00:00Joel, I want to talk about this one, but first, we are getting more Dark Matter, aren't we?
00:03Because me and my missus are obsessed with that show.
00:05Season 2's coming down the pipe. We've finished shooting it.
00:09But it's sort of stitching it all together now.
00:11I can't wait to see how that story unfolds, considering how it kind of was wrapped up in the last series.
00:17But anyway, this is about Train Dreams right now.
00:20Congratulations on this movie, mate. Everything I hear about is absolutely phenomenal.
00:23It looks stunningly beautiful.
00:25Yes.
00:25And returning to the role of exact producer, it must have been something that you were really, really passionate about.
00:33Yeah, I've always been passionate about this story since.
00:36I had read the novella, you know, a good five, six years before Clint came knocking on my door.
00:43And the story resonated with me then in a massive way.
00:47And then, you know, since then, I've become a dad.
00:49And if you watched the film, you'll know why, but it resonated with me on a whole other deeper, terrifying level after that.
00:58Congratulations, mate. I became a dad as well in the last year.
01:01And I found these kind of stories really speak to me now because they make you feel so much.
01:06And you feel like that veil between, I don't know, how you control your feelings is so much thinner when you go, my father, in a way.
01:12Like, you have access to so much.
01:14Different kind of love and a different accessibility for your possibilities of murdering other people, like in protecting your kids.
01:23Yeah, yeah, without a doubt.
01:25But also, I think the film makes, well, for me, I always talk about my own experience.
01:31It made me, when I saw it all put together, it makes me want to just be with the people that I care about.
01:37I struggle with being present in each moment and the fear that one day you might look like,
01:43I just didn't really make use of the time I had with everyone that I really cared about.
01:49The film really made me feel that, if that makes any sense.
01:52Yeah, I was saying to Felicity, it feels like these kind of movies, when we live our lives on our phones now,
01:57and we don't get to have that interconnectability, that your emotions aren't kind of put on the front line as much now as they were in historic times.
02:06And to see that reflected, those stories reflected back at us is something we, like, yearn for as human beings now, I think.
02:13And it's up to movies like this to be able to remind us that that's there.
02:16Yeah, and also remembering that, you know, for now anyway, tonight and all these festival screenings and so on,
02:24still that one chance for us to be in a place, turn our phones off, can't do it in an aeroplane anymore unless you choose to.
02:33Well, you just put everything away and just, like, allow yourself to be taken somewhere else without geographically going anywhere.
02:40And I think cinnamon is very sacred for that reason.
