar finished.
00:07:17Next door in house two...
00:07:20Han and Ken are also getting a helping hand from Han's dad, Lee.
00:07:24I'll claim these and we'll just grout it in.
00:07:26Yeah.
00:07:26They're going for a Japanese-style garden designed by their landscaper, Christian.
00:07:31But with little money in the budget and less manpower, it's anything but zen.
00:07:36There's a lot to do still, probably furthest behind.
00:07:39We need the pool fence to go in.
00:07:41We need to clean the pool, fill the pool.
00:07:43Obviously the rain yesterday didn't help.
00:07:46Tiling the cabana.
00:07:48Trying to clean the cabana, grout the cabana, paint the cabana.
00:07:51Oh, I've got to go pick up furniture.
00:07:54There's boxes all through the driveway.
00:07:55It's a lot to do.
00:07:57A real lot to do.
00:07:59Do you need a hand with your tiling?
00:08:01Han should be helping her.
00:08:03Who?
00:08:03She's painting inside.
00:08:04We need help out here.
00:08:05We'll be right, Dan.
00:08:07You sure?
00:08:07Yep.
00:08:08I've heard that before.
00:08:09Okay.
00:08:09Oh, look, this is just poor time management right now.
00:08:13This is what this is.
00:08:15I can't see them finishing today.
00:08:16I really can't.
00:08:18Priorities are not where they should be.
00:08:19We're focusing off too much in there.
00:08:22We're just going to paint it or leave it and just come out here and get out here looking good.
00:08:26There's no point in having a pool cabana if we can't get water in the pool.
00:08:28I got nothing, I got nothing, I got nothing to do.
00:08:39Pressure washer.
00:08:40Well, just, yeah, it's always a good sign when the pressure washer comes out, isn't it?
00:08:43Leave it nearing the end.
00:08:45Feeling good.
00:08:46We've managed our trades well and we're in a really good spot.
00:08:49Obviously, we have all this land, but we're so lucky because we have this huge seven and
00:08:54half ton fireplace and then an 18 by eight pickleball court.
00:08:58So that takes up a lot of real estate in our backyard.
00:09:01So winning that was a great thing.
00:09:03Now that it's all come to life, like, it's pretty emotional looking at it.
00:09:07I can't be happier, to be honest.
00:09:08I wouldn't change a thing.
00:09:09Well done, lads.
00:09:10There's the hen in the house.
00:09:11She's getting there.
00:09:12What's that?
00:09:13Who's that?
00:09:14The hell?
00:09:14Oh, it's my husband.
00:09:15Wowee.
00:09:16Hello, Chris, the plumber.
00:09:18Hello, hello.
00:09:19How are you?
00:09:20Now, that shower head is all good to go and be kicked up from Howard Street Race.
00:09:24All right, thanks, mate.
00:09:26Appreciate it.
00:09:26I'll talk to you.
00:09:29He pretty just asked me to be his boyfriend, so I'm like, whatever.
00:09:32Like, stop calling it all the time.
00:09:36Sunny and Alicia are yet to win a room, and with only two more chances up for grabs, they
00:09:40could make block history and be the first ever couple to go home without a win.
00:09:46We're on the podium.
00:09:47We're either second or third, and just can't seem to get that win.
00:09:50This week, they're going all out with a family-friendly backyard, and they're the only ones with a fully
00:09:55self-contained pool cabana.
00:09:57Are we going to finish?
00:09:59Yes, we are.
00:09:59We are going to finish.
00:10:00We always finish.
00:10:01Let it down on the 11th week.
00:10:03We're in a good spot today.
00:10:04The boys went hard yesterday.
00:10:06They planted every single one of these trees yesterday, and so to do that meant that they
00:10:10could pretty much turf today.
00:10:12How do you feel about the space?
00:10:14Do you think you're in the running?
00:10:14Oh, listen, we could be in.
00:10:17We could be out.
00:10:19We could be in with three 10s, and someone will get three 11s, so we'll come second again.
00:10:25Stone and Lisa, Stone and Lisa.
00:10:29Stone and Lisa, it's a work of art.
00:10:33Don't you know the room wasn't built in a day?
00:10:36I think for us, we've put such a high importance on landscaping.
00:10:40And from day one, we said kitchen and backyard landscaping is our number one priority.
00:10:46And it's safe to say that after weeks of planning, Britt and Taz are throwing everything they've
00:10:51got at securing a win this week.
00:10:53There was nothing else we could do.
00:10:55Because we asked, we said, what else should we do?
00:10:57How do we elevate this?
00:10:58And Troy's gone, we cannot.
00:11:00Like, we've got a creek running through the backyard.
00:11:02We've got all the amenity you need.
00:11:05You've got your spa, saunas, ice baths, fruit orchard.
00:11:08Greenhouse, chicken coop.
00:11:09A massive fireplace, all stone cladded.
00:11:12It's a statement piece of our backyard.
00:11:14We wanted, there is just the one case of the flu.
00:11:18Ah, yes, that issue with the fireplace flu.
00:11:21You've got to be 300mm above the roofline.
00:11:24We can't build the chimney out of bricks that high.
00:11:27It's just not going to be structurally stable.
00:11:29So the question is, do we get a flu made up?
00:11:33More about the flu later.
00:11:35This morning, Taz's mind is elsewhere.
00:11:37You're all very quiet today.
00:11:40Yeah, my brother's getting married today.
00:11:42So...
00:11:43You know, when you come on the show, these are like one of the many sacrifices that you make.
00:11:49So this was one of them.
00:11:51You know, you go three months without your kids, you miss birthdays, weddings, funerals, all of it for this.
00:12:01Um, you can walk away with nothing.
00:12:07We're very family first people, Britt and I, so it's a little bit flattening, but this is the biggest day for us on the block.
00:12:13This Saturday is our everything, so...
00:12:15Hey, mate, how are you?
00:12:20Hello.
00:12:21Looking good, mate.
00:12:22Looking very smart.
00:12:23Looking really good.
00:12:26Hey, Dad, how are you?
00:12:28Locked her out, man.
00:12:29Yeah, we dressed up for the occasion.
00:12:31Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:12:31I'm so ready.
00:12:32Real sharp, man, real sharp.
00:12:33Sorry we can't be there today, mate.
00:12:35You look unreal.
00:12:37I hope you have a real good day.
00:12:38We're very proud of you.
00:12:39And, yeah, I'm glad Carter and Mila can be there for us and, you know, watch you go down.
00:12:45No worries.
00:12:45Thanks very much.
00:12:46Thanks for the call.
00:12:47He loves his show.
00:12:49He loves, you know, he's a landscaper.
00:12:51So we're in landscape week, so it's only fitting, I reckon.
00:12:54No, he would have, you know, we would have loved to have him down here.
00:12:57We would have been here.
00:12:58When you win, I'll see you back here.
00:13:00Wedding present would want to be good, I'd tell you that much.
00:13:02Well, you could have your wedding here, Regan.
00:13:05Yes, beautiful.
00:13:07Yeah, it looks really good.
00:13:08You're doing really well.
00:13:09Thanks, mate.
00:13:10All right.
00:13:10Proud of you, mate.
00:13:11Take care, all right?
00:13:12Speak to you.
00:13:12See you later.
00:13:13See you, Chris.
00:13:13Bye.
00:13:15I'm just so proud of him.
00:13:17You know, the family he's created and we just, we wish you could be a part of it because
00:13:22it's so important to us family.
00:13:23But, yeah, we know, we know how important it is to be here and I'm just glad our kids are
00:13:30there for us as well.
00:13:35Got me crying.
00:13:37You just, yeah, you wish you could be there but, no, we're here for a reason.
00:13:44It's, yeah, it's hot.
00:13:45It's Saturday afternoon and all our blockheads are busy racing to complete their backyards
00:14:07by 9am tomorrow morning.
00:14:13Well, most of them.
00:14:14This is a life.
00:14:23Today and today only.
00:14:25Folks, step right up, step right up.
00:14:27The greatest show on earth.
00:14:29Yeah, the Curzios are here.
00:14:35The Circus is in town.
00:14:38A bit stressed out that we hadn't ordered enough files.
00:14:41Yeah.
00:14:41It turns out we'd ordered one too many.
00:14:43Lucky we didn't make a mistake.
00:14:45Oh, no, very lucky.
00:14:46We couldn't make any errors.
00:14:48Lucky we had the best boys in the biz on it.
00:14:50Normally, a Saturday comes around and we are styling by afternoon, night time.
00:15:02Not this week?
00:15:03No.
00:15:04No.
00:15:04It was dire.
00:15:06Benji's going to plug along with the salad and I'm going to focus on the pork cabana.
00:15:09I think I'd given up on the salad.
00:15:11Yeah.
00:15:12What do you reckon?
00:15:13Do you reckon we're going to get it done?
00:15:15It's a fine done.
00:15:19In House 3, the High Pages stonemasons, with the help of the Curzios, have performed a
00:15:24block miracle and have finished recladding Britt and Taz's Statement fireplace in record
00:15:29time.
00:15:30I believe in miracles.
00:15:32It looks amazing.
00:15:33And they're making good progress in their cabana.
00:15:36Wow.
00:15:36Getting there.
00:15:38Look at that.
00:15:39It's beautiful.
00:15:39It was commissioned for us by a local udders.
00:15:42No.
00:15:42We have a beautiful custom Graphico from a local Jar Jar artist.
00:15:47So that's going to be the hero of the room.
00:15:50We're also doing the Home Pro installation of curtains on the ceiling like we've done in
00:15:54the wellness room.
00:15:55Just to keep that flow, keep that continuity.
00:15:57This is where you tie everything together, isn't it?
00:15:59Yeah.
00:15:59With your wellness area and that room that you wouldn't budge on.
00:16:02You have one living space and that's it.
00:16:05And it will impact them on the market.
00:16:09We love it.
00:16:10We love the room.
00:16:11We don't want to change it.
00:16:12We don't want to change it.
00:16:13We knew the vision of what that whole space is going to be.
00:16:16The reformer room, the ice bath, the hot tub, the sauna.
00:16:20You've got other sitting areas.
00:16:21You're going to have the pool cabana.
00:16:23I mean, for us, we're the wellness house.
00:16:25So it's now starting to make sense.
00:16:27Why the long face?
00:16:28A lot to do.
00:16:30A lot to do?
00:16:30Yeah.
00:16:31Go next door.
00:16:32That's a lot to do.
00:16:33Who's there?
00:16:34That's a lot to do.
00:16:38You're in a really good spot.
00:16:40You're stressing about the floor.
00:16:42The chimney needs to be a certain height relevant to the distance to the house.
00:16:51As the chimney is very close to the house, it needs to be built up past the height of the roof for it to be compliant.
00:16:58But bricks that high are a structural issue.
00:17:01So Britt and Taz need to add a steel cylinder flue to reach regulation height.
00:17:06We've got to put a scat up.
00:17:08And then put a flue in.
00:17:09And then put the scat down.
00:17:10That's tomorrow morning.
00:17:11That's tomorrow's job.
00:17:12Only installation time they have is 7am on Sunday.
00:17:16Pushing it.
00:17:18Oh, yeah.
00:17:19Just want to be in the race.
00:17:20You're in the race.
00:17:21Yeah.
00:17:21I can tell you right now.
00:17:23You're in it.
00:17:24Thanks, Dan.
00:17:30I've just wished, I've wished since the beginning, I've wished for a Saturday
00:17:35where we were just like polishing and priming and styling.
00:17:41We were just a day ahead.
00:17:44Everything was done.
00:17:45I'm yet to have that day on the block.
00:17:49Pull 13 up.
00:17:50Pull tiles, not complete.
00:17:53The cabana's not anywhere near complete.
00:17:56Tiles still need to be done.
00:17:57No paint on.
00:17:58Like, I'm just, no.
00:18:00How's your day going, Matt?
00:18:06Yeah.
00:18:07Well, it's been a lovely day, to be honest.
00:18:09Now I have a night making furniture.
00:18:11Hardcore landscaping is completely done, which is a huge plus.
00:18:15But there's still this other factor of making that landscaping look good by styling.
00:18:19How the f*** does this even work?
00:18:22I was putting together flat pack furniture, and House 3's landscaper came in through our
00:18:29back door, and he goes,
00:18:31Hey, mate.
00:18:32Hello.
00:18:32How you going?
00:18:33Good.
00:18:34Now, Paul knows I'm coming to have a look.
00:18:35Okay.
00:18:36I'd prefer if you didn't, though.
00:18:37Oh, it's okay.
00:18:38I'm mates with Paul, who's our landscaper.
00:18:40And I said, no, thank you.
00:18:42That is a snake move.
00:18:46Not having a...
00:18:47He can come through and have a look after judging, but Taz and Britt are our biggest competition.
00:18:53We had the fire going, we were doing all the styling.
00:18:56If he comes out there and goes, they've got their fire lit, they're going to be doing this,
00:19:00they've got this on their table, you know, they could see what we're doing, they could
00:19:04get an upper hand.
00:19:05So I said, sorry, mate, back to House 3.
00:19:08He's the boss, it's his house, you can see who's allowed in and who's allowed out.
00:19:12So I said, no worries, turned around and came back.
00:19:15He wasn't thrilled with it.
00:19:16I could tell by the look on his face, but, you know, I'd rather, I'd rather win.
00:19:21Hmm.
00:19:21So then we found a trampoline.
00:19:28There's no one in there.
00:19:31Looks good.
00:19:32Yeah, looks okay.
00:19:33You know what, he looked at our backyard, so let's go look at theirs.
00:19:36Lots of arbors, they look like match suits.
00:19:39After seeing that, he thought, it's a perfect opportunity to play hide and seek.
00:19:44I wouldn't call it hide and seek, I'd call it peekaboo.
00:19:46What can you see, mate?
00:19:49A Japanese garden.
00:19:51A Japanese arbor.
00:19:53We'll just have a little look every time.
00:19:56I can see bricks.
00:19:58A brick thing.
00:19:58See a pool.
00:20:00And there's Ben.
00:20:01Hey, Ben.
00:20:03We didn't get to see too much, to be honest.
00:20:06Everyone's got a beautiful yard.
00:20:09We're going to be biased and say ours is the most beautiful and ours is the best.
00:20:12Yeah.
00:20:13She's bloody looking good.
00:20:15Afternoon delight.
00:20:17Skyrocketing flight.
00:20:20Afternoon delight.
00:20:25Afternoon delight.
00:20:26How are you feeling, mate?
00:20:35Yeah, I just feel like it's just slipping away a little bit, actually.
00:20:39Yeah.
00:20:40What do you do?
00:20:41It's a beautiful garden.
00:20:43Absolutely.
00:20:44Yeah, it's a beautiful garden.
00:20:45We're proud of it, but we'll just give it our best shot.
00:20:51You might love the garden, but is it going to get done?
00:20:54I don't know.
00:20:56I love a flat pack.
00:21:13Everyone knows lesbians love a flat pack.
00:21:18Read up on it.
00:21:19I didn't know about it, and I'm a lesbian, so I don't know how that works out.
00:21:24Oh.
00:21:24You mustn't be a real lesbian.
00:21:26Do you believe in block magic?
00:21:34Block magic.
00:21:35Yeah.
00:21:36It's a miracle.
00:21:41Inspiring because everyone was just keen to see it finished.
00:21:44What a team, huh?
00:21:45Oh, yeah.
00:21:46You guys have honestly saved us.
00:21:49That's what you knew.
00:21:50That's what you realised.
00:21:51Everyone had bought in.
00:21:52Everyone had bought into the dream of actually finishing this, and it required us both to
00:21:59believe it for everyone else to as well.
00:22:02Yeah.
00:22:03I reckon you've got a chance to get three tens.
00:22:05Pretty epic, isn't it?
00:22:06The only thing I think you're missing is some dry prosciutto up here.
00:22:10If you had some dry prosciutto, I reckon you'd get a ten.
00:22:12Any prosciutto shops open at this hour?
00:22:14I'm not sure, but if you don't get your hands on it, it definitely won't be a ten.
00:22:17Good morning, Leigh.
00:22:31Oh, good morning.
00:22:41Oh, look at it going.
00:22:42Phenomenal.
00:22:45We have to just get everything all sorted and be pretty.
00:22:49And I like being sorted and pretty.
00:22:51It's all about selling the dream.
00:22:57We're trying to sell the dream, so we need to put the flue in the fireplace.
00:23:03We really want, really, really want to sell that fire.
00:23:06It's a beautiful backyard.
00:23:07We couldn't, like, there's nothing we'd change about it.
00:23:09We're just going to do all the little extras now, clean style.
00:23:12Get that bloody flute on, and then we're laughing.
00:23:15Get the what on?
00:23:17The flute.
00:23:23Would you look at that!
00:23:26Considering what that wine cellar was only 12 hours ago...
00:23:32...you just wouldn't think it's possible.
00:23:35Girl on a mission.
00:23:36I'm walking on sunshine.
00:23:38Jeez.
00:23:395,000 steps this morning alone.
00:23:43Love it.
00:23:44Love it a million.
00:23:45I love this backyard.
00:23:47I actually, like, I love this backyard.
00:23:50You can imagine having a big party on there, too.
00:23:52Say, whoever buys it, we're coming to Christmas.
00:23:58It's not a catwalk.
00:23:59Yeah, I think it's safe to say that we're going to win this week.
00:24:18How are you, Christian?
00:24:19Me?
00:24:20Yeah.
00:24:21Pfft.
00:24:22Couldn't be better.
00:24:23Pfft.
00:24:23Ha-ha.
00:24:24Pfft.
00:24:29To the beach.
00:24:30To the beach.
00:24:31To the beach.
00:24:31Yeah.
00:24:32Dad.
00:24:34To the beach.
00:24:35To the beach.
00:24:36To the beach.
00:24:37To the beach.
00:24:38To the beach.
00:24:39To the beach.
00:24:39To the beach.
00:24:40One minute, Lee.
00:24:42Hallelujah.
00:24:43Dad, light the fire.
00:24:44To the beach.
00:24:45Hello.
00:24:48Come on.
00:24:4920 seconds to go.
00:24:50Quick.
00:24:50Fast.
00:24:51Fast.
00:24:52Tenzin.
00:24:54God!
00:24:56Tools down!
00:25:00Tools down.
00:25:02Well done.
00:25:06Yay!
00:25:08Yes it is.
00:25:10That's the biggest make of our lives.
00:25:12Team hug. You guessed it.
00:25:14Well done, Jill.
00:25:16Well done, Dad.
00:25:18That's David. Oh, you did it!
00:25:20Is it cold?
00:25:22Yes!
00:25:24Oh, it's crazy!
00:25:26Woo!
00:25:28Will we be seeing the secret gnome tonight?
00:25:32The secret gnome's gonna be dropped tonight.
00:25:34Ho, ho, ho, ho!
00:25:40Good morning, everybody!
00:25:42Morning!
00:25:44Morning!
00:25:46Another beautiful morning
00:25:48Darls.
00:25:50It's a perfect day for a room reveal.
00:25:52Now, I suppose you're wondering why I brought Darren here this morning.
00:25:54Well, I cannot drive two cars at the same time.
00:25:58And I'm also thinking that you're asking,
00:26:00what is this?
00:26:02Wow.
00:26:04Well, this is the brand new MGU9.
00:26:08It's their very own ute.
00:26:10It is a 2.5 litre turbo diesel.
00:26:12It's got 3.5 tonne towing capacity.
00:26:16It's their very first shoot.
00:26:18And it's an absolute ripper.
00:26:20Oh, it's nice.
00:26:21Darren, of course, is driving the latest version of the Super Hybrid that you've been driving these past couple of weeks.
00:26:28And guess what?
00:26:29What?
00:26:30You could win both these cars next week.
00:26:34Oh, my goodness.
00:26:36That is correct.
00:26:38The winner of Front Yard and Front Facade week will win both these cars.
00:26:42The ute going straight in your driveway to sell with your homes.
00:26:46And the Super Hybrid ready for you to jump in and drive all the way home to keep for yourselves.
00:26:52Two MGs.
00:26:54My gosh.
00:26:55Massive.
00:26:56Absolutely massive.
00:26:57Oh, my gosh.
00:26:58Do I want these cars?
00:27:00That's incredible.
00:27:01So your final week just got real.
00:27:05Wow.
00:27:06Absolutely it did.
00:27:07Now, for you guys, it's tools down right now.
00:27:10But for these guys and the judges, it's tools up.
00:27:16Funky.
00:27:17Hello.
00:27:18Hey, Sky.
00:27:19Funky.
00:27:20Funky.
00:27:21Funky.
00:27:22Wow.
00:27:23Hello, Sky.
00:27:24Very spectacular.
00:27:25Everybody.
00:27:26Woo-hoo.
00:27:27Funky.
00:27:28Hello.
00:27:29Hey, Sky.
00:27:30Funky.
00:27:31Wow.
00:27:32Hello, Sky.
00:27:33Very spectacular.
00:27:34Everybody.
00:27:35Woo-hoo.
00:27:36Oh, mate.
00:27:37What about the lavender soups?
00:27:38You're welcome.
00:27:39Good evening, everybody.
00:27:40Hello, Sky.
00:27:41Hello, Sky.
00:27:42Well, that was epic, wasn't it?
00:27:43You've got to love Backyard Week.
00:27:45Absolutely outstanding.
00:27:46Well done, everybody.
00:27:47Round of applause.
00:27:48Let's head to some feedback and find out who's going to take the back.
00:27:50Wow.
00:27:51Funky.
00:27:52Funky.
00:27:53Funky.
00:27:54Wow.
00:27:55Funky.
00:27:56Funky.
00:27:57Funky.
00:27:58Funky.
00:27:59Funky.
00:28:00Funky.
00:28:01Funky.
00:28:02Funky.
00:28:03Funky.
00:28:04Funky.
00:28:05Funky.
00:28:06Funky.
00:28:07Funky.
00:28:08Funky.
00:28:09Funky.
00:28:10Funky.
00:28:11Funky.
00:28:12Funky.
00:28:13Head to some feedback and find out who's going to take home the last $10,000
00:28:17from Mg.
00:28:19Em Ben.
00:28:22Week 11 was probably our worst week on the block.
00:28:28Worst, as in?
00:28:30Most challenging.
00:28:31Yeah.
00:28:32It was just really, really hard.
00:28:33It was full-on.
00:28:36We are the winner!
00:28:37We win Pokemon!
00:28:39We've won us sauna.
00:28:40You won us sauna!
00:28:42I did .
00:28:43Boy, we've got a wine cellar.
00:28:49Just the scale of this week's room reveal is ginormous.
00:28:54The plan is we've got to do this whole backyard.
00:28:58Just doing an added little bonus room of a cellar.
00:29:00We've got a pretty incredible design that's been created by our landscape.
00:29:04Hi, I'm Em.
00:29:05Hi, I'm Colin.
00:29:06Colin really wanted to incorporate the borrowed landscape.
00:29:10Just, what was it? The rolling hills of Dalesford.
00:29:12Yeah, and the other thing will probably be the tree selection.
00:29:15We're replanting Dalesford.
00:29:19Oh, it looks like we're going to have to lose all this paving.
00:29:22What?
00:29:23The bit between the deck and the pool is too steep.
00:29:27So we have to get rid of all that concrete.
00:29:34Tuscan path pavers that we have here,
00:29:37probably going to suit the style that you're looking for.
00:29:39Kind of like how organic looking these ones are.
00:29:41So, I will take 50, please.
00:29:45The retaining wall's taken a lot longer than we'd hoped.
00:29:49Put the posts in so that sleepers could go in the next day.
00:29:54Colin said to me,
00:29:56I really want to get rid of this retaining wall.
00:29:58Are you serious?
00:29:59Like, we've just spent four days putting this in.
00:30:01I think if you'd asked us at the start of the week how this space is going to look,
00:30:06the answer would be completely different to how the space looks right now.
00:30:11It's all for the better.
00:30:12Like, how this is all shaping up looks incredible,
00:30:15and I mean, I'm so happy with it.
00:30:17Yeah, I think the end outcome looks great.
00:30:20Because you were missing
00:30:24We did amazing things
00:30:31And I've been changing
00:30:34Because we were missing
00:30:38Oh, look at this magnificent.
00:30:44That's great.
00:30:51Well, hang on.
00:30:52We now have Dave Franklin with us,
00:30:55the expert on the landscaping.
00:30:57You can tell us what the plants are and not Marty.
00:30:59Oh, come on.
00:31:01Everything's a fire to steal the eye.
00:31:05Dave Franklin told the others about your landscape designer,
00:31:09the artist Colin Hyatt.
00:31:11Yeah.
00:31:11He's not just a landscape designer,
00:31:13he's actually an artist, okay?
00:31:15So when he's designing this here,
00:31:17it's picking up the colours from the cedar trees,
00:31:19which you see over to the left here.
00:31:21But where we're standing here
00:31:22is basically designed as an amphitheatre
00:31:24to look out at Daleswood.
00:31:26Oh, but this is a grandstand for family memories
00:31:29and portraits and photos.
00:31:30And Shana, I can imagine you standing on the deck
00:31:32and singing and...
00:31:34Stop me.
00:31:35Just stop me.
00:31:36I am about to.
00:31:39Darren, love the undulating form
00:31:41of the landscape throughout
00:31:43and the Tuscan path stepping stones.
00:31:47Obviously, this is what Colin's done.
00:31:49So he's obviously mimicking what Daleswood's about
00:31:51and that's the role in Hills
00:31:52and that's what you're seeing in the landscape through here.
00:31:54Yes.
00:31:55Is that what he said to you?
00:31:56Yeah, that was the brief.
00:31:57Borrowed landscape was the term to use.
00:31:59Basically, 80% is native here.
00:32:02Very sustainable as well.
00:32:03We've got some beautiful sheake pines up the back there
00:32:06and they are already two and a half, three metres tall.
00:32:08I'm expecting at least another half a metre
00:32:10by the time it comes auction time.
00:32:12You know what?
00:32:12You're going to have a fantastic garden here
00:32:14and it's going to be hard to beat.
00:32:17Shana then spotted a fruit orchard.
00:32:18They headed over
00:32:19and they think the fire pit is well placed.
00:32:22How great is this for a little sitting spot,
00:32:24get the marshmallows out?
00:32:25Beautiful because you can see the pool,
00:32:27you can see the deck,
00:32:28you can see everything around here.
00:32:30I think this position is beautiful.
00:32:32Yeah.
00:32:33And it's great to have a citrus garden for sustainability,
00:32:37not to mention the ready availability of delicious fruit.
00:32:41Talking of sustainability,
00:32:43the runoff from the gutters runs into that Kingspan tank
00:32:46and then that feeds the irrigation.
00:32:48Boom.
00:32:49Done.
00:32:50Thinking of your domain listing,
00:32:52Marty thinks there's a great hero shot
00:32:54looking back at the house
00:32:56which takes in the pool and the cabana.
00:32:59That is the hero shot
00:33:01showing such a unique house on this season.
00:33:04I think this is going to be one of the hardest houses to beat
00:33:07in terms of how relative it is to the natural environment.
00:33:11This here just screams Daleswood
00:33:14because you can see it in the foreground.
00:33:17And around the pool,
00:33:17Dave Franklin thinks the brown Little Hampton brick
00:33:20is a great choice.
00:33:22Works in perfectly with the mulch,
00:33:23works perfectly with the landscape, you know,
00:33:25so I think it's a winner.
00:33:27Into the cellar.
00:33:28No way.
00:33:40Wow.
00:33:41Geez, isn't this strategic from Emma and Ben?
00:33:46They've got a full wine cellar.
00:33:49Darren thinks the PGH stone is stunning.
00:33:52It's that natural environment, colour palette,
00:33:56materials palette
00:33:56relates to the outside,
00:33:58relates to the landscape
00:33:59and it just feels really right for Daleswood.
00:34:03Well, this is their answer.
00:34:04We're in a real estate competition.
00:34:06This is adding value to the buyers.
00:34:09And after seeing House 5's cellar,
00:34:11this is the perfect chess move.
00:34:16Checkmate is what you're hoping for, I'll bet.
00:34:18Yeah.
00:34:20These guys are damn good players.
00:34:23They're back in the game.
00:34:24There are five great houses,
00:34:29two with very substantial wine cellars.
00:34:32And this one feels like you're at a cellar door.
00:34:37That is a million dollar view.
00:34:39I was going to say,
00:34:40this is blowing my mind.
00:34:41It's something that I should be designing
00:34:43into my landscapes from now on.
00:34:44I think this is just a massive tick.
00:34:51Shona agrees.
00:34:53The whole space is beautifully presented.
00:34:55And it wasn't even close when she visited on Friday.
00:34:59No.
00:34:59It was very far.
00:35:00Look what they've done and styled to perfection
00:35:05that they've even decanted the wine.
00:35:07And can I just say also,
00:35:09Emma is 18 weeks pregnant.
00:35:12It's incredible.
00:35:14It really is.
00:35:15Power to the women.
00:35:16Yes, mate.
00:35:17Totally.
00:35:19Finally to the cabana,
00:35:20Darren noted the solar panels on the roof.
00:35:23The solar panels as the roof.
00:35:25Jeez, that's smart.
00:35:26That is so great.
00:35:27I love the form, too.
00:35:29And the fact that that's printed.
00:35:31It's beautiful.
00:35:33Inside, they found some smart thinking.
00:35:36Jeez, that's smart building in
00:35:38the steam saunas Australia.
00:35:40You get access to the view.
00:35:43Wow, that's amazing.
00:35:44Who would have thought?
00:35:45Wow.
00:35:46Ben and Emma were going to put a couch in here
00:35:48and we were saying,
00:35:49you're coming from the sauna, the pool,
00:35:51just a bench.
00:35:52Smart.
00:35:53And I thought this was tiles
00:35:54and that's just not stuck down wallpaper.
00:35:57Yeah.
00:36:00Darren thinks the basin is heaven.
00:36:03Shona added,
00:36:04the whole space is heaven.
00:36:07I love that.
00:36:08I just love how luxury it feels
00:36:10and there's so many layers of luxury here.
00:36:14That is what will capture the buyers
00:36:16and when they see this online,
00:36:18this will jump through the screen.
00:36:20This is prime location.
00:36:22It's easy to live in.
00:36:24It's easy to entertain in
00:36:25and it's easy on the eye
00:36:27because it's so beautiful.
00:36:28Why would you ever leave?
00:36:29It's lifestyle.
00:36:30It was incredible.
00:36:30Okay, we need to leave
00:36:31because we've got four more of these.
00:36:33Wow.
00:36:34What a start.
00:36:35Well done, Emma Ben.
00:36:37How fun.
00:36:38How are you?
00:36:41That's great.
00:36:42It's time for you to decide
00:36:52which contestants you think
00:36:53have created this week's winning outdoor space.
00:36:56Just head to the Block website now
00:36:58to cast your vote
00:36:59and don't miss the results
00:37:01a little later in the show.
00:37:06Okay, house two,
00:37:08Han and Kang.
00:37:08This week was just joyous.
00:37:17Joy, flow, zen.
00:37:20You are so full of ****.
00:37:25Before we even came to the Block,
00:37:27we decided we were going to do
00:37:28a Japanese-inspired garden
00:37:30with Christian Jenkins.
00:37:31Keep calm and drink tea.
00:37:33He's an absolute legend
00:37:35at doing very Japanese zen gardens.
00:37:39The rocks are pretty cool.
00:37:41You know how I got those rocks
00:37:42delivered next door?
00:37:44Yeah.
00:37:45And I still had a few
00:37:46to get around here.
00:37:47Yeah, you still had like four or five.
00:37:49He used them in the garden.
00:37:52Our point of difference
00:37:53to the landscape is these rocks.
00:37:55Okay.
00:37:55And now they're in your landscape.
00:37:56Thing is, we were lovely enough
00:37:58to be able to store your rocks
00:38:00for you guys.
00:38:00Yeah.
00:38:01The deal was we would have the rocks
00:38:02there till the end of that day.
00:38:03Yeah, that's right.
00:38:04And they're actually still there.
00:38:05So I think, if anything,
00:38:06we've been doing you guys a favour.
00:38:09We disagree to disagree
00:38:10and we get on with it.
00:38:13We spent our full $15,000
00:38:16in Freedom Furniture.
00:38:18And then in our pool cabana,
00:38:20I want to do like a curved lounge.
00:38:22See, I love this side table too.
00:38:23And then the little...
00:38:24So we need some like sun lounges.
00:38:26How many of those can we order?
00:38:28One, two, three, four, five.
00:38:32We're on a tight budget here.
00:38:35They're not cashed up.
00:38:37You know, we're competing
00:38:38in this landscape week
00:38:40in a kind of handicap race.
00:38:45So Dad and I were both rendering
00:38:46inside the cabana.
00:38:48That's your dad.
00:38:49Yeah.
00:38:49We didn't want the ripple effect inside.
00:38:52I like it.
00:38:53How are you feeling
00:38:57about the backyard?
00:38:58Yeah, are they anxious?
00:38:59We need to get the pool fencing in.
00:39:01But we need these outer tiles down.
00:39:03ASAP.
00:39:04Tan.
00:39:06Hasn't dried at all.
00:39:08The pool fencing guy
00:39:09is standing around
00:39:10scratching his head going,
00:39:12they're not going to be ready.
00:39:15People on the other side.
00:39:16Beautiful.
00:39:16The amazing Tori gates
00:39:18went up this morning.
00:39:19Look at that.
00:39:20Tori gates are used in Japan
00:39:22as an entry to a sacred place
00:39:25or a spiritual place.
00:39:26And they look absolutely stunning.
00:39:28I'm super proud of the fireplace
00:39:31that our high pages Liverpool got us.
00:39:34It looks spectacular.
00:39:36Freaking amazing.
00:39:37We'd just love to have another week
00:39:44to, like, really finesse it,
00:39:46add some elements,
00:39:47like, go the full gung-ho on it.
00:39:50But it is what it is.
00:39:51Tools down.
00:39:52We're about to get judged for it.
00:39:54So let's see what the judges say.
00:39:59God, I love a Japanese maple.
00:40:02Yeah, I like a Japanese maple,
00:40:03but I don't really like
00:40:04what I'm looking at.
00:40:07Oh, what, that quickly?
00:40:09Yeah, that quickly.
00:40:10From what we've just come from,
00:40:12I'm sorry, but I just...
00:40:14He said this has a harsher feeling.
00:40:18It has a lot of rock.
00:40:20It's got a lot of pavers.
00:40:21This is really hard for kids to run around.
00:40:24They can trip.
00:40:24They can hit themselves.
00:40:26So it just has that harsher feel.
00:40:28And the buyers will feel that
00:40:29walking out onto this.
00:40:33Well, I do got to say,
00:40:34so this is a landscaper
00:40:35that I do know as well.
00:40:36He's Christian Jenkins.
00:40:38He's always got a bit
00:40:39of a Japanese inspiration with him.
00:40:41I get what you say.
00:40:42It's harsh,
00:40:43but you're looking at all the creepers
00:40:44through here,
00:40:44which is Dichondra.
00:40:45Okay, so this will grow out
00:40:47before the auction.
00:40:49I did actually see Christian this morning.
00:40:51I said maybe just a little bit
00:40:53undercooked with some of the finishes.
00:40:54You know, that's why you can see
00:40:55that there's no water in the pool.
00:40:57And the guys from Protect to Trade
00:40:58were still doing the pool fencing
00:41:00at 8am.
00:41:02You guys really did come down
00:41:04to the wire, didn't you?
00:41:04We did.
00:41:05Yeah, we cut it fine this week,
00:41:06for sure.
00:41:08I really like the stone.
00:41:10I love how organic
00:41:11and natural edge it is.
00:41:14And in the long term,
00:41:15that Dichondra,
00:41:16once it grows all through,
00:41:18and it will cover
00:41:19every single bit
00:41:20between all of this,
00:41:21like grout,
00:41:22in time,
00:41:23that's going to be
00:41:24really, really elegant.
00:41:25I think it's great.
00:41:27I do hear what you're saying
00:41:28about kids
00:41:30and running around
00:41:31and grass,
00:41:32but it's over there.
00:41:36Lots of lawn
00:41:37for kids to play.
00:41:39Shona agrees.
00:41:40She also really liked
00:41:42the use of boulders throughout.
00:41:43I love the boulders,
00:41:45the use of boulders
00:41:46and all the plants
00:41:47that are around it.
00:41:48There'll be a lot of softness
00:41:50and it becomes
00:41:51very ornamental.
00:41:52And a lot of people
00:41:54do gravitate to that.
00:41:55Marty agreed on this.
00:41:57The boulders are a hero.
00:41:59And the outdoor fireplace,
00:42:01Dave said,
00:42:01that is so cool.
00:42:03I've got to say,
00:42:04I have not seen
00:42:05an outdoor fireplace
00:42:06that not is only circular,
00:42:07but you've got your circular
00:42:08seating around it as well.
00:42:10Yeah.
00:42:10This is a really good
00:42:11selling feature
00:42:12and can have nailed
00:42:13this from a real estate
00:42:15perspective
00:42:15because buyers will,
00:42:16just like us right now,
00:42:18naturally will just
00:42:18congregate here.
00:42:19Yeah.
00:42:20This is such a great place
00:42:21to just sit
00:42:22and look back
00:42:22at the property,
00:42:23enjoy the sun.
00:42:24Yeah.
00:42:25It feels so intimate too.
00:42:27As Shona pointed out,
00:42:28the modular walls
00:42:29are providing
00:42:30not only visual privacy,
00:42:32but acoustic privacy
00:42:33as well.
00:42:35What are the plants
00:42:35against the modular wall there?
00:42:37It's a lily pilli.
00:42:38That's water.
00:42:38How's it?
00:42:39They'll be a big hedge.
00:42:40You can see it all the way
00:42:41around here.
00:42:41So they are fast growing as well.
00:42:43Will they get to like
00:42:43three, four metres in height?
00:42:45100%.
00:42:45Amazing.
00:42:46100%.
00:42:46Yeah.
00:42:46And I think that will then
00:42:47take away a lot of that
00:42:49harshness that I've felt
00:42:50walking out.
00:42:52Marty also thought
00:42:53the deck around the pool
00:42:54is very appealing.
00:42:55I mean,
00:42:56it definitely has
00:42:57that more rustic feel,
00:42:58doesn't it?
00:42:59Well,
00:43:00okay,
00:43:00I absolutely love the deck
00:43:02and I love
00:43:04the rawness of the edge.
00:43:05I just wish
00:43:06they didn't put
00:43:07these feature tiles in here.
00:43:09Yeah.
00:43:09If that was just
00:43:10plain,
00:43:11this is the hero.
00:43:13Yes.
00:43:14This is beautiful.
00:43:16That fourth material
00:43:17is a little bit
00:43:19too much.
00:43:19Well, it looks like
00:43:20the checkerboard in the garage.
00:43:21It does.
00:43:22It's not needed.
00:43:22Yeah.
00:43:24Marty thought you had
00:43:25great furniture
00:43:26around the pool.
00:43:28Was that all from
00:43:28Freedom Girls?
00:43:29It was.
00:43:29It was a big
00:43:30Freedom advert this week.
00:43:31One thing that we
00:43:32haven't noticed
00:43:33are these arbors
00:43:34over here, okay?
00:43:35So that's where
00:43:36that Japanese influence
00:43:37comes from.
00:43:38So there is a story
00:43:39about these arbors here.
00:43:41So obviously Scotty's
00:43:42got a sawmill.
00:43:43He milled up the timber
00:43:44and brought it to Christian
00:43:45and Christian built it
00:43:46right on site.
00:43:47Oh, it's beautiful.
00:43:48It's stunning.
00:43:50Into the cabana
00:43:51and Marty was perplexed
00:43:52with the layout internally.
00:43:54There's a couch
00:43:54on one side
00:43:55that doesn't really
00:43:56look at anything
00:43:57including the TV.
00:44:00Why have
00:44:01a TV in here
00:44:04that can't really
00:44:05be utilised
00:44:06from the pool
00:44:07because of the way
00:44:08that the doors are
00:44:09doesn't fit
00:44:09what this is
00:44:10meant to be used for.
00:44:11Like, this just
00:44:12is the wrong application.
00:44:14I think this is
00:44:15a massive, massive error.
00:44:17Yeah.
00:44:17I mean, the girls
00:44:18would have been better
00:44:19off just painting
00:44:20the contour
00:44:20of what was already there.
00:44:22Put a couple yoga mats
00:44:23if they had no money
00:44:23at the time.
00:44:24Yeah, that would have
00:44:24been a bit better.
00:44:24Just a couple yoga mats
00:44:25and a couple of towels
00:44:26on hooks.
00:44:26That's all they needed.
00:44:27It would have been better.
00:44:29Marty really wanted
00:44:30to walk under
00:44:31one of the harbours.
00:44:33When the judges
00:44:33got there,
00:44:34they all decided
00:44:35this was their favourite
00:44:36part of the garden.
00:44:37This is beautiful.
00:44:40This is tranquil.
00:44:41It's gorgeous.
00:44:42And you can imagine
00:44:43all the kids
00:44:44running around.
00:44:45Running around here.
00:44:46I was just going to say that.
00:44:47How beautiful is this?
00:44:47So, you can picture
00:44:48the kids running around here.
00:44:50Race you to the next house.
00:44:55Mixed feedback there, girls,
00:44:56but plenty of positives today
00:44:58from all of the judges.
00:44:59That is it.
00:45:02You're done.
00:45:03You're done.
00:45:11Okay, three.
00:45:13Britt and Taz.
00:45:14Mm-hmm.
00:45:14Deep breath.
00:45:20This week was what?
00:45:21A seafood sandwich
00:45:23from the survey.
00:45:24No.
00:45:26What?
00:45:26Because you'll have a crack at it,
00:45:28but you do not know
00:45:28how it's going to end.
00:45:31Landscaping will probably
00:45:32win you the block this year.
00:45:33How you doing?
00:45:34Good, thanks to yourself.
00:45:35Nice to meet you.
00:45:35We secured Troy Lovett.
00:45:38Lovett landscaping.
00:45:39The plan is to have
00:45:43beautiful timber arbors
00:45:45from trees that have
00:45:46fallen down in the area.
00:45:48Now we've got the timber,
00:45:49it's about cutting it up.
00:45:51I'm a lumberjack and I'm okay.
00:45:53I'll sleep all night
00:45:54and I'll work all day.
00:45:55Sorry, sorry.
00:45:55I'm not.
00:45:55My God, it just felt
00:45:57like out of a movie.
00:45:58Yeah, it was a bit romantic
00:45:59actually, me and Scotty Camden,
00:46:00wasn't it?
00:46:02So, we started landscaping
00:46:03three weeks ago.
00:46:04All the levels have been done,
00:46:06all the concrete that we needed
00:46:07to be poured is poured.
00:46:09It's going really well.
00:46:10We're in a really,
00:46:11really good spot.
00:46:12Best week of the block.
00:46:13Landscape wins the block.
00:46:14Up, 100%.
00:46:15So, how we're trying
00:46:16to set ourselves apart
00:46:17is being very on brief
00:46:19with Dale's first.
00:46:19It's all about natural beauty,
00:46:21sustainability, wellness.
00:46:26A beacon lighting consult,
00:46:27that's how it's going.
00:46:29We also need to look at
00:46:30where you want garden lighting
00:46:32so we make sure they've got
00:46:33power points in it,
00:46:34ready for it.
00:46:35Basically, lights everywhere.
00:46:37A lot of drawings.
00:46:38Hopefully, it all comes
00:46:39together well.
00:46:41Troy over here is that
00:46:42I've found a fruit orchard
00:46:43in the backyard
00:46:44of this girl's house
00:46:45who's happy to give it to us.
00:46:46Six fruit trees all up.
00:46:48Mate, we'll get whatever we can.
00:46:50It was about nine grand's
00:46:51worth of fruit trees.
00:46:52Troy sent his guys
00:46:52and we're able to pick up
00:46:53this beautiful nectarine tree
00:46:55and we've got the plum tree
00:46:56as well and the second lemon
00:46:58tree over there as well.
00:46:59To be able to save some money
00:47:00and repurpose some of these trees
00:47:02has been a really,
00:47:03really good result.
00:47:06Colby and Sean
00:47:07worked tirelessly offsite
00:47:08to create a chicken coop
00:47:10in the exact same shape
00:47:12as the house.
00:47:16I put the two birdhouses up,
00:47:18which we really love.
00:47:20Again, like the chicken coop,
00:47:22triangle houses.
00:47:24It's just like what's
00:47:25not a feature out there,
00:47:26actually.
00:47:27There's lots of features.
00:47:28It looks amazing.
00:47:31I'm just proud of Brit
00:47:32because this week
00:47:33was also super stressful
00:47:34but we produced
00:47:35the best backyard.
00:47:44I hope the judges
00:47:46just say that it just
00:47:47screams the Ellsfords
00:47:48from your bar saunas,
00:47:50ice baths.
00:47:51Hopefully they say,
00:47:52I get why they did
00:47:53the reformer room now.
00:47:54Because they've been
00:47:55rinsing us for seven weeks
00:47:56for it.
00:47:56So hopefully it makes
00:47:58sense to them now.
00:48:03Wowee.
00:48:04Okay.
00:48:09Heaven.
00:48:11They were immediately
00:48:12drawn to the lounge area
00:48:13and took a seat.
00:48:14Garen said,
00:48:16thank goodness
00:48:16they put an umbrella in.
00:48:18This is a very elegant space
00:48:20but I'm still the only one
00:48:21in the shade.
00:48:23Guys,
00:48:24you've got to remember,
00:48:24we've got some big trees here,
00:48:25okay,
00:48:26so they are deciduous trees.
00:48:28So when it's summertime,
00:48:29these trees are going
00:48:30to give you cover.
00:48:31Love that.
00:48:32Thank God you're here, Dave.
00:48:34Darren thinks the PGH stone
00:48:36on the fireplace
00:48:38is stunning and magical.
00:48:40It is really beautiful.
00:48:42I love the stark white.
00:48:44I love the link to inside.
00:48:45And I just,
00:48:47I think this area
00:48:49as a lounge area
00:48:50on top of that area
00:48:52as your dining area,
00:48:53it's just magic.
00:48:56Marty said,
00:48:57seeing it all finished,
00:48:58he can imagine
00:48:58the wedding shoot
00:48:59here right now.
00:49:03They actually started
00:49:04on this outside area
00:49:05planning and prepping
00:49:06months ago
00:49:08and you can see
00:49:09the level of finish here
00:49:10compared to what we've seen.
00:49:12This is shoot ready
00:49:12right now.
00:49:13Yes.
00:49:14Well, this is Troy Lovett,
00:49:15Lovett Landscapes, okay.
00:49:16So talking about the design
00:49:18that he's gone for,
00:49:19he wants to basically have
00:49:20like a contemporary garden here
00:49:22with links to
00:49:23like the wellness
00:49:24and that's why
00:49:25we've got the sauna,
00:49:26the spa,
00:49:27the cold plunge.
00:49:28But the connection
00:49:29is these arbours, okay.
00:49:31So this feeds you out.
00:49:32Now they may look
00:49:33a little bit bare
00:49:34at the moment
00:49:34but you can see
00:49:35that they've got star jasmine
00:49:36that's going to go up
00:49:37the side of these.
00:49:37So yes,
00:49:38if it's a wedding
00:49:39but it's more to take
00:49:41the focal point
00:49:41down to the pool.
00:49:43It sections it off.
00:49:44This is something
00:49:45that I absolutely love.
00:49:46It's more like
00:49:47a classic modern to me.
00:49:48It's like a journey garden.
00:49:49Yeah.
00:49:51Shona thinks
00:49:52the planting
00:49:53is all stunning.
00:49:55She also really liked
00:49:56the birdhouses
00:49:57attached to the arbours.
00:49:59Speaking of birds,
00:50:00a chicken coop as well
00:50:02and a greenhouse.
00:50:04What a great spot.
00:50:05It's fantastic.
00:50:06It really is.
00:50:07It feels very expensive.
00:50:09Yeah.
00:50:09They've sold
00:50:10perfect use here.
00:50:11They've given
00:50:12every single thing
00:50:13a purpose
00:50:14and a deliberate use.
00:50:16Then they found
00:50:17a creek.
00:50:18That's a first
00:50:19on the block.
00:50:21So generally
00:50:22all of these properties
00:50:23have a rainwater garden.
00:50:24Alright.
00:50:25Yes, we've seen that.
00:50:25But this one's
00:50:26so much bigger.
00:50:27Do you see this
00:50:29as too big of a bed?
00:50:31Because whilst I love
00:50:33the architecture behind it,
00:50:35I also think,
00:50:36well,
00:50:36a buyer will come here
00:50:37and go,
00:50:38what is the purpose
00:50:39of that
00:50:40versus the purpose
00:50:41of having more grass
00:50:43for the kids
00:50:44to kick a footy
00:50:44or...
00:50:45I love the look of it,
00:50:46but just the practicality side.
00:50:48I'm on the fence
00:50:49on this one,
00:50:49to be honest,
00:50:50because, you know,
00:50:50this will photograph up
00:50:51so good
00:50:52and I get where it is.
00:50:54It's sustainable.
00:50:54It's got everything.
00:50:55It screams Dale's foot
00:50:56as well at the same time.
00:50:57It could be the only thing
00:50:58that turns a buyer off.
00:50:59Shana told him
00:51:02to shut up.
00:51:04Yes, Shana.
00:51:05She said,
00:51:06this is magnificent.
00:51:08This is like
00:51:09a childhood dream.
00:51:10Like,
00:51:11I know you've got
00:51:12little kids,
00:51:12I've got grandkids,
00:51:13and I can see them
00:51:14just spending
00:51:15all their time out here
00:51:16and not coming inside.
00:51:18I think that
00:51:21this is the stuff
00:51:23of childhood dreams.
00:51:24It's the things
00:51:24that I remember
00:51:25from when I was a little kid,
00:51:26but selling a house,
00:51:29families always say,
00:51:31oh, this isn't enough lawn
00:51:33for my kid to run around.
00:51:34Well, I've never seen
00:51:35someone jump online
00:51:35and go,
00:51:36I need to find a house
00:51:37with a big dry creek.
00:51:38With a creek, yeah.
00:51:39I mean, it's a great feature,
00:51:41but it's not...
00:51:41This is huge.
00:51:42They're building something
00:51:43that you didn't know
00:51:44you wanted.
00:51:45I'm literally going to stick
00:51:46to my guns with this one.
00:51:48And then headed
00:51:49towards the cabana
00:51:50and took in the pool,
00:51:52and they were
00:51:52immediately drawn inside.
00:51:54Wow.
00:51:55How's this craftsmanship?
00:51:56Look at the way
00:51:57that they've cut
00:51:58and installed this decking.
00:52:01Just the simplicity
00:52:02of using this
00:52:02over and over and over again.
00:52:04It's one big space.
00:52:06It looks super minimalistic
00:52:08and refined.
00:52:09It's...
00:52:10Garen also loved
00:52:13the consideration
00:52:13of doing one light
00:52:15plungy pool
00:52:16and one dark plungy
00:52:17for the spa.
00:52:19And that Freedom Furniture
00:52:20is beyond stunning.
00:52:22Now, we have the
00:52:23Contour 3D cabana
00:52:25and I want to see
00:52:27how they've used it
00:52:28because, controversially, Dave,
00:52:30in there,
00:52:31we've got a Pilates studio.
00:52:33So this is clearly
00:52:34a lifestyle-centric house.
00:52:36I want to know
00:52:37how they've picked up
00:52:38that lifestyle in here.
00:52:40Finally, to the cabana.
00:52:41They thought the couch
00:52:42was in the right spot.
00:52:44No internal render,
00:52:45so it honours the detail
00:52:46of the Contour 3D.
00:52:51This is not a lounge room,
00:52:52though, is it?
00:52:53No, this is a cabana.
00:52:54Yeah.
00:52:54Yeah.
00:52:55You've still got
00:52:55one lounge room.
00:52:56Why on earth
00:53:00you have to stick to your guns
00:53:03and not put the Pilates studio
00:53:04in the shed
00:53:05or in here?
00:53:07This is such a good spot
00:53:08for a Pilates studio.
00:53:09Here we go.
00:53:11Yes, for real.
00:53:13Pilates said
00:53:14they could lose this competition
00:53:16because of that Pilates studio.
00:53:18They all debated
00:53:19if you are just too focused
00:53:21or too stubborn.
00:53:23Both, maybe.
00:53:26Fortunately,
00:53:28this is
00:53:29Backyard and Cabana Week
00:53:30and the backyard is amazing
00:53:32and so is this cabana.
00:53:34This cabana's fantastic.
00:53:35This sells the dream
00:53:37of the wellness
00:53:38and they've ticked every box.
00:53:40I want to do a call-out
00:53:41to Troy Lovett
00:53:42for his design
00:53:43and also Britt and Taz
00:53:44for getting someone in early
00:53:46because you can feel it,
00:53:47you can see it
00:53:48and they've allocated money
00:53:49right from the start
00:53:50and it is the dream.
00:53:53They have created
00:53:54this dream backyard.
00:53:56Some brilliant feedback there,
00:53:57Britt and Taz.
00:53:58That's it.
00:54:07OK, House 4, Sunny and Alish.
00:54:18This week was fun.
00:54:19We're not at the peak yet
00:54:21but this was us
00:54:22climbing to the peak.
00:54:25Hey, Paul.
00:54:26We worked really closely
00:54:27with our landscape design,
00:54:29Paul Pritchard
00:54:30and also Dylan
00:54:31from Jade Built.
00:54:32I've had experience
00:54:33in the past
00:54:33working with Dave Franklin.
00:54:35Yes, Dave does the judging
00:54:37so maybe he'll be
00:54:38a little biased.
00:54:44We've built our house
00:54:45with like a family
00:54:47like us in mind.
00:54:48Kids want some grass
00:54:51to play on.
00:54:51They love having
00:54:52a bit of grass
00:54:53and a bit of lawn
00:54:54to kick the football.
00:54:55Open space is great.
00:54:56You don't want to feel like
00:54:57crowded.
00:54:57You've got this space,
00:54:58use it.
00:54:58We have to think
00:55:02if we're using tiles
00:55:03anywhere in the backyard,
00:55:04the front yard,
00:55:05the side yard,
00:55:06the up yard,
00:55:07the down yard
00:55:08and every yard in between
00:55:10and your neighbour's yard.
00:55:11Let's do pool.
00:55:12There's these ones.
00:55:13Yeah, that one,
00:55:14that one there,
00:55:14yeah, that looks quite different.
00:55:16That looks like
00:55:16I've ever seen
00:55:17the sort of looking,
00:55:18isn't it?
00:55:20The bocce court,
00:55:21they've marked all that out,
00:55:22dug it out.
00:55:24Sick.
00:55:24Yeah.
00:55:25Yeah.
00:55:25I got to Bunnings
00:55:29and I found the fire pit aisle
00:55:32and I needed to make sure
00:55:34that I picked the right one.
00:55:48I mean,
00:55:49it's pretty good.
00:55:52Looks like Heathcote's the one.
00:55:53Oh, Nick,
00:55:55I think this is sold.
00:55:59It's the biggest wood
00:56:00on the block,
00:56:00my arbour.
00:56:01What?
00:56:04Looking at the arbour here,
00:56:05is this Wombat Park
00:56:06inspiration
00:56:07from our long lunch?
00:56:08Absolutely.
00:56:08It is.
00:56:09It is.
00:56:10Yay!
00:56:14Our team has been
00:56:15A1 from the start,
00:56:17haven't they?
00:56:17Are you getting sad now?
00:56:18No, but they have met.
00:56:19They have.
00:56:20I was a bit teary
00:56:21looking at it this morning.
00:56:22It withdrew
00:56:24emotion out of me.
00:56:25You know that even
00:56:26if we're losing
00:56:27I'll have something beautiful
00:56:30It pulls the focal point
00:56:34of the whole yard
00:56:35with the arbour behind it
00:56:36and everything is right there.
00:56:38When you stand on the alfresco
00:56:40and you look out...
00:56:42Yeah.
00:56:42It's sick.
00:56:43Yeah.
00:56:43Nice.
00:56:49Oh.
00:56:51Wow.
00:56:51Look at that.
00:56:52How good's this look?
00:56:53Sun coming through.
00:56:54Oh.
00:56:56This is beautiful.
00:56:58It's so simple
00:57:03but yet looking out
00:57:05is a textbook back garden.
00:57:08It is.
00:57:09It's textbook.
00:57:10Yeah.
00:57:10This is a landscaper
00:57:12that we have had on the show before
00:57:13so his name's Dylan Barker
00:57:14from Jade Landscapes.
00:57:16Wow.
00:57:16I got to speak to him
00:57:17this morning
00:57:18and the landscape
00:57:18is all about family
00:57:20and a home.
00:57:21Mate, I would say
00:57:22good, proper Aussie backyard.
00:57:24That's exactly what this looks like.
00:57:26Yeah.
00:57:27Shona said to Marty
00:57:28you wanted lawn
00:57:29you've got lawn.
00:57:31I mean that's the thing
00:57:32straight off the deck
00:57:33you've got heaps of lawn.
00:57:34Yeah.
00:57:35This is the only design
00:57:36that we've seen
00:57:36where the outdoor dining
00:57:38is so far away
00:57:38from the rest of it.
00:57:40It's quite different
00:57:41and unique
00:57:41and it actually works.
00:57:44Shona just love the colour
00:57:45of the Little Hampton
00:57:46Brick Company pavers.
00:57:48They feel very handmade
00:57:50probably because they are Shona.
00:57:52Yes Shona they are.
00:57:54Look at this
00:57:54and how the arbor
00:57:56relates to this furniture.
00:57:58We were saying
00:57:58that's the wedding house
00:58:00but this is like
00:58:01you entertain
00:58:02for Christmas Day
00:58:04with three or four families
00:58:06combined.
00:58:06It's like 24 people.
00:58:07Yeah.
00:58:10It's simple.
00:58:11It's solid.
00:58:12I was even looking
00:58:13at the pool fence
00:58:14and going
00:58:14I wish they had
00:58:15up to the spec
00:58:16but then I've noticed
00:58:17a lot of these trees
00:58:18and plants
00:58:19they're actually all
00:58:20going to keep growing
00:58:21and they're going to
00:58:22actually make the fence
00:58:23disappear so if it was glass
00:58:25it would have been an issue
00:58:26is that right?
00:58:27Correct mate.
00:58:27Again this is a garden
00:58:28that's going to be
00:58:29ever changing as well
00:58:30so it is well thought out
00:58:31with the plant palette here
00:58:32so this is another garden
00:58:34that's going to look fantastic
00:58:35come auction time.
00:58:37Yeah.
00:58:37Shona noticed
00:58:38the wisteria's planted
00:58:39next to the arbor
00:58:40and imagine
00:58:41and imagine
00:58:41what it will be like
00:58:42when they grow
00:58:43over the top
00:58:44just beautiful.
00:58:45I'm looking at the timber
00:58:46and thinking
00:58:47jeez do you want to cover it
00:58:48but again
00:58:48wisteria will look fantastic.
00:58:50I tell you what
00:58:52everything I look at
00:58:54looks like
00:58:55an elevation
00:58:57of the perfect
00:58:58Aussie garden.
00:58:59You're right.
00:59:00You're right.
00:59:00It really is.
00:59:03Compliments kept on coming
00:59:05Sonny and Leish.
00:59:06Yay.
00:59:06I do love that
00:59:07raised garden bed
00:59:09that's just so practical
00:59:10and we've got a fig tree
00:59:11got maybe a lemon
00:59:12or a lime
00:59:13or this is great.
00:59:14Look at this
00:59:15little rolling knoll
00:59:16down.
00:59:17You're making
00:59:17little bits
00:59:18going down there.
00:59:20Marty then headed
00:59:21inside your sauna
00:59:22and he thanked you
00:59:23very much
00:59:24for switching it on.
00:59:26Look how big it is.
00:59:28This is a cool sauna.
00:59:30It's on.
00:59:31It's on.
00:59:33I love it.
00:59:33This is a great
00:59:34little spot too.
00:59:34Is it?
00:59:35It's not like they
00:59:36don't have a lot
00:59:36of dining spaces.
00:59:37I was just going to say
00:59:37I just think it's
00:59:38don't need that.
00:59:39Unless it's to connect
00:59:40something here
00:59:41what have they done?
00:59:44Okay that's interesting.
00:59:46Check it.
00:59:48Look.
00:59:48Ah.
00:59:49There we go.
00:59:51Little day bed.
00:59:52Little day bed.
00:59:53And then found a microwave,
00:59:54a toilet,
00:59:55kitchenette
00:59:56and then
00:59:57kind of realised
00:59:58what type of room
00:59:59he was actually in.
01:00:00It's a poolside cabana
01:00:01obviously
01:00:02but the fact that
01:00:03you could
01:00:04crash here.
01:00:05Crash here?
01:00:06Yeah.
01:00:06Marty said
01:00:07it's like a little
01:00:07hotel suite.
01:00:09Because you've got
01:00:10heating and cooling.
01:00:12This is the highest
01:00:12spec cabana
01:00:13we've seen today.
01:00:14Like every single
01:00:15part of the wall
01:00:16is stunning.
01:00:18Dave said
01:00:19this is the best
01:00:20pool cabana
01:00:20he'd ever seen.
01:00:23He called it
01:00:23a great doghouse
01:00:24and it's extremely
01:00:25well executed.
01:00:27Sonny would know
01:00:27what that is.
01:00:28That's why I built
01:00:29it.
01:00:29Steve.
01:00:29You're always
01:00:31in trouble.
01:00:32I'm always
01:00:32in the doghouse.
01:00:34It's a well lit
01:00:34doghouse.
01:00:35It's very
01:00:36very beautiful.
01:00:37The design,
01:00:38the materials,
01:00:39even the decision
01:00:39to paint the ceiling
01:00:40black
01:00:41and that they've
01:00:42honoured
01:00:43the Contour 3D
01:00:44form.
01:00:45Tell you what,
01:00:46I was not expecting
01:00:47to see a cabana
01:00:48to this standard.
01:00:49He said
01:00:50this space
01:00:51is now part
01:00:51of the agent's
01:00:52campaign.
01:00:54They then
01:00:54headed out
01:00:55to find
01:00:55not only a fire pit
01:00:56but a whole
01:00:57petonk pitch
01:00:58or bocce
01:00:59depending on
01:01:00where you come
01:01:00from.
01:01:01This looks like
01:01:01it's the
01:01:01professional size.
01:01:04Marty's not bad.
01:01:05That's pretty good.
01:01:06They all had a go
01:01:07and they found
01:01:08themselves very
01:01:09happily relaxing
01:01:10here in the sunshine.
01:01:12What is amazing
01:01:13is that they've
01:01:14placed this bench
01:01:15here for this
01:01:16purpose and we
01:01:17did exactly what
01:01:19you naturally do
01:01:20when you're playing
01:01:20this game socially
01:01:22with friends.
01:01:22Wow, what a
01:01:24backyard.
01:01:25That's it,
01:01:26Sonny,
01:01:26well done.
01:01:39Okay, how's
01:01:39five, Robbie
01:01:40and Matt?
01:01:41G'day.
01:01:44This week
01:01:45was
01:01:46beautiful
01:01:48and muddy.
01:01:53Pool day.
01:01:54Pool day, awesome.
01:01:55Fundy day.
01:01:56So I met
01:01:56Cam from
01:01:57Plungy.
01:01:58We're actually
01:01:58launching a new
01:01:59Plungy called
01:02:00the Quad, which
01:02:01is a 2.2
01:02:03metre square
01:02:04Plungy.
01:02:05Wellbeing is such
01:02:06a hot trend
01:02:07that we've designed
01:02:08this to be a
01:02:09cold plunge pool.
01:02:11Plungy giving us
01:02:11two pools.
01:02:12One for the
01:02:13entertainment.
01:02:13Plungy Max.
01:02:14And a cold pool.
01:02:15Plungy Quad.
01:02:16The backyard is an
01:02:20entertainer and
01:02:21family dream.
01:02:23Play pickleball,
01:02:24jump in the pool,
01:02:25sit in front of the
01:02:25fireplace, so many
01:02:26options.
01:02:27Paul Grant and his
01:02:27team.
01:02:28They're perfectionists.
01:02:30We love Paul and to be
01:02:31honest, there is no way
01:02:32we could do it without
01:02:33him.
01:02:33He is phenomenal.
01:02:36We are going to be
01:02:37putting a big tree here.
01:02:40So I'd like to put
01:02:41maybe like two chairs
01:02:43together and something
01:02:44there.
01:02:44What about these
01:02:46manly chairs, these
01:02:48two little ones?
01:02:49Amazing.
01:02:50All this freedom
01:02:50furniture is going to
01:02:51be exactly what we
01:02:53need.
01:02:55What do you think of
01:02:56this?
01:02:57Oh, wow.
01:02:58It's around about
01:02:5925 years old.
01:03:02I didn't know what a
01:03:02bottle tree was until
01:03:03I got to the
01:03:03bottle tree place.
01:03:04Bottle tree,
01:03:05bottle tree,
01:03:05bottle tree,
01:03:06bottle tree.
01:03:06I love this girl.
01:03:08She's thick and I
01:03:10think she needs to
01:03:10come home with me.
01:03:11She's massive.
01:03:13It is beautiful,
01:03:14mate.
01:03:14Great pick.
01:03:17Finally, this big
01:03:18pickleball court is
01:03:19now being installed.
01:03:20Just the size of it
01:03:21alone is huge because
01:03:23you could chuck a
01:03:24marquee on that.
01:03:25You could see a hundred
01:03:26people on that easily.
01:03:27Easily.
01:03:29I went to Stony Creek
01:03:30Gallery.
01:03:32The gallery is
01:03:33mind-blowing.
01:03:34It's amazing.
01:03:35Took one of Michael
01:03:37Parker's personal
01:03:39sculptures.
01:03:40Wow.
01:03:41It's so much more
01:03:42beautiful than what I
01:03:43even thought it would
01:03:44be.
01:03:44This is one of his
01:03:45last sculptures that he
01:03:46has ever done and so
01:03:48we are very grateful to
01:03:49have this in our yard.
01:03:50It's incredible.
01:03:52If I could bottle this
01:03:54up, bottle, bottle this
01:03:56up, I would, I would
01:03:57bottle this up, I would,
01:03:57Paul's vision has come
01:03:59to life.
01:04:00I would, cause you're
01:04:01gorgeous in this moment.
01:04:04And he even said this is
01:04:07the best work he's ever
01:04:07done.
01:04:13We've listened, we've
01:04:15learned and we've grown.
01:04:16And this week showcases
01:04:18everything that we've
01:04:19learnt.
01:04:20We're here to win this
01:04:21competition.
01:04:22Big words.
01:04:25Well we are.
01:04:29Oh my goodness.
01:04:32Wow.
01:04:34Look at all the curves,
01:04:35Shana.
01:04:36This is, you know what,
01:04:37this is very Dr. Seuss.
01:04:38Don't you think?
01:04:40Very magical.
01:04:42It is magical.
01:04:46Look at the fire in the
01:04:48trends.
01:04:49Wow.
01:04:50Look at that.
01:04:51It's got a couple of
01:04:52bloody pieces of meat on
01:04:54it.
01:04:55Oh my God.
01:04:55A couple of pieces.
01:04:56They're Flintstone size.
01:04:58Oh.
01:04:59He was literally
01:05:00salivated.
01:05:01That's ready to eat.
01:05:02Yeah, we'll cut that
01:05:03after.
01:05:03This is fantastic, isn't it?
01:05:05It's just so good.
01:05:06It anchors the outdoor
01:05:07entertaining.
01:05:08This bench here acts as a
01:05:10bit of a seat.
01:05:11I love the finish as well.
01:05:12Yeah, that's beautiful.
01:05:14This is a designer that I
01:05:15do know, another
01:05:16landscaper I know.
01:05:18His name is Paul Grant
01:05:19and he did say that this
01:05:20is one of the biggest
01:05:21outdoor fireplaces in
01:05:22the region.
01:05:23In the region.
01:05:24In the region.
01:05:25There you go.
01:05:25But I've never seen
01:05:26anything this big before.
01:05:27It's incredible.
01:05:30Marty was briefly
01:05:30concerned about the
01:05:31placement of the
01:05:32fireplace.
01:05:35From the deck and
01:05:36from a family
01:05:37perspective, not being
01:05:39able to see the kids
01:05:40in the pool, that is a
01:05:41concern and I think
01:05:42people will recognise
01:05:43that when they come
01:05:44here.
01:05:44Well, actually, a Swan
01:05:45security camera up here
01:05:46point directly at the
01:05:48pool so you can watch
01:05:49that from your phone or
01:05:51from the TV inside in
01:05:52the living room and you
01:05:54can keep an eye on the
01:05:55kids while they're in
01:05:55the pool.
01:05:56That's pretty cool.
01:05:57Yeah.
01:05:58That's pretty handy.
01:05:59Dave Franklin talked a
01:06:00lot today about the
01:06:02layering of the basalt and
01:06:03pebbles and the very
01:06:05considered placement of
01:06:06everything in the garden.
01:06:07This landscape here is
01:06:10sustainable.
01:06:11You can turn the
01:06:12irrigation off on this
01:06:13one and this one will
01:06:13grow no problems
01:06:14whatsoever.
01:06:15Dave looked to the
01:06:16side of your yard and
01:06:17said...
01:06:18We've had some trees on
01:06:19the block but this is
01:06:20just a hero, isn't it?
01:06:22Yeah.
01:06:22It really is.
01:06:22That's one of the most
01:06:23beautiful trees I've seen
01:06:24in my life.
01:06:25Yeah.
01:06:25So it is about 25 years
01:06:26old.
01:06:27It's beautiful.
01:06:27This tree.
01:06:28But how good is just
01:06:29having a simple tree than
01:06:31having a structure?
01:06:32I think this looks
01:06:32fantastic.
01:06:33Darren then had to quote
01:06:36the castle.
01:06:38Oh, the serenity.
01:06:40I thought you were
01:06:41going to say I dug a
01:06:42hole.
01:06:45Darren really liked the
01:06:46inclusion of the food
01:06:47cubes.
01:06:48So you've got that
01:06:49lovely sustainable grow
01:06:50your own food thing at
01:06:51home.
01:06:51You've got a trellis to
01:06:52grow things up in a
01:06:53vine.
01:06:54Technically it's
01:06:55wonderful but it's so
01:06:56pretty.
01:06:57And we haven't even
01:06:57mentioned the swimming
01:06:59pool.
01:06:59I'm surprised you haven't
01:07:00mentioned the...
01:07:01Because I can't wait
01:07:02to...
01:07:03Hey, you got me a
01:07:04bocce, mate, but you
01:07:05ain't getting me a
01:07:05pickle.
01:07:06Get on that court.
01:07:08And then the
01:07:08competition between the
01:07:09judges was on again.
01:07:11Is this what you and
01:07:12your real estate mates
01:07:13do every week,
01:07:14hey?
01:07:19There's no mercy
01:07:20here.
01:07:24Nearly went over
01:07:24then.
01:07:25Scores, Marty two,
01:07:26Dave zero.
01:07:28You know what,
01:07:29the boys won the
01:07:31fireplace, they won
01:07:33the pickleball court,
01:07:35they won the money
01:07:37from the wine cellar to
01:07:38get the bottle tree.
01:07:39Everything they won has
01:07:41added value to here.
01:07:43You've made it all work
01:07:44so well together, it's
01:07:46very cohesive.
01:07:48This here's a pretty
01:07:49incredible inclusion.
01:07:51These are the only
01:07:52contestants that have
01:07:53actually added this in.
01:07:54Hey, that actually goes
01:07:55quite quick.
01:07:56That's easy.
01:07:57Look at that.
01:07:57And they're easy.
01:07:58From Shadespot here,
01:07:59I'll be honest, I
01:08:00haven't seen one of
01:08:00these before.
01:08:01It's actually giving
01:08:02shade over there.
01:08:03Yeah, that's it.
01:08:04So it just depends
01:08:05where you're wanting
01:08:06to sit.
01:08:06Well, when it's 12
01:08:07to 2 o'clock and that
01:08:09sun is beating down
01:08:10on a 40 degree day,
01:08:12that's actually giving
01:08:12them the protection
01:08:14that's needed.
01:08:15Inside the Contour
01:08:173D cabana, they found
01:08:18another sauna and
01:08:19another great inclusion,
01:08:21but they didn't think
01:08:22it was built in as well
01:08:24as House 1's was.
01:08:28It just feels like
01:08:29it's plonk there to me.
01:08:31I would rather see
01:08:32something a little bit
01:08:32more in here, but,
01:08:33you know.
01:08:34It's great, but it's
01:08:35not as luxurious as
01:08:36some of the other
01:08:36cabanas we've seen.
01:08:37Definitely not.
01:08:38Mmm.
01:08:40They then headed back
01:08:41to the fire to
01:08:42deliberate and found
01:08:44Maddie from the
01:08:45Dalesford Meat Company
01:08:46slicing up the ribeye
01:08:48for them.
01:08:49G'day, mate.
01:08:49Hello.
01:08:50Oh, good.
01:08:50Good, chef and
01:08:51everything here.
01:08:52Looking for a couple
01:08:53of extra points there.
01:08:56As they ate their steak,
01:08:57they thought about
01:08:58what they'd seen today
01:08:59and they have nothing
01:09:01but high praise for
01:09:02all of you.
01:09:03I'm going to say,
01:09:04I've been on the block
01:09:05for a long time,
01:09:06but this is some of
01:09:07the best landscapes
01:09:07I've ever seen.
01:09:09That is high praise
01:09:10indeed, considering
01:09:11he's done a lot of
01:09:12them himself.
01:09:14Time for the scores.
01:09:16Congratulations,
01:09:16everyone.
01:09:17What do you think
01:09:17of everything,
01:09:18don't you?
01:09:18What?
01:09:19Not the steak.
01:09:30Here we go.
01:09:32Good week, everyone.
01:09:33Congratulations.

01:09:51with some of the
01:09:52finishes.
