Blue Goose — Blue Goose 1975 (UK, Hard, Blues Rock)
The band was formed by Eddie Clarke (later of Motörhead and Fastway), inspired by the works of Clapton and Hendrix. Clarke himself had been playing in various bands in his native Twickenham (west London) since the age of 15. In 1973, he joined Curtis Knight's band Zeus as lead guitarist and considered the invitation an incredible stroke of luck, as Knight's idol Hendrix had played with Knight in Squires. Along with his Zeus bandmates (Nick Hogarth - keyboards, Chris Perry - drums) and his friend Alan Callan (synthesizer, guitar, vocals), Clarke jammed, recording four songs. The recording was so successful that the quartet secured a contract with Anchor, and the band was renamed Blue Goose. After signing the contract, Eddie, Nick, and Chris focused on their own project and left Zeus. An indignant Knight promised to "beat up the traitors" when they met. Apparently, you can't build your own happiness on someone else's misfortune. Soon, a conflict arose within the band between recent friends Eddie and Alan. Clarke ultimately left Blue Goose before the album was recorded and quickly formed a new band, Continuous Performance. The album Blue Goose, released in 1975, became the band's first and last.
