00:00Power was restored to over 240,000 Odessa households following a major overnight Russian
00:07attack on Ukrainian energy infrastructure.
00:11U.S. troops have begun arriving in Israel to oversee the implementation of the ceasefire

00:22Around 50 towns in Ukraine's Odessa region were left without power on Saturday morning
00:28following an overnight Russian drone attack on energy infrastructure, according to regional
00:33authorities.
00:34Ukrainian private energy firm DTEK reported that power has since been restored to the
00:40240,000 households affected.
00:44Odessa's regional governors said that besides energy infrastructure, two residential buildings
00:49and a hotel were damaged.
00:51One person, a 47-year-old woman, was injured.
00:55Power was also restored to over 800,000 Kyiv residents on Saturday, following a separate
01:01attack by Russia on the Ukrainian power grid a day earlier, which caused blackouts across
01:06much of the country.
01:08The energy sector has been a key battleground since Russia launched its all-out invasion
01:13more than three years ago.
01:15Each year, Russia has tried to cripple the Ukrainian power grid before the winter season, apparently
01:20hoping to erode public morale.
01:25U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to travel to the Middle East next week to participate
01:30in a signing ceremony of the Gaza peace deal in Egypt, potentially marking the end of the
01:36two-year bloody Israel-Hamas war, according to media reports.
01:42During the trip, Trump is first scheduled to visit Israel where a meeting with Prime Minister
01:47Benjamin Netanyahu and an address to the Neset, Israel's parliament, are planned.
01:53According to Israeli media reports, Trump is likely to meet with the families of hostages,
01:59while Egyptian media reports that preparations are underway to welcome Trump on Monday.
02:05On Saturday, Egyptian government sources said Trump will be received in the red city of
02:10Sham el-Sheikh to participate in a signing ceremony along with other guarantors of the
02:15Gaza peace deal.
02:17The U.S. President's planned trip to the Middle East follows his announcement early Thursday
02:22that Israel and Hamas had agreed to the first phase of a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
02:29U.S. troops have begun arriving in Israel to oversee the implementation of the ceasefire agreement
02:39in Gaza, according to two sources cited by ABC News. U.S. officials said 200 troops will be on the ground
02:46to set up a coordination center, but they are not expected to enter Gaza. As the ceasefire held,
02:53U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff visited an Israeli army post in Gaza on Saturday to confirm
02:59the first phase of the withdrawal of IDF troops. The remaining hostages held by Hamas are said to
03:05be released by Monday. Officials in Gaza say around 5,000 public operations have been conducted since
03:12the ceasefire came into effect, including efforts to restore key infrastructure, rescue and medical
03:18operations. The United Nations said it will begin delivering scaled-up aid on Sunday.
03:23Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians continue to return to their homes
03:30in the north of Gaza. Gaza's civil defense agency said 300,000 people have arrived in Gaza's city since the
03:37truce began. Belgium's latest national strike is expected to spark chaos across the country on Tuesday,
03:49the 14th of October. Trade unions will protest against reforms by the federal government,
03:55impacting pensions, salaries and working conditions. The city's two main airports, Brussels airport and
04:02Brussels Charleroi, have confirmed hundreds of flights have been canceled. Train, bus and tram services will
04:08also be significantly reduced. Spain could be the victim of another blackout, according to its grid operator,
04:22Red Electrica, which has warned that an abrupt voltage variation could affect power supply. The warning
04:29comes six months after an outage in April, which left 60 million people in Spain and Portugal without
04:36power for more than 10 hours. The European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity
04:43said in a report last Friday that the blackout was triggered by overvoltage as the grid struggled to
04:50absorb sudden power losses.
